I'm not sure why everyone makes it a big deal that they are a cash only establishment. There are multiple signs everywhere and the girls will repeat themselves over and over that they do not take any card whatsoever.. that's what CASH ONLY means!! But yes, as of 2026 and all the years prior... bring da Green! The plates are very fat! and maybe that's why people who are fans don't fuss over the price. You can very will split a mini in to two portions and you can sub rice for extra veggies. I love the Tasty Combo bc i love variety, Husband loves the Bibimbap. I don't think the service is bad at all, but the girls are young so don't expect to be blown away. Regarding the banchan, if you want something specific, give them a call bc sometimes they don't have it that day of if they ran out, they don't replenish it. Restaurant is pretty small so although there are tables available, it can get pretty crowded inside so it can be uncomfortable if you're trying to eat. The courtyard is a great option. Got the Bi Bim Kook Su, med spice. Noodles were red, but had zero spice and zero taste. Was like boiled noodles with veggies and sliced bbq meat. Some of the veggies (cabbage, bean sprouts, cucumber) was very salty and the green veggie (Choi sum?) was tasteless and a little bitter. Not worth the money. Talk about the biggest plate ever!!! It's my birthday and we've got a lot going on. My husband said the least we can do is grab lunch. Korean food sounded delicious so after running some errands we dropped by. Walked in and ordered at the counter and paid. There's seats and tables to eat there but we had to run home so opted to take to go. We ordered one mini kalbi, regular combo with meat jun and bbq chicken for my daughter to share and then a side mandoo. Food was ready in no time and it was piled high. The mini plate came with 2 side dishes and the regular came with 4. Our bag was so heavy and the food could barely survive the Togo container. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher review? This has been a long standing local business that serves very good Korean plate lunches! I have gone here several times and always end up ordering yookgaejang and a BBQ chicken/meatjun combo plate. The food is made well, the sides are fresh, and the portion size is good for what they charge. The woman who owns this place is very good at what she does. She double checks everything, keeps her restaurant clean, and is willing to work with you if there are ever misunderstandings. I was very impressed with how she handled a miscommunication we had and was very good at explaining how to clearly place an order on something so that there was no misunderstandings moving forward. I appreciate that type of clarification because she understands how it was misunderstood on both sides, but still showed customer service by correcting the error on her part. I can confidently say that that mistake will not be made again...and I even told mt friend that placed the order haha. The young girls that work there are also very sweet and considerate to the customers that enter. The owner really works hard to not only make tasty food, but to also provide excellent service, follows through with correct orders, and trains her staff well. Vegetable sides were a little disappointing as they were a bit bland. Our mistake asking for a mild kimchi soup as it ended up coming out clear. Been coming here for years but never left a review. Most customers usually takeout here although there are a few tables to sit. It's a simple casual no frills place. I usually get the BBQ Beef and you can substitute rice to get the 5th side order. Food tastes good and portions are generous. This place is popular so you know the food must be good. The counter is usually well staffed so service is quick. Never had any complaints about food or service except that they accept cash only. It's good that they give the total price upfront when you make a phone order and tell you it's cash only. Parking for this shopping center is large but many times is full. We've been coming here for many years usually to order their meat jun with or without rice and four or five choices of veggies either dine in or take out. My husband called via phone on multiple occasions to order two meat jun plates, no rice, with five choices of veggies. We didn't run into any issues or concerns. There are no signs on the menu or in the restaurant indicating no substitutions. Fast forward to this year, first time, the worker gave him a hard time, yet was apologetic. On April 16, 2024, second time, an older woman argued with my husband and stated he didn't say no rice. That same woman didn't offer any apologies. She also placed scoops of rice from both of take out containers that was already filled with other food back into the big rice cooker. Very unsanitary! My husband vented his frustration and stated, "He will not return there. Customers are always right." Has the restaurant ever considered the following reasons that customers choose not to order rice: 1) require a gluten free diet due to bodies intolerance to rice or starch. 2) under doctor's orders to reduce carbs intake. 3) love to maintain slim figure, etc. I will not tell you how to run your business because I know that you're able to figure out the reasons that workers are hung up on giving rice as part of the meal. We missed the Korean/Hawaiian Fusion barbeque when we left the Island in 2012. Tasty was one that we frequently visited for lunch as we worked nearby. It was not my favorite, but after this visit it moved to #1 as the other ones took a serious step backwards in quality & taste. Tasty was Tasty, from my fish Jun to my wife's soup and all the sides. While still very tasty, they've become more expensive while more stingy with the food. The meat jun is extremely thin and often has uncooked flour in the batter. A regular plate is now TWENTY SIX DOLLARS and the plate itself falls apart before you get home. The girls on the phone and at the register are often very irritated and short with customers as well. I totally understand how things are in this economy currently but almost $30 is absolutely unacceptable. Mini plates run about $17 depending on what you get, and regular plates are around $23. When ordering, I asked the cashier if the cook could cut the Kal Bi into pieces. She said, "No can," but offered me a knife instead. I also asked if I could do a half‑pound side order and split it into two items--again, "No can." When I finally got my food, my Meat Jun was cut into pieces... which made me wonder why the Kal Bi couldn't be. I tried cutting it myself, but the plastic knife broke. I went back to get another knife and a cup of ice for my not‑so‑cold soda, but the cashier said we don't have and no cups. At that point, this place should've been called "No More, No Can. I called around 6pm to place a takeout order for a combination plate. When I was ordering my banchan, 3 of the 4 I asked for were all out. So I asked for 3x for one side and was told rudely "we can't do that". I asked if they could make an exception since they didn't have 3 of the 4 that I wanted. Posting as a family of 6 with 4 children being 6 and under. The size inside is small with little room for a stroller. The portion size of a plate is huge. We bought one plate lunch of kalbi and fish jun and halved it equal parts. (NOTE: they will not give you extra plates.) I just moved to Mililani Mauka and I'm still exploring the area. There's a bunch of takeout places in the town center and I thought I'd try this place. Service was fine. I was promptly greeted upon entry. I really didn't know what I wanted so I thought I'd go for a combo. That way, I get to try a couple of dishes. I ordered the Kalbi / BBQ Chicken combo. Mini was just over $15 with rice and 2 sides. 3 sides if you opt out on rice. But hey, us Asians GOTTA have rice! So, mini is $15 and change. A regular was well over $20. That's quite expensive if you ask me! What's worse is that they don't accept credit cards or any phone app payments. CASH ONLY. in this day and age, that's a huge disadvantage on the business's part. The wait was just about 15 minutes. Not bad at all. My order was nicely packed in a plastic bag and I was given a friendly "thank you" by the girl behind the counter as I left. I immediately dug in when I got home. It was 6:30pm and I'm now having lunch. (Or breakfast....I haven't had that either!) Everything tastes good when you're hungry! I guess I wasn't THAT hungry.... The kalbi was a bit tough and lacked flavor. The chicken was a bit bland as well. It's like the meats should have marinated a day longer... As for the sides, I asked for mac salad and kim chee. Mac salad was decent, but the kim chee was a tad sour. It looked fresh, so I don't know what would give it that tart taste. For caution's sake, I just ate a tiny bit and discarded the rest. There was a little surprise in the form of a mun doo. One piece of mundoo was in the plate. Nothing special, but a nice touch. For a brief moment, that mundoo made me forget I paid a little over $15 for a mediocre plate lunch. Idk about other people but this place is my favorite Korean food. It's probably because I've grown up eating here, coming after soccer practices and games. It's also my sister's favorite place on the whole island! We moved to Kailua later and there's another one in Kaneohe but that just didn't do justice compared to this one.
