I have been here several times and it never gets old. I've gone during the day when there is nothing really going on except maybe a local artist strumming his guitar, and I've gone when there is live entertainment for a charity benefit. Even when nothing much is going on, I love spending time lazing around Luckenbach. You can't leave without enjoying a beer or two, and we always buy something in the store. Everyone should visit here at least once to say they've seen this little Texas treasure. read more

I am huge fan of Luckenbach! The place has a feel like you stepped back in time and found a party in the backwoods. Luckenbach is a Texas staple that can't be imitated. The beers are always cold and inexpensive with a cool gift shop worth taking a look around. Although they don't serve liquor and sometimes the acts are not that great. Despite that I still give Luckenbach 5 stars. The Christmas show in my opinion the best time to go. The weather is cold with fires going to keep warm with a cold beer in your hand. There are fewer things better then being under a big star Texas night but Luckenbach captures that essence. Do yourself a favor and hit up Luckenbach. Especially if you are staying in Fredericksburg. It's a very short drive out there so there are no excuses. Just a heads up though. Luckenbach is literally in the middle of nowhere so pay attention when you get close or you'll miss the entrance. read more

We spent half the day in Luckenbach. Oh the nostalgia there. The buildings, the postings on the wall, one can just imagine all the goings on over the years and the entertainers that have performed there. Oh yeah, we had to buy a few touristy things but that's part of the fun. Don't expect a big town, it's just a few buildings. In fact if you blink you will miss it. We loved it for what it represents. Fun little venue out in the middle of nowhere! Stopped briefly while passing through on the way to Fredericksburg last weekend. The old Post office/general store is now a bar/gift shop & there's a big stage out back with plenty of room to chill out & enjoy some of Central Texas' brightest Americana acts. At night they charge a cover fee but free during the daylight hours. They also serve food & might update my review once I have time to correctly hang out & take in the good vibes the way it's supposed to be. read more

Stopped there just before new year and people were catching up on old times. Very rustic, raw woodsy setting. Hangout for everyone, all invited. Small window side cafe making burgers, chicken, sausage. Another area serves beer and soda. Personable people hanging out under the oak trees. Lots of motorcycle guys and gals frequent the place so you will see some gorgeous Harleys and assorted makes. The dance hall is big, slippery wooden floor just right for dancing. I have spent at least 12-14 hours sitting under the big oak tree, listening to local guitar players, talking to the friendly people-many of them locals, not tourist, drinking cold beer in that hot Texas sun. Luckenbach is the quintesential Texas dance hall (along with Gruene Hall) made famous by the Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson song "Luckenbach, Texas". The dance hall is closed during the day but has live music during the evenings on weekends - the bar however is open all day, good thing too or they'd have a riot on their hands! Luckenbach draws lots of bikers, car enthusiasts, cowboys and frat guys - making for some pretty interesting people watching. This is the perfect place to grab a beer, play some washers and listen to the country hippies jam - there's been a jam session of some sort going pretty much every time I've been out here. There is a general store that sells t-shirts and chachkies and on the weekends there's usually someone grilling up some food. so glad we stumbled upon this place !! now i got the song stuck in my head !!! cool little atmosphere. have a couple brews and listen to the locals play some tunes. couple cats roaming around,, along with some chickens , among other things. good people watchin spot too ! the food was pretty tasty we got the pulled pork sandwich, we kept seein people with spiral potato things (not curly fries) with cheese dip and the place we got our food from said they didnt have any cheese dip.. so were we missin something!? anyways we JUST missed the live band playin... they said every day at 1pm theres a band playin at the podium thing. was a good time real neat and makes you kinda enjoy yer day a little better; wish we can go back here soon! stillllll singin the song in my head ! read more

Tucked snugly in the middle of Hill Country, Nowhere in Particular County, TX is Luckenbach. Made famous in song, this neighborhood watering hole attracts locals, tourists, musicians, cowboy poets, and the occasional chicken combo. By combo I mean percussion, not dumplings. On the evening we stopped by we heard some lovely rustic tunes from some folks who just happened by and some witty cowboy poetry with insightful commentary on the times. Not to be missed. read more

The beer is cold and the dance floor gets jump'n! The stand that's there has one of the best BBQ pork sandwiches with slaw! We get one (or two) every time we are there! This is a once in a lifetime experience as far as I'm concerned. This "town" is tiny as in there is a parking lot and a few small buildings, that is all! If you aren't paying attention you will miss the turns to get here. The roads leading to Luckenback are all very rural and reminded me of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre-because no one would know you are out there! (LOL). We arrived early on a Sunday so there wasn't much to do but there were a good amount of people already here which is a good sign. I wasn't disappointed that I drove an hour out of Austin to come here-it's something I wanted to do even if I did just drink a beer and walk around for a bit and look at all the cool memorabilia that they have on their walls. Great reviews, everyone! This place is a TRUE Texas landmark. Been there many times on my bike, and my band ayed there a few times. Only one correction.... This is NOT the dance hall from "Hope Floats". The dancehall from "Hope Floats" is Watterson hall, located about 90 miles south in a small town called Red Rock. I am 100% sure, without a shadow of a doubt. My band played Watterson Hall tonight, and I got a lot of pics of the big star on the floor. So whoever debated that Luckenbach was NOT the dancehall in "Hope Floats" won the bet!! I can send pics if you want to see how it looks now. The star is still there, and the stage is the same as it was when Jack Ingram was playing in the movie!! read more

Bit about me: I grew up in Fredericksburg so I've been to Luckenbach dozens of times and enjoyed it everytime. Last night was not one of those times. I checked the band schedule and saw that the band for the night was on until 11:45pm, so we showed up around 10am thinking we'd get at least an hour of dancing. I paid $30 for two tickets, went in, and the band played two songs before they packed up and left over an hour early. We went and asked the ticket booth about a refund since we only got maybe 10 minutes of show for full price. The lady we complained to was nice and understanding but clearly not in charge, while the little tattooed guy skulking next to her informed us that the website says times are subject to change. There was a small crowd of upset customers who had been ripped off as much as $90 and the guy's customer service amounted to "there's a footnote on our website, you lose." I don't know if Luckenbach changed owners recently or what, but I doubt they'd tolerate the way their staff responded if they knew about it. I decided to leave rather than argue about it, but the staff response was really unprofessional. A+ on stealing my money though. read more

Just a little piece of history. Long time forgotten dance hall and music venue, Luckenbach resembles a small part of our past. What used to be a small village it has a population of 0. The signs say population of three, but, interviews with they natives indicate it is now 0. The US post office is now closed for service, however, the sign remains. Beer is still served cold and the liveliness is under the surface. Starting at about 10 AM each day you will find an aspiring artist singing and playing unplugged near the main stage. Tourist snapping photos and a few kinky locals hanging near the bar area. Weekends being a little more advanced singers and bands and not having been there a larger crowd. This is only a guest based on the number of Johnny Pots standing guard. Just an indication people will come. It is just a Linley stop on the town circle near Fredericksburg nearby. Now that's a town to visit. If your into the country music scene this is a nice stop to say " I've been there ". read more

REALLY??? Leave most of the advance ticket holders to the Los Lobos and Los Texmaniacs show last Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016 standing outside in the cold from 6:30-8:00, with none of the standing heaters turned on? There were a few "VIP" tickets sold, and they were allowed in when "the doors opened at 6:30". They were seated and warm(er)---no windows were ever closed---while the majority of the ticket holders stood outside and shivered. You'd think the owners would have realized how much beer and food could have been sold to seated customers. As it was, when we were finally allowed inside, everyone was ANNOYED. Some even left. VERY poor management. You need to clean house!! read more

Great location for concert but the entrance to "town" and post office smelled like one big porta potty which lined the street!

You have to visit Luckenbach. Go on a Friday night for a free concert in the dance hall, grab a beer, and relax. It's great to see people from 5 to 90 years old two steppin', and waltzing around a good sized dance floor. read more

This was a very cute place. We watched Bob Schneider at the Dane Hall. It was pretty hot but they did have ceiling fans going. I bet this venue is perfect in fall and spring when it isn't too hot or cold. It would have been nice to have a full bar but they had some good ol' beers at the beer stands. Although the outside of this building is mesmerizing, upon entrance the lack of elevative uplifting structural presence can confuse you-and that is the only problem with this place: the entrance a little claustrophobic.
