Best pet boutique I probably have ever been to and I've been into them all, trust me. They have the brands I am used to seeing at higher end boutiques which was nice because I tend to stick to what I know is good quality. The store is full of everything you could possibly need for your fur baby. Clothes, harnesses, kitschy toys, leashes, treats, bowls, beds and more. We had a hard time deciding what to buy just because we weren't used to having endless options. We went in there looking for a sweater for our Morty because it's cold here in Dallas and Morty is an LA dog so he isn't used to the cold. Found the cutest and softest sweater for our baby boy! My Cavalier, Gertie, and I love Lucky Dog Barkery! It is by far my favorite dog store in Dallas. They have the absolute best quality products, customer service, and selection, plus they have a loyalty program! Firstly, they're the only store I've found that has a core value of providing the best food and products for our dogs. You won't find the junk that the big box stores sell, so you can be 100% confident you're buying the BEST products when you're at Lucky Dog. It's the only local store I've found that sells Answers!! Plus they also have Stella & Chewy's, Primal, and Farmina. I can also get all my dog's raw bones and treats.  Second, best customer service hands down! I went in yesterday and they helped me find Gertie a running hoodie. They seriously spent 20 minutes going through pros and cons and finding the right fit. I felt so bad taking their time but they wouldn't let me settle... honestly so great! Finally, they have everything in terms of themed toys, clothing, etc.  This is very specific... but I have a small pup, so I love that they sell different sizes bandanas that are slim cut so they look normal on her, versus only the standard size bandanas that are just huge (pictures included to show what I mean). I don't write reviews often. And I never thought I'd write one for a pet store-- but Lucky Dog Barkery is deserving of unlimited 5 star reviews! We rescued a young pup recently and I stumbled upon the Barkery and have loved it ever since. Some of the reasons I love it so much.... 1. They gave us the sweetest sample box for our new puppy and when I came back to buy a treat that they no longer carried they gave me extra samples and gave me a great alternative! 2. One of the wonderful employees recommended a puzzle toy that has changed kennel time for our pup Doug! So grateful for his recommendation (West Paw Tizzi) 3. Dougie just got neutered and I had gotten a soft cone before the procedure but we realized that our flexible boy was able to reach the incision in the cone! We stopped in here to pick up supplies for a new puppy. Even with the COVID closures, the Lucky Dog Barkery is open to serve the pets and pet owners in the Park Cities. They have a great selection of fresh and dry foods and high quality supplies, including locally made toys, sustainable treats, and natural health care products. The staff person who helped us gave us his complete attention and answered all of our questions (while staying 6 feet away from us). He was knowledgable about the products and the supplies we would need to bring our new puppy home. I'm sure we could find less expensive toys and gadgets online, but I doubt the quality would be the same and you would miss the great local service they provide. read more

We were led here by a competitor, when asking around for a Cowboys jersey for our mini goldendoodle, Bailey. Luckily, Lucky Dog Barkery came in for the win! Walking into the store, I have to say I was a tad overwhelmed. There are dog toys galore and everything you could ever want for your furry friend. We found the Cowboys jersey and it was perfect and not too badly priced [$24]. I asked the store clerk if they had any mind game toys for dogs and she pulled out two different games to show us. Lucky Dog Barkery SOUNDS like a good name and concept, but that's all they have going for them... A good name and concept. I decided to give it a try despite never seeing too much human trafficking. My partner and I have paid two visits here together. The first was to collect and purchase dog treats for our three wonderful dogs. There is plenty to choose from, but I buy the EXACT same stuff at a pet store off of Oaklawn near Cedar Springs for much less. Example 1: Orijen Dog Food is right at $68 for a 28.6 lb bag at the Shop on Oaklawn. Lucky Dog Barkery sold it to me for over $90. Example 2: A particular beef chew measuring in at about 3.5 inches long is $7.99 at the Shop on Oaklawn. Lucky Dog Barkery sold it to me for $24.99. Wow! I don't mind forking over extra money, but I would have preferred to have been greeted, asked if I needed help. And I most certainly did not want to receive an aggressive lecture from the male staff worker about certain treats I asked about. As a paying customer and human-being with feeling and emotions, I don't want an 18 year old belittling and scolding me about rawhides, unless he is an 18 year old Vet. He should have just continued to be quiet. As a business manager myself, I completely understand pricing certain items higher based on location, level of customer service and image. But the tasteless level of customer service of the employees lowers the level of credibility I give this place. As we walked backed to our car with our overpriced items, my partner looks at me and says "i hate to say this, but this is the last time we will come here." Agreed. read more

Saturday was my child, er, dog's 2nd birthday and I wanted to celebrate with a doggie birthday cake just for her. I was a bit concerned though because Dolly does not have a sweet tooth. She hates Milk Bones so much that she spits them out (which can be very embarrassing in public when eager-beaver cashiers at various establishments try and feed them to her) and I have tried several varieties of baked cookie treats from all kinds of dog bakeries and she flat won't eat them. Lucky Dog makes their own baked goodies for dogs too including mini birthday cakes. The cake is made with peanut butter and the frosting is made to look like vanilla or chocolate but is really yogurt. They bake them, draw a bone or Happy Birthday using the 'frosting' and then put them in the freezer. Just thaw the cake for an hour and feed to your furry animal. To my total delight Dolly LOVED her doggie birthday cake! In fact, she loved it so much that she stole my own Sprinkles cupcake when I wasn't looking. If you bring your fuzzy child into the store they will give them a piece of meat jerky that I'm sure your baby will love like mine did. Thank you Lucky Dog for having such great stuff for animals! This place has tons of dog stuff!! I went to check it out one time after a visit to Sprinkles, and I can't wait to come back with Murphy, my pup. They had a ton of doggie halloween costumes last month, and just about every size, shape, and material of dog toy you can think of. The place is very boutique-y (read: expensive) so I'm not sure how much I would buy, but it does seem like a neat place to browse with your pooch. They've also got tons of leashes, collars, and full body harnesses (even leather ones with cool designs on them, which is probably good for Murphy, since he chewed through the two I bought him from Petsmart). They also sell lots and lots of dog food and treats, many of which are organic/healthy in delicious sounding flavors. And, if you're looking, they have plenty of dog clothes, beds, art, stationary, and other dog-related things that hoomins like. The lady who owned the place (Marcia I guess, from Anne's review) was VERY nice and helpful and would have been willing to show me every single item in the store if I had asked. Lucky Dog Barkery is, by far, the best place to get all things DOG. It's huge. They have an insane selection of toys, leashes and collars, food, etc. for your dog. It's hard not to leave with something. Things I've purchased- Charming Pet balloon dog toy (because it's easy for my small dogs to make squeak), Susan Lanci collar (because it has a cute bone charm attached), Squishy pet bowl (because it's easy to travel with), Stella & Chewy's freeze-dried food, and other dog treats and grooming products. I have been happy with everything I've purchased. The service is top-notch, too. They will answer all questions, make suggestions, give samples (if you ask), and play with your dogs. They lose a star because of their prices (and they could stock more grooming products like nail clippers or brushes). The prices are considerably marked up compared to other stores. I bought Dogswell chicken strip treats for $8.99 and saw the same bag at Target for $5.99. Their price was 1.5x more. I understand that prices will be more but that's a lot. I'll continue to shop there to support small businesses and if you fan them on Facebook, you'll get notices of current specials. I recommend this store to all dog lovers. read more

This place is just too adorable! I went in specifically looking for the Poochie Bells to hang on my back door... but I had my hands full of toys, treats, and other goodies before I even found the damn bells. They have some of the cutest toys I've ever seen - and a HUGE variety, too! I have a very destructive beagle... Even those "indestructable" toys she tears through in a matter of minutes. I asked one of the girls working in the shop which toys she thought might be a bit stronger than the rest. She pointed me to this Kong rope tug thingy which she said she's gotten great feedback about. It's survived it's first few hours in this house! So far, so good! I got a couple new treats that my dogs loved... of course. Not that they'd ever complain! All natural, too! I love that! They have a really great selection of all kinds of treats and chewing bones, etc. Picked up some new shampoo for my extra-itchy guy... My pug has serious allergy problems. Before resorting to a lifetime of allergy shots, my vet and I decided to take a more holistic approach and try to heal him from the inside out--starting with his food. She referred me to Marcia who owns the Barkery. Marcia was extremely helpful and sent me home with some food and treats for Bucko to try. She said that if he didn't like it, I could bring it back. Lucky Dog Barkery is a novelty pet shop that carries an abundance of choice: food (raw and kibble), toys, treats, bedding and leashes. My Overall Rating - 2.5 out of 5 Stars. Atmosphere - Well laid out floor plan. Upscale feel. Service - Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. Choices - Exceptional. Prices - Buyer beware. Quite a few items have no price labels. This is accompanied by a significant premium over the prices charged at other upscale establishments. Primal Raw Food 6# bag can run upwards of $70 depending on the protein you choose. Elsewhere the same exact item is offered under $40. Dry Kibble Dog Food carries a roughly 125% premium over that of other places in high rent locations. So, the cost does not seem to be solely a means to offset the higher lease cost of an upscale centre. I am okay with paying a premium for exclusive and one of a kind items. However, if the item is stocked at multiple competing shops, I would rather pay the same exact price. Will I return? - Surprisingly, yes. But I will do so only for items that are not carried elsewhere. read more

I have a wonderful but hyper active dog and when it comes to toys the selection at Petsmart or Petco doesn't cut it. He has destroyed everything there. Luckily, I came across the Lucky Dog Barkery (on my way to Torchy's) and was thrilled with their selection of toys but even more so with the service and time that was put into helping choose the right toys for my special pooch. I was asked specific questions about what kind of dog I have and how he chews on things - nobody has ever asked me that at a big box store when I'm begging for recommendations. In addition to the stellar selection of toys, there are tons of healthy, local treats as well as top notch dog food brands. The woman that helped me (quite possibly the owner?) talked to me about my dogs diet and even sent me home with some samples of what she feeds her dogs. And if that wasn't enough (!) there are plenty adorable, sleek and trendy leashes and collars to pick out for your four legged friend.
