I've been to this restaurant twice and tried their pad thai & po tak soup which is essentially a tom yum soup with mixed seafood. I thought their pad thai was really flavorful & saucy which I liked, but the po tak soup was a bit lacking in the essential sour tom yum flavor. It was quite bland for a hot & sour soup; it wasn't spicy and wasn't sour at all. Overall the restaurant is pretty clean and service is good. read more

Well...order a curry dish with chicken. Waiter ensured it was ONLY white meat. Not sure what kind of meat but it was so tough I almost cracked my teeth. So spit that out. Then noticed the veggies were just not very firm. Really mushy. I honestly don't know what's going on there? I've had decent meals at there other locations. But frankly, this was awful. And at $20 for lunch, just not worth it! I still tip 20% because I worked in restaurants and just can't help it. I don't like to punish staff. I also find that language difficulties seem to play to the business advantage. Which is unfortunate. I am very kind. The worst part of this experience is that I woke up at 5am with food poisoning. This is Thai restaurant located at Novato. Small place, looks old, they serve various authentic Thai dishes and in my opinion they have plenty of healthy dishes here. We ordered Tom Yum soup $16 and Basil fried rice with seafood. Those two costs around $40+. The basil fried rice has an additional $5 to add seafood, not a huge portion for the price, but it tastes good and fresh. Good customer service, dim lights inside but tend to get noisy as other customers were chatting even few tables away from us. This is an unexpected visit, we were supposed to be going to the other place but accidentally went inside and seated and by the time we saw the menu we realized oops this is not it but we still ordered and tried Thai food. read more

I love their Drunken Noodles, so I ordered it again. The prawns were absolutely perfect! My companion got the Pineapple Fried Rice with Pork. The staff is always so pleasant! First time here and it was a good experience. We shared fish in mango sauce , Nam Tok pork, and pineapple fried rice. Fish dish was big and it was very yummy! Nam Tok is very close to traditional nam tok (we did ask for it that way too). Pineapple fried rice was ok. It could use a bit more flavor. Service was really lovely and I love the interior decoration. One thing i didn't like was there was no AC at all (or did not turn it on) and it was a very hot day! It was my third time here & I can't believe I haven't reviewed it on Yelp. My boyfriend & I came here for a nice Sunday lunch. I've been craving Pad Thai the past week so what better place than to come here! My boyfriend ordered the Drunken Noodles with chicken (his go-to order) while I ordered Pad Thai with chicken. I forgot how huge the portion sizes were. We both really enjoyed our dishes. The service was great, per usual. We were seated pretty quick right as we walked in & given menus and water. To end our delicious lunch, we ordered Mango Sticky Rice. The mango slices were perfectly ripe but we had a slight issue with the rice. It felt as though it crossed the savory line. The crunch of the crispy rice (pinipig) on top added a nice textural difference. Overall, a great place to get Thai food in Novato! read more

Over the years, I have refrained from writing a review of My Thai II in Novato. I am writing this review today in hope that the owner & chef take it to heart and try to improve the quality. I ordered 4 dishes to pick up Sunday afternoon. The Green Curry was watery and while the flavor wasn't terrible, it had mushy prawns that had seen better days, and not much else except a few bamboo shoots. The chicken Pad Thai: the chicken was leathery and so dry you could not chew it. The house Fried Rice was bland, and even the white rice just wan't right. I have had mediocre meals here before but this time, it was so bad I felt I had to share my experience. read more

I'm glad they're here in downtown Novato. When you enter My Thai (II), you are warmly greeted at the door and you get a lot of nice touches of authentic Thai decor. It is tastefully appointed and a great place to meet friends, bring family or even date night. Their staff is friendly and service is surprisingly fast (more on this later). Their selections are very tasty. We ordered Yellow curry, BBQ duck (yum!) as well as Pad Thai which are a favorite of my kids. The food is DELICIOUS with authentic flavors. Note that it is not as spicy as "true" thai cuisine but then again this is Marin County where most have no idea of what true thai spice is all about. Also I have kids and there's no way that they could handle that. However I will go back on date night and explore that option. When we ordered our food came out really fast. The place has several tables and 2 front of the house staff. I'm sure it might be different is it was packed on a Friday/Saturday night but we lucked out that day. My family and I were so impressed with the experience we went for it and ordered 2 desserts. Fried Bananas and Mango sticky rice. Both were were AMAZING! I've eaten at this restaurant for a long time. My husband and I go there every week. We always order the same things. Tonight we decided to order through door dash. Not door dashes fault, but our order was not complete. I reached out to door dash and they were gracious enough to give us a slight refund. I called the restaurant and the lady on the phone chuckled at me. She was very unkind and unsupportive. As a long time customer I'm not looking for special treatment, but at least professional. My Thai Novato is quite adequate though hardly exemplary. But this is Novato. Not Bangkok. What do you expect? They have the requisite Singha beer but respecting location over my cuisine, I ordered Lagunitas IPA (bottle). We shared an appetizer (fish cakes, $13) and a lunch special (My Thai Spicy Noodles, $17) but ordered it mild. I know...who does that? My wife. She's a No-Spice Girl. We expected something like Pad Thai, a solid mass of noodles, but got a soup with 2 little shrimp and lots of little chicken bits and crunchy veggies. Not bad but not expected, either. I was chasing a fish cakes high after a magnificent fish cake experience at a downtown Oakland restaurant, a spread with many fish cakes with so many accompaniments. While the food here has always been tasty on our previous visits, the service has consistently fallen short. Today, however, was unacceptable. We walked in, weren't greeted, were just handed menus, and pointed to a table. After sitting there for what felt like an eternity (at least 20 minutes), the server waited on the table next to us twice and handled takeout, all without a single glance our way. After a 6 mile hike we were starving and craving some Thai food. Thankfully, Yelp to the rescue with finding a good place nearby. The ambience is beautiful and relaxing. The menu is huge which made it difficult to select just one dish. I ended up getting the cashew nut vegetable dish and was quite satiated. The portion was generous and the presentation lovely. The flavors were exquisite! My friends really enjoyed the dishes they ordered as well. Next time I'm in the area, I'll certainly stop by! I would have given 5 stars, except our server was quite cold. Only been once. Had drunken noodles and bbq chicken. Both were excellent. Drunken noodle fans typically fall into one of two categories. They like them dry wok'd with a dry spice mixture, or they like them moist. These kinda fell in the middle, and I got to say it really worked. I would absolutely order it again. The bbq chicken was well prepared. Tender and moist. The grilled veggies were a bit heavy on cabbage but otherwise tasty. The nam Jim sauce served with it was a little bland. I could have kicked it up by asking for the spice tray, but I just wanted to experience it as they served it. Next time I'm going to try the curries and pad Thai. Which let's be honest, those are the measure of a good Thai place. read more

No matter where we go, we love to try out thai places or should I say because of my picky little eater. Most of the time, he'll want white rice, sauce and curry. Oh well, Thai restaurant will satisfy he's cravings. We ordered Eggplant with Shrimp, fish cakes ( super delicious), broccoli with shrimp (kids loved it) , thai iced tea ( it was okay) , thai basil fried rice and white rice ( you have to pay extra for white rice). Overall the entrees were pretty small but enough for us. I liked their fish cake. Dishes came out pretty fast. I will write my review while considering what to rate them. My husband and I came to My Thai for lunch today at 2pm. They close at 3. The man who works there told us to pick a table, we did and he brought us menus. When he returned to take our order, I told him what I wanted and asked what the soup was called in Thai. I had forgotten. But, he told me not to try to use Thai. He was pissy about it. But, he moved on. He rubbed us wrong. And, it was a little uncomfortable after this. Our meal arrived pretty quick. And, I have to say the Holy Basil I ordered was the best, I have eaten since returning to the US from living in Thailand. It was sweet and salty. The sauce coated my tongue with an oyster sauce, fish sauce, basil treat. The ground chicken was bathed in this wonder sauce. I also had the 'hot and sour soup.' This is called Tom Yum. Which, wasn't too hard to tell me. Anyways, it too was delicious. I am thinking he had a bad day. He was the only person serving the few diners in the restaurant. I'll give him a chance. I went to the restaurant to order in person so I can be very clear about my dads allergy. I explicitly stated he is severely allergic to onions and garlic and that nothing on this order could include it. The hostess assured me the order was marked and he would check with the kitchen... clearly not. I got home (25 minutes away) and first box I open is full of onion. I called the restaurant immediately and spoke with the same man who took my order and he told me he would "call me back in a few minutes" to discuss. No call back. I call again and he immediately denies there wrong doing. I explained that we couldn't risk consuming any of this food for health and safety concerns but to him, this wasn't a serious concern. After politely asking for a refund or a credit (the order was already in the trash by this point) they offered to comp ONE dish of the 5. After explaining we essentially just paid top dollar for Thai food that would not be edible due to a error on their part and would appreciate a refund, I was SCREAMED AT by the man saying it is not possible. To circle back to my original comment, I have never been a yelp reviewer but this service and the way communication was handled after THEIR ERROR is unacceptable and should not be accepted, so I feel inclined to voice this for others to see. Due the pandemic, I've mostly been ordering out. I love finding a good place to pick up food I just can't reproduce in my own kitchen. This restaurant always offers great tasting food with a quick turnaround. I barely get my order in over the phone and I'm told to pick it up 10 minutes later. I love their yellow curry with chicken. They make it extra spicy when asked because I love my food to have heat. I also add some rice on the side. I usually get their spring rolls, too, as my appetizer. If I want to treat myself extra special, I get a Thai ice tea. If I want something else, I'll go for their Pad Thai. My husband is more adventurous. He's had most dishes and he fully swears they're all his favorites. I'll confess that I've ordered here more often than any place around based on the quality of their food. Great place for delicious Thai food. I love their Mango iced tea with bits of fresh cut up mango in the mini pitcher glass, fancy! My absolute favorite thing to eat here is the Roti with their yellow curry sauce. We also enjoyed the evening special of their meat dumplings (My Thai Wontons) along with seafood curry and crab pad Thai. The curry is still really good as leftovers for the next day. read more

My husband and I went back to MyThai 2 for the first time since the pandemic, as I haven't been able to eat out a lot. We came to relax after a stressful visit to my oncologist. We were appalled by the service we got from our server. I believe the other server said his name was David. We ordered 2 Chuchi salmons and one order rice. He came back with only one meal for the 2 of us. We sat there for a while waiting for the 2nd one as the first on grew cold. When my husband realized he wasn't coming back, he went to find him and very politely said we hadn't gotten our 2nd meal. He rudely and with no apologies argued that we only ordered 1, again my husband patiently said, no that was the rice. We ordered 2 salmons and 1 rice. David again said, no you didn't! Anyway, he got us a 2nd one finally. He angrily clapped the plate on the table. Don't understand why HE was upset, it was our dinner that was ruined. Then he never came back. Another waitress came with our check at the end. My favorite dish, the here, Chuchi salmon has shrunk significantly since the last time we ate here. What a shame. I loved the food here.
