Havent visited Lucky Box and since we live in the area we decided to take out some plate lunches. We came at around noon and it wasn't to busy for a Saturday lunch hour. We ordered a loco moco, chicken cutlet and a fried chicken plate. Staff was friendly when taking our order and were fast to get them out to us! The loco moco was great! I enjoyed the gravy and their patty was a good size. The runny eggs are also a must!! The chicken cutlet was good as well. Crispy and flakey on the outside and the gravy was a nice touch. Best to eat it fresh before the chicken starts to get soggy. With so many on the menu, we plan to come back again to try out their other items! read more

I've been to the Kalihi location and it's nice to have one closer to home. Hamburger Steak is 3 home made patties. Enough to feed the two of us. So good that we ordered it again 2 nights later. Hidden gem for sure. read more

Tried out Lucky Box in Ewa Beach and ordered their specials -- regular Garlic Ahi plate ($11.99) and regular Sweet & Sour Sparerib plate ($10.99). The portions are huge. Each regular plate could easily feed two people, so it's definitely a great value for your money. Service was friendly and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. Came here after my chiropractor, I enjoyed the different variety of food that they serve here. I was recommended by a few today that everything here is superb! I decided to go with the mixed plate as i like a little bit of everything! The service is really friendly and "quick." It all seems to be made to order. The restaurant is more like a drive-in type of restaurant. Ordering "takeout" which you could eat inside like "plate lunch".(no fancy chinaware) The bbq chicken is probably top tier on the island! Definitely the top 3! I definitely will be ordering this combination again! It's a cute spot and didn't seem "busy" for a weekend. Surprisingly i would have expected more people to dine in, but there was a lot of people ordering, grab and go type. Everything seemed super fresh I would say, because it's made to order. Fried shrimp was nice and crispy too! The combo came with 6 shrimps and 2 chicken which is very abundant! The tartar sauce could have been in either a bigger togo souffle cup. The only thing i would not get again, the salmon sashimi. I believe it was like previously frozen and was still slowly defrosting when i consumed it. But, the marinade on the chicken was still something i would come back for! The portion sizes are very big and I would definitely like to try more! Good food at a good price. My previous review I couldn't give 5 stars but after today's visit... it was good. Only complaint I had was that the rice was mushy and inedible. Today the rice was cooked good and the food was good as usual. Every time I've gone there, the food has always been good. Every complaint I've had, they actually fixed it. Rice was good, no longer using aloha shoyu for the sushi and Mac salad was not bad neither The portion is massive if you take into consideration of the price. A regular plate cost me only $10.99 while most places are closer to $20. A plate was able to feed me for lunch and dinner. I recommend anyone to try this place out. read more

Stopped by for lunch yesterday for the first time and was surprised to see reasonably priced plate lunches. We got a super yellowtail roll, spicy ahi roll, ahi nigiri, chicken katsu plate, side fries and pancakes. Everything came out to around $60. The katsu was LOADED! Couldn't even close the container. It was very good and had plenty chicken meat (not just breading). The pancakes was super good too. Big and fluffy! My kids loved it. The sushi wasn't the best here, I wouldn't get it again. Our church is located close to this shopping center so we decided to give Lucky Box a try as we were in the area on a non-Sunday (they're usually closed when we've checked their hours). My husband wasn't too hungry but wanted to try a variety of food. His pick was a combo with a sushi roll and a chicken cutlet (katsu but with gravy). The side box we forgot to open for the pic was the rice and Mac salad. Overall he said it was tasty but the rice in the roll was a tad too hard for his personal taste. The cutlet was cooked perfectly though and still retained a crunch although it was covered in gravy. I got a mix plate with roast pork and the garlic fish filet. I saw another Yelper get this and it's normally two of my favorite things in one! Buuut the roast pork fell flat for me. It was tough and heavy on a 5-spice flavor that was not overwhelmed by the brown gravy. The flavors to me didn't match up and I ended up taking it home for the grandpa who more than happily ate the leftovers (I get my taste from him!) On the other hand the garlic fish filet was ONOLICIOUS! Fried so it was lightly crispy and covered in some of the best garlic sauce ever I'm glad they put a bit of it on the Mac salad. It is a GAME CHANGER. Normally I ask for all rice and don't eat Mac salad. Too much mayo makes my tummy hurt! And while I only had maybe 2 bites - the garlic sauce? On the Mac salad? First time at the Ewa location. Notice Kalihi one has local and Chinese options (Lucky Box Restaurant), and Ewa has local and Sushi options (Lucky Box BBQ & Sushi). Hubz was craving fish so here we are. Huge menu... we took a while to decide. Lots of seating and tables to dine-in. Food came out timely and freshly cooked. My Pork Cutlet plate was heavy and filled to the top... perfectly hot crispy pieces with gravy, rice & mac salad. We also enjoyed the Grilled Salmon and Super Yellowtail Roll. Hours are good. I tried this place in Ewa Beach because I saw a pic of their fried fish plate. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was so good that I went back a week or two later and got it again. Met up with a friend here for dinner with my husband to check out this new restaurant in the area. They offer a mix of local dishes and sushi, but the sushi quality was underwhelming. We got a sushi platter and it honestly reminded me of something you'd find at Costco, BUT Costco's might be better. We weren't really expecting anything grand or spectacular about this place, just a decent, maybe average meal, but unfortunately it did not really meet that. Service was subpar and you have to go to the counter to order and pick up your food. The one who took our order at the counter was a Chinese lady. We ordered water but was given sodas. I don't think I'll be back. There are better places in the area with better food and service. read more

Decided to try this place for lunch. We ordered take out at 12 and was told it would take 30 min to prepare the food. The service was good, as the person who answered the phone had a nice pleasing voice and she read back our order correctly. When it was time to pick up our food, the place was really busy with people eating food and waiting for their order. There were a few people in line waiting to pick up their order or to place an order. Our order was ready and we decided to eat at home, which was a few minutes away from the restaurant. My boyfriend got the regular size chicken katsu plate and I got a mini Mochiko chicken, a California roll and can Pepsi. Unfortunately, the food was just ok and kinda basic. The chicken katsu plate had a lot of chicken and it was very crispy but the taste was underwhelming and the katsu sauce was watered down. I got the mini Mochiko chicken, which lacked in flavor and the Mac salad was over cooked and had just a mayonnaise flavor. The California roll was the same size as an iPhone 14 phone. Not much flavor to the rice and again very basic. I had high hopes for this place but maybe they were having an off day. I'll give them some time to workout the kinks and maybe try again in a year. read more

Lucky Box restaurant just opened in the shopping center located near Dominoes and KFC. Browsed their menu looking to do a takeout order. They offer a variety of plates similar to l&l except they also offer sushi which I will try in the future when I do dine in! I ordered a teriyaki beef and chicken katsu lunch plate. Wanted to try this new place in Ewa Beach. They are by Kentucky Fried Chicken. Of course lots of parking available. Pretty good menu options. Nice lady at the counter. There is seating inside or you can take out. We ordered, wife had the chicken katsu. I had hamburger steak and fries on the side. The problem. Took little over half and hour for our food to arrive. Thats kinda long. After us alot of people ordered. All of them hanging around waiting for their food. I gotta say they are very generous with the portions. But the foods taste wasn't that good at all. I was bummed. Gravy was bland. Salad was the same. Wife didn't like the katsu aswell. If you try this place out maybe you'll have a better experience then us. Bottom line. Would we go back. We talked about this on our way home. The answer is no. read more

Super affordable lunch in ewa! I saw this place open a few months ago and finally got to try it today. We got the regular chicken katsu which was one of the specials today so it was discounted to only $9.99, and we got the mini loco moco. The katsu was really crispy and the sauce was just like l&l's. The loco moco patty was homemade and was super flavorful and thick! My fiancé and I shared both and couldn't finish half of the katsu. You can always tell how good a place is by their Chicken Katsu lol. I ordered the mini but the lady said that they had a special, that the regular size is just a dollar more. We also ordered a burger deluxe with fries. Their menu had a variety of things to choose from. Some interesting ones like Beef stew spaghetti caught my eye and will come back to try that. The food came out quickly and the proportions didn't disappoint. Their prices were super reasonable. Quality food, good quantity and a great price! This place opened by my house just before NYE and I only got a chance to try it recently. It opened in a location that seems to have a short life span for the tenants but I hope this one sticks around. I feel like the plate lunches are super affordable given how $$$ they have become in general. They also make sushi and it was pretty damn good. They open early and serve affordable breakfast so can be another option for all the teenagers walking to school. In fact I hope those teenagers eat here after school too before going to Taste Tea. I love that there here in my neighborhood, they are so nice and always make my order the way I like it . I always order the lucky burger combo , it's how I remember my dad use to make it for me old school and hand made patty & good old crinkly fries. I also love the ginger chicken , but order tea sauce cause I like having more sauce with my chicken. My husband love the amount of food they serve cause he always feels like he got his moneys worth . We try different dishes this is our first time here an so far we love this place . Oh and there catering menu never disappoints , my guests loved there food as well an also moneys worth. It's a small restaurant but they definitely give sooo much food. The price is super cheap compared to a lot of other restaurants. The workers are friendly. There's a huge selection on food options. We were here for a late lunch, early dinner thing. We walked in being unimpressed with the menu but wanted to try it still. This location has taken over where Da Pho Village used to be. The seating and tables are the same. Noticeably, there is a whole wall of storage to the right of the restaurant filled with boxes, something that they should try to hide but thats where the garbage bin is as well. We sat down expecting someone to serve us water. That didn't happen. Everyone just stood behind the counter. Not what I was expecting. They did hand is us a small menu pamphlet. The menu is confused, a third american, a third plate lunches, and a third sushi. Most times, but not all times, when I see a menu as unfocused as this, the taste will show how confused they are about their food. I think this was the case. We ended up ordering 4 waters, a small sushi platter, a saimin, and cheeseburger. The saimin we asked to remove but it still ended up on our table. The waters somehow got upgraded to 3 sodas and fruit punch for the child in our party. We don't really drink soda but might as well since the waters were missing. The sushi was small. Smaller than maybe costco What made it worse was the rice was hot. Never had hot rice on sushi. It was only ok like eating an appetizer. The burger and saimin was an order we didn't taste since that was a child's order. Judging from the few bites of both she ate, it was probably not good also. Overall I'm unimpressed. I have heard about Lucky Box and it's quite out of my normal commute so have yet had the chance to visit. But lately saw they opened a second place right around my neighborhood, and a post in the FB group I joined, there is no more excuses and had to try it out. Opted for their ""build your favorite choice combo" with chicken cutlet and Kalua pork. Was pretty shocked about how much food and its price. That's at least 2 lbs of food in my box!
