Lucia's was very disappointing. It is to be expected that restaurants have periods where things might be a little off. How the food is presented can slip through the cracks when a place is crammed with folks. But Lucia's is so close that we know that, so we try to patronize during the times when there is little to no one is there. But this didn't seem to be the problem. It was the taste of the food. This was surprising. I love the menu. But I had expected their usual fajitas.The usual was what I had set my mouth for. The meat was tough and didn't have the expected flavor of the marinade that is a signature of their fajitas. I am sending love and light to Lucia's. I wish them the best in these times. Oddly craving something high-carbish and stick-to-your-ribsiriffic, I popped into Lucia's after shopping at Tuesday Morning, next door. There were 3 of us at the bar on this Sunday afternoon at the "new" Tex Mex joint that replaced the previous Tex Mex joint and is the second Lucia's with the original based in Athens AL. This was my first visit. There was a slight wait until the bartender showed up - no biggie. He was nice and paced things just fine - I wasn't in a rush. I ordered a Chard (Franzia, which = sad face). For whatever reason, he poured it in a long stemmed water glass filled to the rim. I ordered a beef taco, beans and rice. The chips were good, they were sturdy and crispy - not stale at all. I went light on the salsa. The beef crunchy taco was slightly greasy. I just let it break in half and kept dipping up the fillings with the comp'd chips. The beans were good and the rice was good, although I left most of it due to not eating much rice. The décor was nice and a few families were eating there at ~ 3:00 on a Sunday. All in all I wouldn't bother with Lucia's again because rarely do I crave Tex Mex, plus the vino was no Bueno. At least it was boxed making it somewhat fresh - still I wouldn't drop in for a glass of wine here, the sushi place a few doors up has better wine. I know, I know, Tex Mex places are known for margaritas. I just don't drink margaritas. Again, friendly bartender, good chips, nothing to complain about and nothing outstanding or noteworthy really. read more

Food was good. Would recommend. But here's the problem: Men's bathroom: urinal busted, toilets seat won't stay up. Women's bathroom: one stall out of order, second stall won't flush, third stall won't lock. So if this is the state of the restrooms, I can only imagine how the kitchen is. read more

This restaurant is right outside our neighborhood so we were excited to check it out. The service was exceptional--our waitress was attentive and the food arrived fast. My issue is with the food alone. My shrimp chimichanga had absolutely ZERO flavor. Even when i popped in a shrimp alone it didn't taste like shrimp. The onions didn't taste like onions. There were no peppers or tomatoes when i was told they would be included. Bland bland food. Also, i absolutely love Mexican rice. The menu said my meal would include rice and beans and it came out with instant white rice. Such a let down--especially when my boyfriend's meal also stated it would come with rice and beans and he was given Mexican rice. It turns out that the best part of my meal were the chips i dipped in the refried beans. Only got three stars because we had a great waitress and my boyfriend liked his food. read more

With drink total was $10.67 Chile Relleno was huge, guacamole was very good with a little heat, and beans were excellent. Ordered to-go from Lucia's tonight and wow was I shocked at the amount of food you get for your money. I ordered the 5 steak taco plate with chorizo topped black beans ($13) as well as the carnitas plate ($15). Each plate was enough food to serve 2 people. Great value, that's for sure. Flavor wise the food was good and not overly greasy, but I found the seasoning to be a bit light for my taste. Lucia's chips and salsas were among the best I've had in town. This place we used to love but after countless times of being up charged we'd never go there again. We get the exact same meals and drinks every single time and the charge varies from $60-85. If you decide to go to this place have them explain the bill and I guarantee you will see an up charge especially if you come in there late. After coming home from a trip we drove across the country we pulled in an hour before the closed, they obviously were annoyed, sharing a plate of street tacos, a burrito and a beer and margarita was $70. Ordered chinichanga, a kids meal, and Fajita Nachos supreme. Server was friendly. Food was extremely bland. We are a few bites and sent back. Did not have time to reorder. Chicken on kids meal was stringy. We aren't both plates back uneaten. Server came back with 10% off. We asked for manager. Manager did not come out. Instead server Came back with 25% off. We ended up paying $29 for food we didn't eat. Still tipped server since it wasn't his fault. Manager was David and walked by our table numerous times but never spoke. Even when asked. We found out owner name is Hector and intend to reach out to him. I assume he would not want managers like David running his restaurant. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE! We wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant, but this was a total flop! My food (fajitas) was OK, but my wife's Camarone cocktail was terrible. Her Camerone cocktail tasted like they had just poured ketchup into a glass and threw some shrimp and other stuff in on top. Terrible! The food was not the worst part. We kept being buzzed by flies AND we had a bug crawling down the wall and across our table. We will NOT be going back and I am considering calling the health department. read more

I asked the waiter (a very personable young man) if the food was authentic and prepared fresh (probably your looking at a picture of me and saying, yeah like, you would care, it looks you would eat anything, WRONG, I have a very sophisticated palate . I have to say that we mainly come here out of convenience to avoid 72 but it's consistently good, the table side guacamole was really nice and made exactly how we wanted with fresh ingredients. Nice atmosphere. Never too crowded and they serve Coke products which is always a plus! read more

This little gem was tucked away in a small Publix shopping center. So glad we ate here. Food was great! (Try the El Gordo Burrito as it includes chorizo.) Service was great too! I took a good friend here after a long day of work. It was getting close to the end of the day and we were hungry. The food we ordered came out fast. It was tasty and generous. Mine could've been a little more spicy but my friend said hers was fine. The only issue that I had what is the salsa was like water. Lucia's is fairly new in our area, located in the Publix parking lot on County Line Road. We have eaten here several times & the quality of the meals has been very good! Interesting restaurant. To start, the service was all over the place. When we arrived there was no sign that we should seat ourselves so I stood at the register while the hostess watched us from the back wall. I finally walked up to her and asked if we should just get our own seat. She said no, and showed us a table. Weird. From them on, our own server was great. BUT, even after getting our food, we had 3 different other servers come to the table with food for other tables. And it wasn't crowded. Odd. And, it was a trivia night with a DJ. Unexpected. As for the food, it arrived incredibly fast, like in 5 minutes, chimichangas and pork tacos. Quality was okay. Chimichangas were not flavorful. The tacos had plenty of meat, but the texture was off. Very soft, almost mushy. As a plus, the avocados were fresh and cold! We didn't get a margarita from their extensive menu as almost every one of them indicated it was made from a mix.
