I asked about it, but was told it was too late to apply, which was disappointing. The beef bowl itself was pretty simple--just beef, rice, and some onion slices. I was expecting red ginger as a standard topping, but it didn't come with any. I also didn't realize you could add an egg, which might have made it better. Taste-wise, it was okay, nothing special. We usually go to the Pearl City location so when we found out that there was one opening up near home, we decided to try it out since we love Japanese curry. I ordered for pick up through Ubereats. It was about 10-15 minutes for it to be ready for pickup which gives me enough time to drive and get there after ordering. I ordered the chicken katsu curry bowl and the beef bowl. Our usuals whenever we order here. Once I picked up the food and unpacked it at home, I noticed that the curry was missing so I unfortunately had to drive back to ask for the bowl of curry. I showed the receipt and the worker just gave me a new bowl of curry. He didn't acknowledge anything on something that was wrong on their end. Other than the lack of customer service, food was pretty good. Enjoyed the curry as always and the katsu was fresh and hot with a little crisp. I saw this place pop up on Yelp so I wanted to give it a try. It looked new and unique and I liked the concept. I sent my hubby to pick up 3 bowls and 4 pieces of tempura. We ordered one large chicken Katsu bowl, 1 medium chicken Teri bowl, and one medium beef bowl. The chicken katsu bowl was not a large. They just put the food in a larger size bowl. There was one whole piece of chicken cut up. The 4 pieces of tempura was $12.95 and while it tasted good, it wasn't your typical veggie tempura with a whole vegetable pieces. It was like a mini potato pancake. Not worth the price. The beef bowl had grizzly pieces of meat throughout (my Mom couldn't eat it). The Ontama chicken Teri bowl was ok. The whole order was $64.29. We've ordered it 3 times now in the past couple weeks I love the meat because it doesn't have weird gristle or giant fat chunks in it, it's super flavorful and tender, and comes with a good amount! My experience was average, hence the 3 stars. I ordered large chicken katsu curry rice bowl and large ontama egg beef rice bowl. The prices are a little steep, I paid almost $40 for both items. I could've ordered the chicken katsu curry for cheaper at coco ichibanya curry house, but I decided to try it here on a whim. My husband and I stopped by Matsuzaka-Tei for our favorite beef bowls while we were in the area. This location is for takeout only, so we brought our meals home to enjoy. The service was friendly and fast, and the food was as good as always! I had the mini ontama beef bowl and my husband tried the Ontama Teriyaki Brothers (half chicken, half beef with ontama eggs) and loved it. He suggested adding some kewpie mayo and furikake we had at home to my bowl, and it made my beef bowl even better! The only thing missing was the ginger on the side, staff forgot to add it. Looking for a place to get takeout. I know Matsuzaka-Tei is takeout only so it was perfect plus I was in the mood to try the takoyaki beef rice bowl. I called three times to place a phone order and no answer. I nearly skipped out on coming here but decided to drive here and place the order in store. We walked in and wasn't greeted at all. Waited a while until the worker noticed we were there. Then he approached the counter to take our order. Customer service is definitely lacking. I at first felt bad because it seemed like he was the only person working, preparing bowls and taking orders(we were the only people there beside a person waiting), until i saw there was actually another worker in the back that could've greeted and took our order. Apparently they offer a rewards card and I didn't even know until I had read the sign on the wall at the counter with the sauces. If i had known about the rewards program, I would've gotten a card to earn stamps. Also i see they put their delivery app orders on the counter for drivers to pick up but with the workers lack of awareness on who comes in and out. It seems irresponsible. Anyone could walk in and just take the online order without them knowing and walk right back out. Also maybe they should implement a bell on the door so they can hear who's coming in or a bell on the counter for customers to ring. After reading other reviews apparently not acknowledging their customers seem to be a thing here that clearly hasn't been corrected by managers to their staff. Other than the lack of customer service, the food was just as you expect, beef in a bowl, rice and sauce which I had put sukiyaki all over the meat. Takoyaki is tasty! Matsuzaka-Tei has been my all time favorite beef bowl place on island since 2017 and I was so happy to hear that they opened a location in Ewa Beach since it's nearby where I live. At this location, they offer the same exact food options as their other locations. I ordered my usual mini ontama beef rice bowl with extra ontama (I was too hungry to take a pic before I finished it!) and the quality is just like the Pearl City location's beef bowl. There's a good beef to rice ratio and the ontama has this custard-like consistency that I really like. I just wish I remembered to put Japanese mayo on top because it makes the beef bowl even better! Honestly? I'd recommend any of their food items but I love their ontama beef rice bowl the best. Inside, it's really clean. There's a counter where you can order from and a smaller counter where you can add various sauces to your food. There are no seats or tables so it's more of a takeout place. I've been to this location twice and so far I've received really good customer service. Both times, they reminded me that they offer a 10% discount to military, students, and seniors. I was able to get 10% off with my student ID! Be sure to remember to ask for a stamp card so that you can get a $5 discount after filling it up. read more

I was pleasantly surprised one day doing a package drop off near by that this was opening very close to home. I ran into the manager while they were working on the restaurant. At the time, he said it would open June 25 or 26th. I told him I'd be there! I have been checking in person every day for their opening since and today is the day! It's a grab and go place unlike the Pearl City location with booths to sit and eat in. I ordered a mini ontama beef bowl and mini ontama teriyaki bowl. The only way to eat these bowls is to wash them down with two melon sodas! Like usual, the bowls are generous even for minis filled with meat and rice. I have no complaints. That was worth the week wait and check physically! In the end, I'm satisfied and happy that they were able to expand this business. They are worth supporting and have always been as good as they are today. To start off, let me just say that before this location opened, I would always make the drive to Pearl City just to eat at Matsuzaka Tei, it's just that good. I am so happy that they opened a location in Ewa beach, no more far drive for me. I came in 10 min before closing and the workers still accepted my order and made my food quickly and were friendly. It's a very clean location, no tables or chairs to eat inside, but that's ok, you can always eat it at home or in the car if you're super hungry. The quality of the beef and the favor never disappoints! I always get the side of pork katsu as well, and I love that it comes with pickled radish if you ask. Located where Bangkok Chef used to be, across from Safeway in Ewa. Tons of parking, though the lot does get a bit full at times, you'll always find parking eventually. No place to eat inside, so be ready to eat in your car or at home! read more

Matsuzaka-Tei is a new take out restaurant that opened up in Ewa. They have two other locations: Pearl City and Kalihi. There is no tables inside so you have to take everything to go. I ordered the Vegetable Tempura Bowl and the Ontama Egg Beef Rice Bowl. Luckily, they knew to separate the soup and the noodles from each other so it doesn't get soggy. Service was great, and the food came out fast. The lady that took my order was very helpful and kind. She provided a stamp card for me to use for future visits. (10 stamps = $5 off). The Beef Rice Bowl was very good. My recommendation is to get extra sukiyaki sauce and chili peppers to add to your rice bowl. It gives so much flavor. Discounts are offered (10% off) for military, current students, and seniors over the age of 60. Valid ID is needed. I would 100% come back for the beef rice bowls! read more

They serve tasty food with a short waiting time.  My favorite to recommend is their takoyaki beef bowl.  I always get a side order of vegetable tempura.  The mini-sized bowl is perfect for those who prefer smaller portions but even w/ the mini I always have leftovers. Pros: I go here at least 1-2 a week so that should be a telling of what I think of their food lol.  They give military and student discounts. Wait time isn't too long. Portions are good. Prices are reasonable. The staff are friendly. Cons: This place is strictly to-go because there's no space inside to eat, only enough space to order and pick up. Unless it's empty, the courteous thing to do is wait outside until your food is ready.  Also, there are nearby benches to sit on if you don't mind not having a table but the closest tables to eat are across outside of Safeway. read more

I placed an order for beef shrimp tempura udon bowl but when I got home, beef was missing. Verified my receipt and sure enough, receiver who took my order must've just heard tempura udon. Been a regular customer of Matsuzaka-Tei for years at their Pearl City and Kalihi locations. Very happy to see they've opened one in Ewa Beach. Been there multiple times and the food is still of good quality. Hungry days the large pork tonkatsu curry rice bowl is my go-to. Lighter days, the shrimp tempura udon hits the spot. Ive been craving gyudon and lo behold, I noticed this restaurant opened in my area! I love that I don't have to travel far to get delicious rice bowls! I noticed they also serve udon and tempura- I'm excited to eat through their menu! They also have military and student discount and a stamp card. Be aware that they are unable to combine cards, so keep yours on hand. The place is clean, with a small area to put extra sauce or mayo/spice. There's no place to really sit down, but the food came out within 10 min for both my bowls. I tried their gyudon with onsen egg and a curry gyudon for my brother- the curry was mild and tasty, and not too salty or sweet. Same with the beef itself, wasn't too sweet or gingery :) The onsen egg had a big shell piece on the bottom tho, it blended in so they might have missed it but I was able to take it out. I didn't take off a star cuz it was minaaah, and they just opened recently. the food was more than enough to make up for it! read more
