First of all, people on here tend to base their reviews on assumptions that the stores work with devastating puppy mills. Making those accusations without facts & bashing the business on it, only make those people look as bad & irrational as those ACTUALLY working mills.. Yeah. So my review is based on my actual experiences going in and physically working with Petland staff. And every time I visit Petland, I have an awesome experience. Eric and Dominique have made sure of that. Before I had my puppy, no matter how busy - staff was always ensuring that I was well taken care of. They were more than okay with letting me play with all the puppies I was possibly interested in until I found the right one. More than one staff member proved that they all hold a plethora of knowledge on the breeds AND where their stores even acquire the puppies from. After I got my puppy (not from Petland), Eric did a great job showing me around the store offering tools and toys I'd need for him! I ended up getting a crate starter pack. He gave me his full attention & helped me every step of the way. Very big on product knowledge too. Later, I needed a soft carrier for air travel & not only was Dominique helpful on the phone, but without even seeing me first, she knew I was the one she had spoken with & what I was looking for! She was considerate of the price range I was looking for and had me in and out so easy. Definitely a plus for Petland having her on their management staff. The animals are innocent and despite what they typically charge, Petland is doing their job in finding them all their forever homes. I'd say, if you need any kind of products or equipment for your best friend, this really is a great place to take advantage of that. read more

After my recent visit to Pet land I had to let everyone know. Why is this outdated model of a business still around? Do you see other pet places selling dogs? Many other pet puppy places conduct adoptions. No one knows the personality of a dog (just like a person). Why not adopt an adorable adult dog that you can know how it behaves and whether it is right for you household. I found my visit to this location making me think about ethical behavior associated with animals in our world. Please consider adoption. Went to look at two different puppies to adopt. The first dog had horrible kennel cough, was wheezing, hacking and choking. I let the person at the store know about it and she said it probably just had a cold, took it back from me and put it back with 4 other puppies. I asked what the process was for situations like this, in the event that I left with a puppy and it became ill. The girl didn't say a word she just looked at me and walked away. It was super strange but I thought maybe she didn't hear me. I walked back to the front to ask if I could see another puppy. She didn't say a word, again, but brought the other dog. The next dog they gave had feces all over its bottom and smelled like dead animals but nonetheless- I was trying to clean him and was interested in leaving with a pup. I played with him for a while and was trying to find her to ask for the price but waited about 40 minutes and she was pacing around the store and seemed very stressed or overstimulated so I waited until she got closer. I asked the price and was told it was $5500. I said that it seemed kind of high BECAUSE IT IS and asked what came with it. She said that they are the #1 pet land in the country and if I didn't get the dog someone else would because they never have dogs for more than a couple of weeks. I ignored the poor customer service and passive aggressive comments and behavior because again she seemed stressed and panicked with another person also playing with a puppy. After another associate told me I could place the pet on hold while I considered, I asked the person I was originally working with to place the pet on hold and was told it's 30 minutes. I wasn't sure if I needed to give her my info or what next steps were so I was standing near the front waiting for her to give direction and she asked why I was just standing there... I said I didn't need anything and would go home to consider, thanked her for her time- again, zero response and she just stared at me. I left because I just had a terrible experience and wasn't sure I wanted to my money to go toward a company that clearly doesn't care about their animals or their customers. I called today to ask more questions about the pet since my questions were disregarded yesterday and spoke to Teagan who said he had no information, pricing and couldn't give any info that I didn't get yesterday because he was "off site in a call center". When visiting yesterday, I remember seeing people sitting in the back and realized he actually is not off site or in a call center- but is visibly sitting in the back of the store next to the training area. Teagan told me that the price of the pets are starting at $1300 and the extra (required) add ons- like unlimited nail trimming and a bag of food, make the price increase to $5500. Teagan continued to repeat that he can't give me any more information and I would have to come into a store. I asked if there was someone else I could speak to for my few questions, and he asked why I wanted to speak to anyone else. I reiterated again that I wanted to ask some questions before driving an hour for questions that could be answered over a call. He put me on hold then again refused to allow me to speak to anyone and again told me to come down to the store. Then he offered to "transfer me to speak to someone in financial services to see if I can even afford the dog." If I couldn't afford the dog, I wouldn't be inquiring again today and wanting to ask more questions... The customer service is horrendous. The staff is not knowledgeable. They are inattentive and seem completely bothered by customers asking very basic questions about the pets they are selling. I can only image how they treat the pets if they are this combative, aggressive and disrespectful to customers. The whole process seems extremely scammy and bizarre and I am genuinely concernedwith the health and safety of the pets after what I witnessed yesterday with an ill pet being placed back into a cage with others while another was covered in feces. I purchased Marley in Feb 2021. The staff was professional and knowledgeable. The only issue was the pricing. They are extremely expensive. I priced breeders in the area and they were half the cost I paid, but none of them had any Yorkie's available. My husband and daughter ventured into Petland on the way to dinner, saw a puppy there & fell in love with a Cavachon there. Sent me pics, I was very hesitant. (Have a dog, wasn't quite ready for another yet!) Well, I went to look the next day & of course fell in love w/our Daisy! Here's the Bad news: We bought a sick, 3 month old puppy. On the ride home, she had bad diarrhea, threw up, and was so upset. Next day we took her to our vet (we live out of town) and he said she had an upper respiratory infection. He also said her immune system was not well (the diarrhea) and all the amoxicillin doses they gave her over the last 2+ months most likely worsened her condition. He read all the shots she had received on the list they gave us, and he said she had so many so young! :-( I would have given this PUPPY MILL a 1 star, but we are grateful to have our sweet pup, at least. It took weeks to get her healthier!! Lots of chicken broth, an immune booster, & TLC. Took her to vet to rule out Parvo, intestinal worms, bacterial infection, etc. My husband sent vet bills to get reimbursed from this PUPPY MILL, Petland, and was only reimbursed $45!! These people need to be shut down!! They are selling expensive, sick puppies that are medically mistreated!! I'm informing any animal rights organizations in Dallas, the BBB, etc! If you want a healthy puppy, research quality breeders with verifiable reviews! I couldn't contact the "breeder from Ohio". No phone #. She was my absolute baby for the last two years and it was a long road with her having a parasite when I first got her, teeth issues with having teeth polled, and now two years later my dog is died due to seizures which they think it was caused by brain tumor which she was born with, which the store definitely knew. If I could give ZERO stars I would. When you walk in the store the puppies are pretty packed in together and made me sad. I wish I would of done my research about this place before purchasing or dog. Petland company has so many lawsuits against them and use puppy mills to get their dogs. They tell you they get their dogs from breeders but when I tried to research the breeder afterwards, I found NOTHING. My husband and I ended up falling in love with a golden retriever there. He looked very sad and they said he had been there the longest. When we asked why he was so calm, Brianna the sales person said "oh he's just chill." In reality they KNOWINGLY sold us a sick puppy. Not even three days after, we took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Parvo. The vet told us that he probably had Parvo for awhile but didn't show symptoms until we got him. Not even a week later, our puppy, Boomer died. We were so heart broken. Sadly I found out that so many other families have experienced this after buying from Petland. I bought my little dog here, it was a emotional purchase so when the manager told me that I could take the dog home with no money down and no interest fee for 1 year, free dog for life, if something happened to the dog I get another dog for free also free puppy training. But what she didn't tell me is that I had to keep buying all the good and dog stuff there and take her to the vet 3 days after purchasing the dog. So all the FREE stuff came with provisions. (I didn't know all this until later) The manager came back and said they can only do 6 months interest free not a year. I was ok with the terms and bought the dog. Well it's not interest free she lied, you get charged interest but if you pay for the dog in the 6 moth time frame they pay the interest back to you. I think this is fraudulent and misrepresentation of services on all counts. Yes, the truth is in the contract but when your thinking about it they are telling you lies. The dog also had health problems but since I didn't adhere to taking her to the very by 3 days nothing is covered and now I'm left with a huge vet bill. My suggestion is do not buy a dog from PetLand they lie and misrepresented their terms verbally. The dog was sick and I'm out of pocket for that as well. read more

I wish we read these reviews prior to purchasing a pup. We purchased a beautiful Cavalier that was 11 weeks old. We were told she was healthy and recently had a check up done. After the hefty price tag of $7000.00 and selecting everything that comes with the purchase, we got home and we decided to introduce our new pup to our 2 year old pom. We did not sense anything strange, yes the pup was lethargic, but we thought she's a puppy and perhaps that's normal. We let the dogs play for a while before getting them ready for bed. We made our recommended follow up appointment the very next day at Pet Vet who told us the dog had Kennel cough. They prescribed some antibiotics and told us to keep her away from other dogs as it was contagious... Guess what? Too late! The second day everything seemed normal. We kept the dogs isolated and took them out for play time, again normal. On the third day I woke up and checked on the dogs and I found our new pup laying breathless, motionless with dark brown vomit around her little head. It was the worst image ever. It has been 48 hours and I still see everything so vividly. We are waiting for the necropsy results, which take a week from Pet Vet which works with this terrible pet store. Things get worse our dog has been vomiting several times per day for 48 hours and now has diarrhea. We fear he has caught something from the new pup. He was perfectly healthy prior to the new puppy coming home. Up to date on all vaccinations, everything! We took him to the an animal hospital the same day we found our dead puppy because it started that same day. We are now spending even more money for emergency visits to the animal hospital. So for your sake stay away from this place. The manager was nice when the purchase was made of course, but when I called him to tell him about our situation he made it seem as if we harmed the puppy. My boyfriend and I were looking for a new puppy for months and have continuously visited this Petland location. We spent a lot of time looking at shelters and other locations, but this one is the best. For anyone who has looked (or is looking) for a new companion, you already know how difficult it is to find a friend who is less than a year old at a shelter. My boyfriend and I jumped back and forth between here, the ASPCA, and Saturdays at different PetSmarts. I love how the animals are so people-friendly here. This Petland is geared toward puppies, but there's tons of rabbits, hamsters/gerbils, ferrets, and birds. I've even seen exotic parrots come and go. The best part? You can play with all of them. It's a huge hands-on experience to come to this location. There's even cubbies made for you to play with puppies! On top of the fun environment, each of the employees love their jobs! I've been here (dare I say) 50ish times over the span of a few months, and I always see the employees picking up the animals with care. They're constantly feeding the animals and giving them plenty of rest time to compliment the amount of time that they are handled. Even when customers don't find the right companion, they're eager to pick up the little critter and give it a little head rub and a kiss on the cheek. I feel the need to defend Petland from all the negative reviews because my boyfriend and I purchased our puppy from here a few months ago and had the best experience. We weren't rushed into anything, and by the time we decided on our puppy, that was probably our 30th visit to the store. If anything, the employees encourage you to play with any puppy that you may consider, think about it carefully overnight, and come back another day in the near future for it. When my boyfriend and I were on the fence about a puppy we played with, we were encouraged to schedule an appointment for a few days later. If you purchase on that appointment day, the price of the puppy is $100 off. If the company was looking to just profit, they would've rushed us a long time ago and not mentioned a discount. The puppy that my boyfriend and I got was on sale. I definitely don't see a flaw our pup (now that we've had it for several months), aside from him being super spoiled from us. The puppies can only be up to a certain age before they need to be sent to a different location (some are sent to Frisco). Paperwork is always important, so I wanted to emphasize a few things that were given to us concerning our puppy. We were given full information on him, including chip info and shot records. We also received a paper that had his full birthday, the name of the breeder, and the exact location that he was born and the date (with picture) that he was brought to Petland. I definitely felt that the employees were very transparent with us here. We were helped by Matthew, who is fantastic. He even got his own puppy from Petland! Went in today just to see... had my god son and wanted to pet and play with a puppy. We had a schnauzer come into the booth... adorable but when I asked the price... 6,600.00 - yes, that is what the sales man quoted. Obviously stated there can be a payment plan lol. There were 2-3 in a cage and mixed the breeds up. Another schnauzer was in a cage with 2 puppies from another breed and the other dogs kept dominating the schnauzer. Well I waited a year to post my review on purchasing a kitten at Petland Dallas.... he is a Maine Coon/Persian mix, and he has been wonderful from the day we brought him home. He is docile, yet playful. The staff told me this kitten did not meow or make noise, and they were correct, he's virtually silent. There were so many negative reviews, that I wanted to give him a year to make sure he was healthy, and he is and has always been healthy. From the day I brought him home he was friendly with my other 2 cats and my golden retriever. He is my favorite cat out of my 3. I know they probably don't get there kittens from a reputable breeder, but if you make an impulse buy, and want to give a kitten a home, they all deserve one regardless of where they came from.... my kitten has an excellent personality and disposition! read more

I I looked online and saw that there was a puppy that I wanted. I called to see if it was available and how much it was they said it was available and for $1400. I went in to meet the puppy and again asked how much he was and they said $1400. I called again the next day before I went in to go pick up the dog to ask how much the puppy was and they said $1400. I went in to go pick up the dog all happy and ready to go and had prepped the house for a new puppy and they told me he cost $3800. Even if they had a miscommunication on their side, the fact they they even think charging double for a puppy's normal price is ok means that this is not a company do any business with. read more

My uncle and aunt called to get a Pomeranian and they refused to give us a price, would tell us how much we get for a veterans discount but refused to get any info on the puppy as well. I am so upset! I purchased a VERY EXPENSIVE fawn male French bulldog (16 weeks old) on 7/30 for my daughter's sweet 16 gift! We are so They sold us a sick puppy!! Upon taking our dog to the stores contracted vet the very next day, 7/31, less than 24 hours from purchase, we found out he has bronchitis and pneumonia!!! My daughter is heartbroken. We live over an hour away from the vet and the store, and both my husband and I work more than full time! When buying a puppy for thousands of dollars, you expect to receive a pup on top not health! My option to return within 48 hours for only 1/2 my money is INSANE!! The other option to exchange for another dog is also insane, another sick puppy!?! I don't even want to bring this sweet animal back to the store where he was sick for weeks! We called the store and asked for the owner to call us, but have not received any contact from the owner! How unprofessional and deceitful in business practice. While treatments are covered for 14 days, what happens after that? This was a huge investment to make my daughters birthday special, it's turned into a nightmare! Be careful when buying your let here ! I bought a puppy last November. When I got the puppy home I noticed a cough and didn't think much of it. The cough was pretty bad at night so i called and set up an Appt to have thier doctor take a look. I also noticed that they had 3 pages of medication they were feeding the puppy over the last month. The doctor was pretty upset about all the medication and took a few x rays to find out what was going on. The doctor came back that the dog had Pneumonia and was in bad shape. I had to leave the puppy at the vets for a week and after the week they told me I could pick the dog up. They said all was fine and the dog wasn't really that bad off. The next two months I didn't get much sleep because of the coughing in the middle of the night. I did take the puppy to my vets and showed him all that was going on. He was outraged on what he saw. He said he was amazed the dog was alive with all of the medication the puppy ingested and he is still worried about the long term effects the dog might have. The good news is the cough is gone and I get to sleep nights now. I tried to contact Dominique regarding all if the issues and never could get a call back. I love my puppy and i'm glad I got her out of there before they killed her. I was never able to register her and I really don't care... Please don't buy a dog from Petland... I went into this Petland to inquire about their puppies. I asked for information about their breeders. I was given nothing other than "they're USDA certified" so I did some investigating myself. This is what I found and this is why I will not give any business to Petland, nor encourage others to do so. Fact: Petland Highland Park buys from puppy mills. Specifically from the worst puppy mills in Missouri. Please google who the Petland breeders are and read the MANY citations they have received from the USDA. Petland acquires puppies from: 1) Hunte: Cited for Small Cages and Underage Puppies This store received shipments from a massive Missouri puppy broker, The Hunte Corporation, in 2009. Hunte is a middleman animal dealer which the USDA has cited for keeping dozens of animals in too-small cages, repeatedly transporting underage puppies, and other violations. The Hunte Corporation sells about 80,000 puppies a year from hundreds of different kennels and puppy mills. 2) Mid-America: Cited for Small Cages and Incorrect Medications This store also received shipments from Mid-America Pet Broker, LLC in 2009. Mid- America is a middleman animal dealer in Missouri which the USDA has cited for buying from individuals without verifying whether they were licensed, expired and incorrect medications at the facility, too-small cages, and other violations. 3) Brenda Arnett: Cited for Inadequate Weather Protection Also in 2009, this store received shipments from Brenda Arnett (Edwards, Missouri). In her most recent (2008) inspection reports she was found having 6 puppies with no identification, open buckets of trash and feces adjacent to the outdoor kennels, outdoor kennels with inadequate weather protection, and one outdoor kennel where five dogs had only a single plastic barrel to share as shelter from the elements. 4) Out-of-State Sellers with Animal Welfare Act Violations This store received shipments directly from Missouri out-of-state sellers in 2009, some of whom have been cited for Animal Welfare Act violations. Made an appointment to see a certain puppy, the day of the appointment we got a reminder to come see the dog and not to forget. Upon arrival they had a standing around. We told them again what dog we were here for and they said oh well sorry it went to a home last night. ***INFECTED PUPPIES*** I bought my cockapoo 4 months ago. She came home with me and had diarrhea from the get go. As a first time dog owner and reading copious amounts of articles on puppies, diarrhea is semi normal in an 8 week old puppy. I take my dog to their "PetVet" in Farmers Branch and provide a fecal sample for it to be tested. They did not test the fecal sample and said "it's probably because she's drinking a lot of water" . My ASS. I take my dog back to the "PetVet" for her last vaccines and they finally test her fecal sample and found Giardiasis. Their explanation is "it's this time of year and it's so normal blah blah". They provide me with medication for 7 days and she is in GREAT condition, better than I've ever seen my dog. Last week I take my dog to a socialization class that PETLAND provides in the store and they bring in a puppy from the back (or should I say puppy mill). 3 days after that class, my puppy is back to feeling lethargic and has diarrhea. All pet owners from our class have had the exact same issues with our pets. From worms to parasites, they've had it all. This place needs to be condemned. It's run by a bunch of wankers who only care about money and not the livelihood of an animal. It's disgusting and I'm taking this up the chain for this place to get shut down. read more
