    Mochi nut donut
    Brian H.

I have seen the light, and it is deep-fried. Nestled in Burien's downtown, this unassuming donut sanctuary has been serving up sugary enlightenment for over two decades. The counter guy--friendly and efficient, like he's got a sixth sense for sugar-deprived souls--hands over a box that should probably come with a warning label. It took me 3 years to match schedules but I finally got in! First up: a mochi nut donut, so chewy and perfect it makes me question every basic cake donut I've ever tolerated. Then, a bear claw the size of a toddler's face, its buttery layers whispering sweet nothings to my arteries. Finally, an absurdly flaky, cinnamon-covered creation that crumbled like my willpower. The coffee? Hot. The vibes? Chill. The regret? Nonexistent.

I wanted a cronut and apparently they only have those certain days. Regardless, they had a good selection of everything else that morn. We grabbed a variety of cake and raised. Both types were soft and fresh. The consistency of the icing was a bit different on the cakes, but the taste was good and not overly sweet. We definitely enjoyed them. (Fair prices, cordial service, large parking lot)

    Just some of their selection!

The best hole-in-the-wall donut shop in town! Haha.. get it? ;-) I have been coming here since my toddler days! 22 years later and I still stop in when I am within the vicinity. Since I first started coming here, the original owners have retired but passed the business to someone else in the family and have kept the amazing recipes. I am SO glad nothing has changed! The service is always so genuine, wholesome and leaves me feeling so happy. Plus, it is Asian-owned and I love supporting my Asian community. You can also sit inside which is what I always did/do with my mom and Grandma. There is one "donut" chair that has been there forever and I always sit in it. To be honest, I actualy am not a big donut person but I absolutely LOVE Lucky Donuts! They are the most light and fluffy donuts I have ever had and nothing I have tried compares. The perfect amount of sweetness, not greasy, and just perfect in every way. If you stop in, you NEED to try their maple bars! I took all they had left today because they are just that good. While you're there, try a classic sugar donut! And a chocolate custard filled! And.. just do yourself a favor and get a dozen! I hope you enjoy this business as much as me and my family does. Thank you, Lucky Donuts, for being the best!

The best donuts in the Tukwila/Burien area by far. They are so fluffy and mouthwatering. Just perfection!

I am thinking about these donuts 3 days later at 1:27qm. Please go support this local business. Idk what's sweeter, the donuts or the service. Both were delish.

Staff is not very friendly nothing special about the donuts good location but they're slow behind the counter and donuts are just basic I would suggest going elsewhere especially when there's several other bakeries in the area customer service is all thumbs down

The Highlights * Croissants: Unbelievably flaky, buttery, and fresh. * Pistachio Apricot Tart: Absolutely amazing--the nutty pistachio paired with bright, sweet apricot was incredible. * Pizza: Don't sleep on the savory stuff. The bakery-style pizza has a great crust, delicious sauce, and generous toppings for a perfect pre-flight lunch. Nothing says "great workout" quite like immediately replacing every calorie you just burned with one of Bakery Nouveau's twice-baked chocolate croissants. I prefer to think of it as strategic carbohydrate replenishment. Everything here is exceptional. The pastries are buttery, flaky, and somehow manage to ruin every grocery store croissant for the rest of your life. The coffee is excellent, the staff is consistently friendly, and it's one of those places where it's impossible to leave with only the one thing you came in for. The neighborhood feels safe, parking is plentiful, and the only real hazard is convincing yourself you deserve "just one more pastry." Five stars. My spin instructor may disagree. Bakery Nouveau is worth every extra minute on the bike.

Add a tip and a drink and suddenly we are $20 for a coffee and a donut. Now, this Goblin LOVES to steal, but it feels like I'm being stolen from. Sometimes the chocolate icing leaves a strange aftertaste. Occasionally there isn't enough vegan Bavarian cream, sometimes I'm swimming in cream. If you get one that is just right, it's hard to taste the difference. But is that enough? The service is solid, but the line can wrap around the sidewalk some weekends. The flow of ordering a donut, to ordering a drink, to receiving your donut needs an engineers opinion. It's generally pretty tight inside, and can be a little dirty on the weekend. A premium product with slightly above average taste.

In the back there is a huge mural of Dolly Parton, Anthony Bourdain, and a tiny Bob Ross in the style of American Gothic. The walls are covered with trinkets from the 80s and 90s like Homies and California Raisin figurines and KISS Pez dispensers. The food: Smashwich - A really good breakfast sandwich. The hash browns give it some added crunch that is surprising but welcome. Chicken in a Biscuit - The biscuit and chicken taste great. It's a bit hard to eat because of how large of a bite it is and how firm the components are. Vanilla Cream Shokupan Doughnut - The donut portion is tasty and there is a ton of whipped cream on this. The cream is quite heavy though and leaves a fatty mouthfeel. Wish this was a lighter cream that's fresh filled into the pastry, but that's another prep step before serving. Overall, really fun place in terms of the decor, music and interesting twists on food. Oodles of nostalgia is always a positive in my book. They release weekly flavors and have yet to put out a flavor I didn't love. Though, don't sleep on their other baked goods or drinks either. If you wanted to enjoy your donuts right away, they have a really cute outdoor seating area as well. The line is no joke though. They're only open Thursday-Sunday until sold out, which they do every day. Make sure you check their Instagram to stay updated on the line status and whether you're still able to join it or not. Their line is especially long when they have savory flavors. On these days, I'd recommend going before opening and waiting rather than coming after. Sometimes it's already too late by then. The staff are all amazing and do their best to serve you as quickly as possible, but it will still require quite a bit of waiting. Highly recommend Flour Box if you want to but come early and be prepared to wait.

I find it fantastic that they're POC and woman-owned, but they have absolutely no accommodations for the largest minority in the world. I emailed them directly, asking them if there are any accommodations for us; as disabled people can't wait in lines for various reasons. I've never had a business tell me "no", but this establishment's response was very close to it: "we're doing what works best for us right now" is what the email said. Not, "Oh yes, how can we help you?" I attempted to wait in the line and even got the donuts, but the cost was having a mental breakdown when I got to my car. I should not have to put myself through physical and mental torture because a business refuses to accommodate my disability, yet alone acknowledge they have a problem. They even recommended that an ABLE-BODIED person get the donuts for me. This is considered ableist, whether they realize it or not, and it felt like a direct slap in the face. This is telling me that they don't care about accommodating disabled people, and that tells me all I need to know about an establishment. This was three years ago. They still haven't changed.
