Story of Mary Joyce
Russ P.

After our visit to Taku Lodge, we heard the story of Mary Joyce (very interesting lady) who opened the Lucky Lady so thought we should stop while in town. Gear dive bar. Clean and warm. Had a pool table. Small place but seemed more of a local place than the traditional tourist place. We had a couple of Guinness's. Very fresh. Would recommend if you're looking for an off the beaten path on your cruise stop.

Of course came here off the cruise ship. The red dog saloon was packed and this seemed like a local place. The bartender was very nice and made us a duck fart like the locals drink it (shaken). It was delicious. Nice little dive bar.

The decision was simple. Ask yourself: Am I a tourist? Or, am I a traveler? Tourist? Go to the Red Dog where everyone imagines they are a prospector and will strike it rich. Traveler? Pull up a stool, order a pint and say hello to the person next to you. Drinking with locals, hearing their stories, and learning about their lives is what The Lucky Lady provides. It's a neighborhood pub with a pool table, a friendly bartender, and a limited menu. Looking to experience the culture you're in as a seasoned traveler? Bypass the tourist trap and head for this place. Setting up all the glasses on my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Drink here.

Okay, I like this place but I was ripped off last night! At shift change I paid out my $40 bar tab. Had 2 beers and 2 shots and was FORCED to pay another $55. I tried to ask the women bartender and she completely ignored me. Her attitude was atrocious. I am sick of being ripped off!!!!! Listen to the guest when the talk to you! You are not always right! Period!

Felt like home away from home. Recommend Alaskan Amber and King St beers. Nikki is the hardest working bartender. I appreciate her service.

Whale Oil Beef Frank*.... this is best dive bar in all of Alaska!!! (not that I've been to nearly all of them, or even remotely close, but I bet I'm right!) We walked in and were greeted with such warmth and friendliness that we knew we weren't just "stopping in for one" and we didn't! We left there with 2 or 3 in our belly, a t-shirt and a boob beer koozie!! On top of that, it was one of the best memories of our time in Juneau. Diane, our bartender, was like the lady next door and seemed genuinely interested in talking with us and everyone else that came through the doors. Locals loved her, tourists were smiling. She wasn't obnoxious or nosy, just pleasant and comfortable. They have pool, TV and darts(?) as well as some interesting décor along the walls. Thanks Diane, thanks Lucky Lady Pub!! * notates: learn to speak Irish, kind of like their great tees!

We came in to try a local beer and it was a fun place to hang out for a bit. I liked the free snacks, friendly service, and dive bar feel.

Reminded us of our local bar. The bar tender gave us an extra pitcher due to someone else's mistake. Good atmosphere and fair prices.

Stopped in here from a cruise ship visit. Friendly bartender and a jovial crowd to share a pint with.

Decent bar and not nearly as crowded as the Red Dog. No food just drinks but they do have a pool table.

Tourists will flock to the sawdust floor places and hang with other cruise ship passengers, which isn't a bad thing.
