This place was recommended to us by a friend. I don't think we would have ever found this place otherwise. He must have some emotional ties to the people working here because the food is not good. The breakfast meats are of the cheapest variety. Like the sausages you get in the frozen section that come in rounds with the oddly elastic and spongey texture. They stuff the sausage in the burrito by cutting it in half as opposed to bulk sausage because it is the cheap stuff. It was bizarre. The green chile was not memorable. The burrito covering was way too thick. For Denver, they are on the less expensive side but they are made with incredibly cheap ingredients. I am leery in general of breakfast meats at breakfast burrito places and this is why. If the green chile was good, we would consider a return trip sans any meat. Gomez Burritos is of the same ilk and worth your dime if you are looking for a family run old skool DenMex spot. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by Luceros. A few do works told me about them, so i decided to give them a try. I got the chicken burrito supreme and it was delicious. I got it half mild half hot and I can assure you. It was HOT!!! I also got a beef and bean tostada and it was just a a delicious. The food came within minutes. I don't think I waited more than 5 minutes. And it was piping hot in temperature. While it didn't look the best, the taste was out of this world. One thing I can say for sure, it's not an establishment that you notice right way since it's in a residential neighborhood, but it is worth the trip. The price also isn't bad. The burrito supreme was $7 and the tostada was $3. Which isn't bad especially for the taste and the quickness the food arrives. Highly recommend, and will for sure be coming back. read more

I am all about giving a customer back the same energy that they give so trust me this is not where this is coming from because if people are rude, they should be treated rudely. However the lady running this counter is just rude and ghetto. First they continued their conversation before ever even acknowledging us standing there, then met with "what do you need"? Put her hand out for my card, slid me the paper all while continuing her conversation. Said nothing else till the two burritos were done then said "here". The burritos no bigger than Taco Bell burritos on dollar foil. If this is the same lurcero family line that owns chubbys & bubba chinos it makes it even worse. Honestly confused by all the people saying this is authentic because it's really basic food that seems mostly pre made from the store. The salsa might be just pace Picante and everything is flavored mildly. They only have limited meat selections on the menu and it's not even that inexpensive. I ate there for the first time ever today. I always go to the creamery when on that side of town. I have heard about Luceros smothered burritos. I ordered some Fries & 2 Smothered Enchiladas 1/2 hot & 1/2 mild, and was very disappointed. Quantity was very small, very bland seasoning, I asked for No Onions or Tomatoes, and the cook still put both vegetables on top. I should have just ordered the smothered burrito to see what the hype is. The plain fries were fresh and hot and most likely are delicious with chili & cheese on top. Yet based on today I will not return unless someone else is paying for it. Best 2 things about Luceros today way cleanliness and friendliness of staff which is always greatly appreciated. read more

Requested a bean & cheese burrito smothered supreme and I got a burrito with a scoop of flavorless beans & the cold cheese on the outside along with all the veggies that should have been inside. The best way to describe their food: a family-run version of a national Mexican fast food chain.... from their unnaturally white, crunchy taco shells to their weirdly-bright orange-colored shredded cheese. Their only meat choices are ground beef and shredded chicken, both which taste like something you'd make at home using prepackaged seasoning packets and a crock pot. The bean paste in the "beef and bean burrito" looks like it was squirted directly from the can. The hot sauce looks spicy but tastes a bland, watered-down Tapatio. I hate to write such a poor review for any family-run establishment but there are a lot of better places within a few blocks of this place. read more

I have ordered food from this Lucero's location in the past. However, today was not good. Cashier should learn to have a better attitude ESPECIALLY when the mistake on the order is YOUR FAULT! I was given an order which belonged to someone else. When I returned it, she gave me the worst attitude EVER. Not cool at all! I have lived near this quaint little Mexican restaurant for about a year. If you don't know its there, you would likely never go there because it is, strangely, smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood surrounded by houses. A couple of weeks ago I finally ventured in for a breakfast burrito (they are only open 6:30-4) and it was amazing. I've since went back 5 times, including this morning, it that tells you anything. I am a fan of Santiagos and I think this place tops it for authentic mexican food. They grill the tortillas on the flat top which ad a nice flavor that you don't usually get. The salsa is very fresh tasting. The very very very best part of is the refined beans. In a burrito, on a combo plate, or on the side, they are AMAZING. Beans, in my opinion, are typically and afterthought and a filler. These beans have the most incredible flavor! I could eat them alone as a meal. They also have a few non-mexican items on the menu like burgers and fries. I had the fries, they were great too! Nice and crispy. Try it out and I promise you will be back. read more
