Ambiance: Rustic restaurant in Fredericksburg with a charming patio area - we chose Hondo's because they are dog friendly! The patio area was kept extremely clean and the fans actually made it bearable to sit outside for lunch at 11am in August (impressive!) They were setting up for live music and the service was fast. Enjoyed the quesadillas and loved the curly fries. Street parking out front, pet friendly, and a chill spot to eat after perusing Main Street.

Hondo's is exactly what you'd expect. An open, outdoor seating area and live music add to the ambience. The counter service is a nice touch for a quick ordering. We had a well-balanced meal of fries and salad, lol. Nothing over the top, but a nice meal as always at Hondo's.

The food was delicious-- Tex-Mex meets classic American bar type food. The matchsticks and queso were standout appetizers, some of the best I've had. The margarita was also delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly! There are both indoor and outdoor seating plus live music, overall a great vibe!

Nice place to hang out on Main Street in Fredericksburg, with outdoor seating and live music. The food is decent, though about what you would expect from a tourist-focused spot. Overall, it's a fun little place to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and spend some time downtown.

indoor and outdoor venue and is self service restaurant. i got the chicken sandwhich and curly fries and really enjoyed it. It's a LOT OF BREADING and very little chicken. made it seem bigger than what it is. regardless i left full and satisfied. my bf got a chicken fried chicken and he didn't like it that much bc its more breading than chicken. next time he's gonna swap the side out instead of mashed potatoes.

If there is one thing you shouldn't do in this life, it's get the "enchiladas" from Hondos. Also my sandal broke in the restaurant. Bad omen. The BURGER WITH CURLY FRIES HOWEVER WAS SOMETHING SERIOUS. I ate it so fast i couldn't even get a picture.

This spot came highly recommended from friends of ours on our trip to Fredericksburg! It's super casual, but the food is delicious! Portions are huge and if you're looking for a hefty dinner after wineries all day, this is your spot! The live music is also a nice touch! We were here in July so it was hot out but once the sunset it was pretty nice! We had the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken and both were delicious! Both were fried great and super tender! We'll definitely have to be back to try some of the other items on the menu!

Hondo's is super casual, so come as you are. You can tell everyone (including the locals) enjoy this place. Parking was pretty easy on the side street nearest. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. My friends and I went in mid-May, and it was already getting pretty warm. So, we were seated at a table inside. I found it to be pretty warm inside. The doors are kept wide open and I think that might've been the only air circulating. The space gives a nice Texas, country feel with lots of pictures on the wall. There was live music to enjoy, as well. Although you're seated, it's pretty casual in that you go to the bar to order your food and drinks. They'll give you a buzzer and you get your food from a pick up window inside. We really enjoyed our food and drinks. I can't remember the drink I had but it was strong and pineapple. I remember the pineapples being soaked in the alcohol as the selling point for me. We ordered a burger to split, curly fries covered in pulled pork and goodness, and queso with steak. Loved all of these but the queso was really more than I expected and it got cold fast. So eat it fast. All the portions were actually huge. I really liked Hondo's and would go back (earlier or later in the year).

Came here during Oktoberfest on a Saturday early afternoon and was seated right away on the open patio area. Live music was nice and the ceiling fans above the outside tables was much appreciated. We stuck w appetizers and margaritas and had a great time overall! Definitely would be back to try more items and the atmosphere.

This was a nice, upbeat place that my husband and I visited while on a romantic getaway. It was a bit of a wait to be seated and it would have helped if the host would have explained the process more clearly. You have to wait to be seated, then get in line to order food. The food was really good so it made up for it. I wouldn't object to visiting again.

    Hard pass on this restaurant!!!!

I had two Popsicle margaritas which were really tasty and on the strong side and he tried the jalapeño margarita.

We shared a few bottles of rosé and spent way longer than we planned because the atmosphere was just so inviting. The wine bar is set inside a beautifully restored historic home, with several cozy rooms that make it feel like you're relaxing in someone's stylish living room rather than a typical wine bar. It has such a warm, welcoming vibe. We loved that they also have a piano bar with live music in the evenings, it would be such a fun place to spend an evening! For clarification I have had a total of 3 glasses of wine since noon and it's currently 7 o'clock and I am writing this review as I am leaving. I have a strong understanding of TABC rules and regulations, and this question was misplaced and pretty rude. Pierson, the pianist, asked my group to sing a song we requested because he was unsure of the lyrics, then the staff asked the group to sit down. Not sure if this place is catered to the older crowd or just not accustomed to having girls who like to have a good time, but I wouldn't come back here if you payed me. Staff 2.7/10. Food 6.7/10. Blake greeted me and he was very friendly. I sat at the bar and ordered a burger and fries, chicken wings, and onion rings. They had one cook, and he was pretty cool. This was definitely a "locals" bar, but the staff made me feel comfortable. The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was fresh and hot. Everything tasted ok, but the burger and onion rings, which had been recommended by the bartender, were really good. The bar was well stocked, and the beer was cold. They had plenty of patio seating, and they host live music. The bar area and the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Parking on Main Street can be a challenge. Our server was friendly, but there were a few communication hiccups throughout the meal. We were served bottled water without being told there was a charge, which caught us off guard since most nearby restaurants offer complimentary water. The server also offered chips and salsa as we were handed menus, so it sounded like a complimentary starter, but it's actually $10 on the menu. After waiting about 40 minutes, we decided to cancel the order (which turned out hadn't been entered anyway). Service was pleasant but inconsistent. One of our friends arrived a few minutes after us and ordered coffee right away, but her cup didn't come out until well after ours, and when it did, the cup wasn't very clean. Also worth noting that gratuity is automatically added for parties of six or more, and they don't split checks. We accidentally double-tipped, but the manager was kind and quickly resolved it. On the plus side, the space is casual, dog-friendly, and has plenty of shaded outdoor seating. The food was the highlight. My Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich was flavorful with crispy fries, my husband's Hideaway Burger was cooked well, and our friend's Chicken & Waffles were tasty, though a bit heavy on the waffle and light on the chicken. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good, but the lack of transparency around pricing and a few service missteps made the experience less smooth than it could've been. Decent spot, but I'd probably try somewhere else next time.
