I like their food as it's always consistent and always quick. Not the most prettiest but the food is great. I always get meat jun and Kalbi.

Went here twice in one day. Found out if you don't want rice, they will give you extra side option. I got mini plates because they give generous amount of food. This time around I ordered fish Jun, meat jun and chicken katsu. Took it home and ate it with rice since we got the extra side. Also got the side order of mandoo. It came with 10 pieces. I was told this place is way better than Pearls BBQ in Laulani Town Center. Once I entered the establishment, we were already greeted by an old lady who worked the front. Menu is the same as all other Korean take out joints and also pricey like all other Korean joints. I was told to taste the meat Jun so I ordered that along with the Elim Special combo which comes with a little of bbq beef, kalbi , bbq chicken and a piece of mando. It was okay and nothing different to me. The bachans that we ordered was japchae , Kimchee, potatoes shoyu and mayo, and seaweed. The only thought I had about this place is that they give a tiny amount of side dishes for a $21 plate. It was kinda tight and if comparing, Pearls over at Laulani give way more. I hate writing negative reviews on small businesses and especially when it is one that I have fond memories of from living in Ewa Beach. We made it back to Ewa after 13 years & could not wait to get to my favorite Korean Barbeque. Been dreaming of it for a long time, and finally made it and it was my worse nightmare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We knew something was off as soon as we walked in 1) you use to have wait forever because of the crowds (place was empty) 2) floors were grimy and boxes of supplies stored in the seating area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I get the feeling hard times hit at some point as everything looked like it was just holding on from the tables to the tape with adjusted prices on the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a combination plate in hopes that the food was still good, nope, the disappointment continued. 1) Kimchi made with regular cabbage (my wife who is Korean told me that this was a cheap way to make Kimchi). 2) Mac Salad tasted so funny that I had to spit out & I love me some Hawaiian Mac (broke my heart) 4) potatoes were meh 3) pics show what was edible and probably because we were starving and $22 invested in the plate. They give lots of food and always go to this place at least twice a month. On our way to deliver gifts in Ewa Beach, my husband discovered and informed me about this eatery via Yelp. I mentioned to my hubby, "I haven't heard of this place. Where in Ewa Beach?" He said, "In the shopping center by Longs." Mini Meat Jun includes your choice of two veggies with one scoop of rice or three vegetables. Chose three sides of kim chee pancake, firm tofu and chop chae/jap chae. Loved their thinly marinated and sliced meat jun that stays intact in egg batter with or without sweet and spicy dipping sauces. Firm tofu contained hints of shoyu, minced carrots and green onion which I love and doesn't break apart. Chop chae/jap chae tasted perfect in texture while easy to slurp. Now that's how chop chae/jap chae should be. Texture of kim chee pancake reminded me of a savory and spicy cake which I didn't enjoy. Lady was very gracious and accommodating as we dined in. I haven't been here in years. We used to live in older side of ewa beach but have since moved to the newer subdivision. This was our favorite korean restaurant. I don't know if it's different owners- but the food was very salty, and even the banchan was too salty. The portions are definitely smaller than before for the expensive price of the plates. And there's some kind of extra customer service fee? Maybe bc I paid with credit card, idk? They should state the extra fee. I remember before they were cash only. This place is your mom and pop version of a friendly Korean BBQ. Everyone has their take on where to go for best tasting meat jun. Here, the BBQ beef to kalbi and bibimbop is all top quality. Their kimchee was more on the salty side but I prefer more of the sour taste. As far you may already know meat jun or spelled as jhun/juhn lol due to different ways business owners like to spell em, but it is not authentic to Koreans. Therefore, you are eating something a local Korean started. As far as know, years ago, you would not even find meat jun in others states. But this is a staple fave for kids. It is like you figure I do not want to feed my child McDonald's. Elim's is our compromise. We normally would order from Waipahu but since it was Easter Sunday, many places were closed. I will highly consider dinging here instead of other Korean BBQs due to price, taste and friendly service. They are maintaining social distancing rn so take out only. Not to mention, cash only. This was our first time eating here. We heard good things so we thought we'd try them out. They offer your typical Korean style foods with your regular choices of sides. I really liked their bean spouts and cold long rice. Our food was made quickly which I really like and the cashier was really friendly. I felt like they look COVID serious with the safety precautions they had in place and there was lots of room for social distancing. We ordered their Meat Jun plate and is was very tasty. We got there at about 5 pm, no line at all. The ladies took our order and quickly asked us what sides we wanted. It took about 20 min for our food to come out. I think their drink refrigerator (next to the sides) is broken or needed ice because the drinks had lots of condensation on them. The meat jhun was good, i didn't care too much for the sauce. I've only tried the meat jun and chicken combo plate here and buggah is pretty ono! Their sides are really impressive and really good too! You get 4 with the combo and I especially LUV the kim chee pancake and tofu options here... as sides... yes, as sides! Besides the sides, the BBQ Chicken is nicely done, not over cooked but not very tender. Nice big pieces though so worth the price. I've had other places charge you plenty, but not give much in a combo plate. The Meat Jun is good, but I'm a loyalist to Dong Yang's style Meat Jun, but when in Ewa, beggars can't be choosers. They give 2 kines of dipping sauces, 1 soy looking and 1 spicy looking... I just dip in both and tastes good anyway ;) The plate comes with a healthy serving of rice underneath all da food, so maybe unload all your chicken and meat jun on the other half of your container and then you can have access to your rice. The chicken katsu, one of their signature dishes is now pounded out so thin and deep fried to a shoe leather consistency. It has become dog food as it's to tough to chew. Wow, it's been years since I reviewed this establishment and it's been years since I visited this spot. Things have certainly changed from my last review and my last visit. However, I think their "only cash" policy still stands. I never confirmed but it's engrained in me to bring cash when I go to Elim's. This is how much I went to Elim's between 2009, up until I moved to the mainland in 2013. I love my meat jun so this review is solely for their meat jun plate. Meat jun is basically what I ordered anytime I came here, besides the kalbi. The flavors seems to have remained the same: delicious as ever. One major difference is that they now pack the plate. OooO wiee! If I don't share my plate lunch, I can get two meals out of it. The plate still comes with sides. I certainly haven't changed. I defaulted to my normal picks: potato salad, japchae, kimchee, and my normal greens. Both sauces that comes with the plate are liquid gold.
