It's a casual ambiance. The BBQ pork was amazing and the fish sauce was great to add flavor to the noodles. It wasn't overly fish-y or anything. My friend loved the vegan pho as well. I highly recommend the fruit tea; their green tea is very light and it just tasted like juice. They also brew the tea leaves in house, they don't use powder. I finally tried Lucky Cat Bistro recently and love it! They are closed on Sunday's and Monday's and for a while there those were the days I wanted to dine here. I'm so happy there's finally a Vietnamese restaurant in Novato! The flavors were fantastic, I ordered the steak and brisket pho and my mom got the bbq lemongrass pork with vermicelli noodles. The lady who took our order was friendly and appreciated our business. It took a little while for our food to come out but it was worth the wait! The ingredients are fresh and we both finished our food. There's a couple other items on the menu I'd like to try including the bbq pork and shrimp and egg roll combo with vermicelli and the beef bulgogi plate. I would get the pho I ordered again and try other ones. I love the decor with the lucky cats on the walls and some other nice wall art. The had a good amount of tables but it looks like they might be able to add a few more. When I paid at the register the lady let me choose one of many cat stickers. Don't let the location of this restaurant in a small strip mall fool you! read more

Review #011 - 2026 After my nephew's graduation ceremony, we were all starving so we sought out the closest restaurant and this was where Yelp pointed us to. With thirty-seven 5-star reviews, I would imagine it can't be too bad. But then again, Asian food is pretty limited in this area so there's probably not much for the majority of the locals to compare them to. Our group of 11 showed up around 12:45 PM on Friday, June 12th and we were seated right away since the place was pretty empty. Four of my siblings ordered different rice plates and they each said their food was just ok. The other five ordered different soups, but the beef broth was on the saltier side since I tasted my daughter's meatball pho. My sister said her pho combo was really salty! She had to add 3 cups of water to dilute hers, but she tends to eat her food on the bland side. I just added one cup of water for my daughter and it was decent. I tried to stay on the safe side and ordered a shrimp fresh roll, so I was the only one who didn't complain since we fresh rolls were fresh and bland. Hahaha Service was prompt! Would we come back? Most likely not...but at least we can say that we gave it a try! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my siblings's orders, since their rice plates were actually nicely presented, in the midst of all the commotion. read more

Wanted to grab some pho on the way up to Napa and discovered this place. Ordered the steak pho & spring rolls with shrimp as an appetizer. The steak pho exceeded my expectations. I've had plenty of great pho in South Bay/San Jose and I thought the broth was really good and comparable. The spring rolls though were alright. I think the sauce was too thick and tasted too much of peanut butter rather than a balance of soy sauce, or hoisin sauce but that could also be my own preference. I wanted to try something new and was one lucky cat to come across this place....get it?!?! Lucky cat?!...Anyhow, the service was excellent, the steak pho was so tasty, I forgot to take a picture!! The iced Matcha Latte was delicious! The spring rolls were ok...the almond butter hoisin was a little thick..and I missed the peanut tang tbh. But, the chicken wings were recommended and they did not disappoint! My kids ate every bite off the bone!! I'll definitely be back and glad to have this restaurant in Novato! read more

This a relatively new place. It's been here for about 4 months. I read someone else's review about the lack of ambiance, but I must disagree. This is a certain charm to the space. Look at the walls. I especially like that the tables aren't right next to each other. We ordered the meat gyoza dumpling that came with a soy dipping sauce. I liked that the wrapper was thin - not like some of the thick wrappers on Chinese pot stickers. I'd rather enjoy what's inside the wrapper. We also ordered the BBQ Lemongrass Pork with Kimchi. This dish is a bit spicy and very flavorful. I would order this again. We also ordered the chicken stir fry with vegetables. It was good but I probably wouldn't get it again. Each entree comes with either rice or (rice?) noodles. This place has Vietnamese dishes such as pho, but they also have Korean dishes such as bulgogi and dishes with kimchi. I moved out here from San Jose worried that there wouldn't be good Vietnamese food. To my surprise, I came across this place after gyming a few stores down. Their bun bo hue was really good. Service was also very great. I also really liked that the restaurant was clean and food came out fast. I would definitely recommend this place if you are craving Vietnamese food. read more

What a great start for a new restaurant here in Novato! We've been awaiting the opening of Lucky Cat Bistro and were fortunate enough to eat there today. This is the space formerly occupied by the Green Bamboo on Entrada. The menu is smaller than most Vietnamese places we have been to in the Bay area, but the offerings were just fantastic. We started with the fried meat gyoza. They were deep-fried and served with a spicy aioli that was very tasty! My dad had the bulgogi and loved the meat and the kimchi. My wife had the combo Pho and wolfed it down as well. I had the shrimp, pork, and eggroll combo over vermicelli. The shrimp was PERFECTLY cooked, incredibly tender and tasty. The pork was yummy if a bit salty, and the eggroll paired nicely with the fish sauce vinaigrette. And the vermicelli? Silky, delicious, amazing. The space is fairly spartan compared with the lush decor of its predecessor, but don't let that fool you. So far, I can say that what comes out of the kitchen is pure gold. We really look forward to trying some other dishes the next time. C'mon down and try it out! read more

I hardly, rarely ever, barely write reviews but this place is worth it! I ended up here 3 times in one week. I came here with my supervisor, then i brought my team, (i commute to work 45-50 minutes) and i eventually drove my entire family so they can experience and taste how good the food is since i kept raving about it lol but the first time, i got the bbq pork, eggroll shrimp plate and wow.. the eggroll was so good i had to break it up and share it with everyone so they could taste it the bbq pork.. so flavorful. The salad was amazing! How could a salad taste that good??? But it sold me! I was coming back. 2nd visit, The bun bo hue is one of the best I've had. I'm really a foodie... so for me to say this and take time write is.. 1/1000. I did have to ask for some extra shrimp paste because i like some extra stinky salty stuff if you understand . It hit soooo good. The broth was on point. It was spicy but i did also ask for some garlic chili oil too ;) The bugolgi beef rice plate, 3rd visit, I'd probably pass only because it was too saucy but then again i shouldn't have ordered a Korean dish if i was going to a Vietnamese restaurant, but my 7 year old niece loved it! It was good, but it wasn't for me. It's not in the picture. We also ordered the combo pho! It came with A LOT of meat! I love meat balls and it came with plenty so thank you lucky cat bistro ;) my kids normally eat rice but they actually ALL wanted noodle soup! They basically drank all the broth with the spoon lol of course, when they were done, i was able to dress it with all the hot sauce, hoisin and everything else! And it was delicious. I would say, it was a little on the salty side. But... it's okay. Service wise... EVERY SINGLE TIME! They were so kind and patient. The last time i was there with my 3 kids and niece.. the only thing she asked of me was, do you need a high chair? How many extra plates and bowls do you need? I have dined at Lucky Cat twice and have enjoyed both meals. The vegetarian pho was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my noodle dish on my second visit. We are soooo happy to have this place here in Novato! It was a damp and chilly Wednesday, so we were craving some soup when I remembered that this place had just opened. The interior is fresh & clean- modern with some Vietnamese decor. Not many tables, but luckily there was a table available for us. (It was quite busy for a Wednesday). Service was great, food came out quickly, and the pho definitely hit the spot!! I appreciate that they gave a good amount of meat- perfect ratio of meat, noodles & broth. After living in Novato for over a year, I've found it surprisingly hard to come across spots that are both consistently good and actually full of flavor. When I heard about a new pho place opening, I was a little skeptical--but Lucky Cat Bistro genuinely impressed me. I've been twice now, and both visits delivered. The flavors are consistent, fresh, and really well balanced--something that's not always easy to find. (Spring roll & Steamed Potstickers pics are missing a piece... clearly someone couldn't wait ) BBQ Spring Rolls - Served as 2 rolls cut in half (4 pieces). Super fresh lettuce and carrots, and the BBQ had a really nice, slightly sweet, smoky flavor. Simple, but done really well. Steamed meat gyoza dumplings - These were a standout. Soft, flavorful, and practically melted in my mouth. The dipping sauce tied everything together perfectly. Steak & Brisket Pho - The broth had great depth without being too heavy, and the portions were generous. The meat was tender and well-prepared--definitely comforting and satisfying. Vermicelli Combo - Everything on the plate had its own distinct flavor, which I appreciated. My only small note is I wish there were a bit more noodles, but the fresh veggies and proteins balanced it out nicely. Overall, this spot exceeded my expectations. We love this place. It's a step up from our usual Vietnamese spot, which makes it more likely we will bring friends and family here. The waitress was helpful and checked in regularly. The food was outstanding, especially the fresh spring rolls and the combination that included a fried imperial roll, 3 huge shrimp, and lots of perfectly marinated barbecued pork. It comes on rice or vermicelli. The other pork dish with lemon grass was also good, but not quite as generous of a portion. We've ordered from this new restaurant twice now and were so pleased with our meals! There is a lack of decent Asian food in Marin, especially in South Novato, and this is a great addition. We have loved the gyoza, chicken noodles, shrimp rice bowl, and pho. It was all very flavorful and fresh, even as takeout. The service was very fast and the prices are reasonable. I just went today and had the beef and brisket pho, very good! Broth is very flavorful, just a tad salty but very good. The service was very good and prices reasonable. The size of the pho was a little small as compared to what I usually get in most places but I don't usually finish the entire bowl in anyways. My wife and I checked out this new spot in an old mall last night. The interior is simple and clean (I prefer simple myself as it is easy to maintain and keep clean). Recommended by the staff at the time, my wife's bbq pork rice dish was absolutely "melted in the mouth" amazing. I ordered the Combination Pho, the beef broth is very clear and flavorful, the tendon is nice and soft. Service was excellent. This is definitely a great new restaurant addition to Novato. read more

However, restaurant Is very busy on a Saturday night and customers ordering "ToGo" seem to take priority over those eating in. This seems backwards, and detracts from the experience of being in the restaurant. Please hire more help or you will lose customers!
