Every dentist I'd ever had the misfortune of entrusting my cute little porcelains to had been some awful variation of Orin Scrivello, DDS (a la "Little Shop of Horrors"... and oh, the *horrors*!). Like bad boyfriends, I swore them off, figuring that if I just stayed away, I could save myself the pain, the blood, the heartache (from the dentists, not the boyfriends). Unfortunately, shunning dentists isn't the best way to keep your pearly whites so pearly nor so white. When I broke a tooth, I had no idea whom to go to, and the thought of just picking a random dentist out of the Yellow Pages was terrifying. No one I knew seemed to be able to recommend a dentist either. As I was daring myself to try 1-800-DENTIST, one of my friends called me and said, "I just heard what happened - do you have a dentist? You *have* to go to mine! He's the BEST!" And Dr. Kim is indeed the best. From the moment you call his office, his receptionist, Bella, takes awesome care of you. When you arrive, each and every member of the staff is incredibly kind and caring. Dr. Kim was fantastic with me, an extremely fearful patient. I like knowing what's happening and what to expect; he did a terrific job of explaining the various procedures to me before he did anything, and Dr. Kim made sure I wasn't in any pain and was comfortable. But if you're the type who would rather not know anything, that's okay too! Dr. Kim was also wonderful about making sure I knew what my options were, if certain procedures were necessary now or if they could wait until later (like, when I have more money!) or if a procedure was completely optional. I appreciate being informed and not pressured, unlike my former dentists who would just push *everything* on me. Dr. Kim makes my smile look like a million bucks, but his pricing is very reasonable and affordable. I can't recommend him enough. I, for one do not enjoy dentists. I haaate the whole dental experience. So when I had a funny feeling in my gums, I got nervous. But denial can go a long way, so I put it off and put it off...but it kept on getting worse AND I haven't been to a dentist in forever + a day, soooo I ran to the comfort of strangers here on Yelp. I found Dr Kim and liked what I saw and when I called, I was immediately put at ease b/c Dr Kim answered the phone himself! I was shocked b/c I was expecting a machine..it was the weekend, but he answers all the emergency calls personally...very cool. He was very comforting over the phone and even though he couldn't see me that day (it was a sunday so I don't blame him), he gave me some recommendations over the phone so that I wouldn't be in so much pain until he could see me the next day. Those helped alot so at least I would be able to function. But it was above and beyond what I was expecting...and this was the trend for my experience here. Even the next day went OK . I was nervous as hell! But his calming demeanor and they way he actually talked with me and listened to my concerns and bad experiences from a crazy dentist back in the IE made me feel better. Unfortunately, the gums needed some extensive cleaning procedure...but he PROMISED me I wouldn't feel any pain and he delivered BIG time on his promise. It went fairly smoothly...although the sound of the cleaning thing still makes my hair stand on end...but he was efficient, caring, gentle and patient. He even called to check up on me the next day....is that service or what?! I promised him I would write a great review for him and since he came through on his promise, I joined Yelp to come through on mine to help spread the word. I still have a crap-load of dental work to do, but at least now I have a dentist I can trust and rely on. read more

My name is Cristina and I am a senior with a disappointing experience at this practice, which resulted in my seeking the services of another doctor. This is unfortunate. Dr. Kim incorrectly advised me to undergo many thousands of dollars in bridge replacements among other expensive procedures, when all that was required was a simple filling that did not require removing the existing bridge. This fact was confirmed by two independent dentists, one of whom, I'm now seeing for my dental needs from now on. The only conclusion I can draw from this experience is that Dr. Kim is more concerned about monetizing his services to the extent that disenfranchises his elderly patients. In my seventies and on a fixed income, would have had to fork over over $10,000 to correct a problem that other reputable dentists could easily remedy (and with much less pain and hassle) for less that $3,000. Upon visiting the office, it is plain to see that (in my opinion) the overwhelming and extravagant use of computer screens, computers, gizmos, machines that go "ping"*, and other and superfluous equipment must have cost quiet a bit. Maybe, given his overhead, the motive becomes clearer. In summary, I would avoid this dentist, at all costs. Although outwardly "professional" he's actually a sneaky fellow and way too ROI-driven. Therefore, all I can manage is one star. Hope this is useful to someone. * The "machine the goes ping" refers to the famous Monty Python skit of the 70s. Dr. Kim was just amazing! I found him through Yelp and decided to go. Not only is he respectful of your time and kind but his staff is very helpful too. Bella the front desk person spent so much time on the phone with me explaining everything and answering all my questions. When I got there i didn't even have time to sit down, they just took me in and the Doctor followed exactly 1 min later. The previous dentist I had gone to had given me a full checkup and had estimated that there was a lot of work to be done to my poor teeth. Being extremely broke and having no insurance i wanted to make sure with a second opinion. So Dr. Kim took 4 more extra x rays and did a full check up, and this kind hearted man DIDN'T"T EVEN CHARGE ME A DIME!!! and guess what? this morning I received a Starbucks card and a thank you letter. i would recommend everyone to Dr. Kim but here are a few things you should know before going in. I rarely write reviews (just joined Yelp!), but Dr. Kim is so worth it! Let me start of by saying that I HATE going to the dentist. I haven't had the best dental experiences, and I can barely even stand to listen to conversations that involve dental issues. That being said, I was having some horrible tooth pain and I had no choice but to find a dentist. After days of referrals and horrible phone calls (just trying to find a good dentist was a bad experience), I decided to take my chances with the internet and I came across Dr. Kim's reviews and websiet. He seemed to have a lot of nice reviews, so I gave it a shot. I called the office number and was connected to Dr. Kim himself! Yes, after hours he has all calls directed to his cell phone. He pulled over to the side of the road to listen to my concerns about my teeth, and he scheduled me for an appointment that week. I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Kim and his staff. They are friendly, responsive, and attentive. Dr. Kim is both very kind and no-nonsense. He took a look in my mouth and very quickly identified that a) I grind my teeth and b) that I have acid reflux problems. I had never had a dentist tell this to me. Based on his recommendations, I've taken steps to prevent both problems. His hygienists are also very friendly and efficient. They give helpful advice without making you feel guilty. Another very unique thing about Dr. Kim is that he makes himself very available to his patients. You can reach him easily via phone or email at any time. It feels like you're getting special treatment by a family friend and not some anonymous dentist. I was referred here by a friend a few couple of years ago, and I've always been pleased with the results. I recently chipped a tooth and came in for a bond a couple of weeks ago. A few days later while I was eating a salad, the bond came out. What a relief that they were able to get me in to redo the bond by the second day. Dr. Keeny stands by his work, and there was no further charge. The admin staff is always friendly and on-top-of-it. I get email reminders about a month before my appointment and a real live human phone call the day before to remind me. They seem to have good availability, because I can always get an appointment at a time that works with my schedule. I have found my permanent dentist - no more searching required. I've been going to Dr. Kim coming up soon on 10 years. I go for regular cleanings as well as some crown work. Stopped shopping for another dentist once I found Dr. Kim because I find him to be caring, personal, extremely competent and conservative in recommending procedures - in other words, he has never recommended anything that I felt was unnecessary (and I've seen other dentists who did procedures and products, so I know the difference). Dr. Kim's staff is also great, and his office location is convenient for me. He's a dad and we share stories about our kids, which I love. Over a decade and still have NEVER been disappointed. The best dentist in glendale still! Customer service is still top notch and even with root canals (!) no pain ever. He still has not lost his touch with the quality of care. I have never had to go back to adjust my bite or for rough fillings. Everything is easy there...from the parking, to the NO waiting, to the painless fillings and procedures to the financials and billing and insurance , to checking out. This is my 1st and probably last time I will write a review. Dr. Lucio is absolutely WONDERFUL. He and his staff are professional, friendly & most of all, his facility is clean and immaculate. He truly cares about his patients and makes you feel so comfortable. He really LISTENS to what your needs are and makes sure every aspect is conveyed so you understand what is going to be done with your teeth. Update: Been a patient for over 3 years now and his service has been consistently top notch. Best dentist in glendale IMHO and I've been to a lot of them. His staff is excellent and really changes what you expect out of a dental office. He takes a conservative approach to my teeth which is great b/c they are not in good shape. Painless, efficient and friendly. Paperwork, insurance and billing have always been clear and upfront. Had one glitch due to the lame insurance company, but Dr Kim took care of it for me. I've said it before I'll say it again, Dr. Kim is legit the best dentist! Quick and painless he gets me in and out fast and efficient every time. Also he always gives you a couple options for dental work, usually stating the worst case scenario but he will take the time and use his expertise to educate you on what's best for your teeth, it almost never goes to the worst case scenario.
