I seek out protein shake places on my travels! This quaint locally owned shop is in city market next to a healthy grab and go spot. I'm staying in Miramar beach for a conference at Hotel Effie in the Baytown wharf area. Lucky beach is about 20 minutes roundtrip. Since this is a popular vacation spot, expect Friday mornings to be busy! So if you're in a hurry, I recommend calling your order in ahead. I'm gluten free and dairy free, so I stay away from the chocolate based shakes. I got the funfetti two days in a row and I tried the purple dragon the first day and the jalapeño "margarita" flavored tea the next. I liked the jalapeño margarita loaded tea! Short version: Texas Tea! Trust me. Just go. Longer version: I'm always looking for healthy treats that keep me on track with my health and fitness goals but also taste good. Along came Lucky Beach. They are a lifesaver when I want something delicious that feels like I'm indulging but won't wreck my diet. There is something here for everyone! Even my kids (age 5 and 10) have their favorites. I stop in at least once a week to grab a "combo" of a shake and a loaded tea and would go more often if it weren't so expensive. Not that I'm balking at the price too much because when you think about it, you're going to spend that on breakfast and a drink (big enough to last your entire workday) just about anywhere you go. The owner is always there! I usually stop in on my way to the office in the mornings, but I've popped in mid-afternoon and over the weekend and there she is working away. She's always got a smile on her face and something kind to say. And she even puts my little coozies on my cups for me because I tend to be a little clumbsy with that. The owner... person in charge flat out lied to me . They advertise that the loaded tea has 2 net carbs... they use one liftoff in the large tea... one lift off is 4 carbs... she explained that the liftoff contained sugar alcohol that you subtract from the total carbs to get net carbs... this is how you find net carb amounts in addition to subtracting fiber. Lift off does not have fiber or sugar alcohol. This woman .... Looks at the box of liftoff and informed me that it had sugar alcohols. I am devoted loaded tea lover and low carb dieter. Stopped in here looking for coffee close to our vacation spot and was very pleased. An overwhelming number of choices was quickly navigated by recommendations made by the owner.
