Lunch specials are $6.50 with tax

The pepper steak at this place is delicious! It is a bit sad that the reviews don't reflect how good the food is. I have eaten both the pepper steak and the chicken fried rice and both of them were sooooo good. The last time I came in, I ordered the pepper steak during lunch hour and walked away in less than 10 minutes with a styrofoam container full of rice and peppers and onions for $6.50. Did I have enough food for lunch? Yes. Did I have enough food for a second serving? Why, yes I did. I wish this place as closer to work because if I was in a fix I would swing by here for the pepper steak lunch special. Just know that the place is tiny, there are 2 booths and that's it. I recommend you order this, pick it up, and take it to eat somewhere else and in case you didn't already know, they are cash only. Overall savory, cheap, substantial American Chinese food.

This is a great spot for cheap, quick, and tasty takeout chinese food. Way better than other takeout or delivery options nearby in terms of price, quality, taste, and portion size. Also just FYI it's cash only

-1 star for no recent menus available + 1 star for delivery speediness - 1 star for quality of food + 1 star for quantity of food - 1 star for absolutely subpar crab rangoons ----------- 2 star rating Going off the photos of the menu from last year, I called in a delivery order last night. It arrived quickly but came out to far higher a total than I was expecting. On the other hand, there was SO much food in the dinner special box, it was overwhelming. With the order of crab rangoon I added, it didn't even look like I'd made a dent in the food at all. The food: - The crab rangoon was, sadly, tasteless. The wrapper to filling ratio was way off, nowhere near enough cream cheese. - The General Tso's chicken was spicy but flavourful. The coating was a tad soggy. - The boneless spare ribs were nice and thin so that you don't end up with big gobs of fat, which was great. - The pork lo mein was surprisingly non-greasy and the pork was nice and lean. It was a lot of food but it wasn't all that good. I probably wouldn't order again unless I was highly intoxicated.

Here is the menu - page 1 (Dec 2014). I don't believe they have a website.

Finally found a solid place for the kind of chinese food that you love, but makes you feel terrible about yourself for eating. We have a tried a number of places in chinatown, Yummee here in the south end only to be disappointed. This was cheap, fast delivery and GOOD! We ordered a bunch of stuff for $35 bucks and the portions are huge. Favorites were cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken (comes with the normal red sweet and sour sauce with pineapple - not onion or pepper or random things that came from chinatown places), broccoli and garlic sauce, lo mein. Nothing tasted too greasy (even though I am sure it is) or had that film on the bottom of the container. My Tips: It is cash only, be prepared and delivery comes fast. Only order the small portions, I can't imagine what the quart portions are!

Roast pork lo mein - not bad! Definitely less greasy than most Chinese takeout places in Boston.

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

They come out piping hot and fresh, and can kind of be hazardous if you bite into them too quickly and cause the soup to spurt out. I don't think I've had better ones in the states! In fact, even in Shanghai, it's kind of hard to find good ones sometimes (at least ones that serve them all day and not just for breakfast). It's more of a takeout place as it's rather small, but the interior is clean and bright.

The chain seems to focus on Canton rice noodle rolls. Opted for the beef brisket lo mien and it came out quick. The highlight was the generous portion of beef brisket that was tender and fatty. Both Cantonese and Mandarin were seamlessly spoken. Shrimp Rice Roll / Egg: It looked very appealing. However, the soy sauce was ridiculously sweet, much sweeter than in China, completely exceeding the standard "umami and sweet" of the authentic Cantonese cheung fun腸粉 (rice roll) soy sauce. The cheung fun skin was somehow overcooked, so some parts without egg at the bottom were soggy from soaking in the soy sauce, making the whole roll quite greasy. I have to admire my culinary acumen: I managed to preserve most of the skin's basic texture with the extra egg. Fortunately, the shrimp were fresh enough, six in a serving, with a crispy texture. Oh well, since I'm in America, it's tolerable. I must say, I would never have come here specifically for this, never in my life. Spending $10+ on a plate of cheung fun after traveling so far, will make me feel more like a sucker than ever before!

Our server was attentive and replenished our water for the table as soon as they were empty without our even asking. Food 5/5: every dish we ordered represented Sichuan flavors well, especially the spiciness of it! Our favorites were the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce, with the chengdu dry hot chicken and the string beans. The braised beef with Napa cabbage and mapo tofu were also delicious. Ambience 3/5: super loud. It wasn't even the music, it was that people's conversations were bouncing off the walls in a small space such that it was not possible to hear the other people in my group except who I was sitting next to. I saw several dates there and hopefully they could hear each other ok. Drinks: 2/5 overpriced and disappointing. My Negroni was ok but my husband's Manhattan tasted watery like it had been shaken instead of stirred and the melon highball tastes medicine-y. Overall a good experience because we were hungry and the food was amazing. We made up for not hearing each other well by taking an evening stroll and talking as we walked.
