Just landed in Juneau, wanted to grab a beer while I waited for my ferry, I was told to leave cause I traveled with my dog, "not even on the patio" I ask? - NO I've never felt more unwelcome, don't get me wrong this place was nice looking, but the bar across the street, WAY MORE FRIENDLY. Best thing about this place is the view and ambiance. Beer is "ok". Oftentimes they are a big miss. Food is a solid 4/5 but is insanely over priced - even for Alaska. We go occasionally when the weather is nice and are looking for a change. Bar staff mixed reviews. They once threw my 16 year-old daughter out who was with her 26-year-old sister and aunt and uncles who are in their 40s. Staff insisted she couldn't be there without an authorized guardian. That's not what Alaska law states so it was very unfortunate that they wouldn't let them stay. read more

But now they have a card you get when you buy a beer and at first I thought that's good because I thought there was a free beer attached but no it's to keep track of how much you drink. BEYOND DISAPPOINTING. My $38 chicken pad Thai arrived cooler than lukewarm... probably because it sat with the rest of our order waiting to be brought to us. They were so kind to offer to "reheat" the chicken and give me a free cookie (which I declined). I requested a refund and got one. Three of us ordered immediately after my father-in-law, and our food came more than 30 minutes later. The experience sure said "welcome to Juneau! We hope your FIRST VISIT EVER and FIRST RESTAURANT experience was stellar." Avoid Forbidden Creek Brewery at all cost! Treat yourself to McDonald's... it will be better. read more

The restaurant and bar are attractive, and overlook the boat harbor with a lovely view. The prices are high, compared to other Juneau restaurants, and the service was ridiculously poor. The food for the four of us arrived separately, each to the wrong person, and one of them didn't come until everyone else was nearly finished eating. These were not complicated lunch orders, at all. The wait staff never offered drinks. My sandwich tasted strangely sweet, and my husband's fish and chips included two very small pieces of fish and some fries; the fish was not fresh. Still hungry, he finished my sandwich. The capper was that when we were finished we were required to bus our own table. Having had to order at a counter and bus the table made it a fast-food experience at five times the price. read more

Ate here a while back and had their Root Beer and it was absolutely delicious. Today we went solely for the Root Beer. I asked about to-go and they canned them for me. My husband couldn't wait until we got home and I had mine with dinner. I was trying to figure out out to take some to my mom in PA. read more

If you're looking to get away from the crowds in Juneau, this is your spot. We were taken here by a local and enjoyed the water views and large, spacious taproom. They also offer outdoor seating with modern fire pits. There's a window to order food that's separate from the brewery yet located inside. We stopped in after a long day in downtown Juneau to relax away from the cruise crowds. Located across from the ferry port and near Mendenhall glacier (Tongass National Forest), the brewery does a brisk business but it's pleasantly busy and didn't feel crowded. The large outdoor space helps, although the weather wasn't particularly good the day we went for seating outdoors. The beer list is very good both in number of beers and diversity of styles-something for everyone! There were even several seltzers on tap. I got a flight +1 because of my inability to make a decision. The person helping us was made great suggestions and even found a solution for filling my non beer drinking friend's last spot on her flight. Food is available and looked fantastic but we were drinking only for our visit. The ramen looked especially good for the chilly drizzly day. read more

Cool brewery. My wife really liked their seltzers. I had 2 flights and they were both very good. Bartender was friendly and I knew the 2 stouts were the same but 1 was on the nitro tap. Nice gift shop. Lots of seating. You can see the brewing operation from the floor which is a neat touch. We ate at the place inside and thought their food was good. Would def go again. read more

I liked this brewery, but I didn't love it. Despite some other reviewers complaining about the beers being too heavily loaded with edgy styles (sours and hazies)...I kind of have the opposite complaint. The beers here were really good, I just wish there were some more modern styles available. But maybe this is just a function of the time of year I was here. (early January) The space is big and beautiful and the service is great. The location is about as far from downtown Juneau as you can get. Locals probably like it this way. But if you're not a local, you're going to pay some big bucks in Lyft fees to get here! I recommend coming here before going to the airport. For me, the highlight of this place is the food. Do not miss this Auke Bay brewery when you are in Juneau. The beer was good (the one bartender was more interested in her phone and her visiting toddler than us) BUT OMG THE FOOD. there's a family/separate business who runs the adjacent kitchen and I suggest you should go with an empty stomach. The food is made from scratch with a small, seasonal menu. Like a dummy I didn't take a picture of that day's menu but it had an Asian flair plus some brunch options. My husband ordered the black cod and it was the freshest fish I've had since catching my own conch in the Bahamas and eating ceviche on the boat. We bought a deck of cards and played for a couple of hours while drinking some fun beers and watching the fog roll in and out. While visiting Juneau again we of course stopped by the brewery, better day as it was not raining but rather a nice cool early evening. Drinks , tried some of the local beers again, very good nice & cold , tall glass hard to go wrong. This time around we tried some food they have an in house vendor on property this is nice & convenient. We tried the Burger & Fries, good burger , fries could be better had too much seasoning. also tried the Fried rice, not bad if you like spicy it had quite the kick, best thing for me was the Pretzel oh man super soft, great on it's own good with the cheese dip. One of the best things about this is of course the lovely scenery outside, nice views while sipping on some good beer. read more

When visiting Juneau, this brewery is a great option. My wife and I were in town from a Norwegian cruise, and our friends that live in town took us here. First time around we ordered the Auke Bay IPA, which was great, not to bitter and nice kick. We enjoyed the outdoor seating, which has heating and amazing views of Auke Bay Creek and the mountain range from far, if you're lucky you might see some wildlife. The second time around we ordered more Auke Bay IPAS. I ordered food there but I think it's a separate entity? I got an order for a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was great but the fries were extremely salty, and I don't mind salty foods. This brewery has a great selection and we enjoy hanging out here when in town. Note, there is a drink limit of 3 beers at this brewery. read more

This was our very first brewery we went to when were visiting Juneau, fresh off of the airplane! This location is great as it has a great view of Auke Bay which is simply gorgeous! I couldn't imagine a better place to enjoy views while eating and drinking here in Juneau. We had a few beers here to unwind and we weren't in any hurry to leave. The tap list was diverse and fairly wide for different kinds of beer options. One was the AukNess which was a fantastic Schwarzbier. So very flavorful and enjoyable! Another was the Wild Ptarmigan which was a Kentucky Common beer. This is a style of beer I don't come across much(at least where I'm from)so I definitely had to get it. It had a strong, robust flavor that only you could get from a well made Kentucky Common beer. Conveniently enough there are food options here as a restaurant off to the side of the bar serves food, Red Spruce is what it's called and it was very good as well! If you don't have a car when trying to get around Juneau I definitely recommend getting a taxi to get to this brewery. It's not that far from the airport but it's not all that close either. Forbidden Peak wasn't just our first brewery we lit into when we arrived in Juneau but it was also our favorite one! read more

I feel that I should note, per current municipality order, if you are not eating food, they will not allow you to drink inside the building. They will only allow you to sit indoors if you order food. It's beautiful brewery! They are strictly following all COVID19 precautions and we felt safe drinking and eating here. They have outdoor seating with fires and heaters and a beautiful view of the harbor. We enjoyed our beer flight while watching an eagle fly around to and from the roof of the brewery. While none of their beers are super memorable or anything special, they were all good and they had a lot of variety. I loved the ambiance and how open and spaced the seating was. Their food is also good. The menu is small and a little on the pricey side for what you get, but my salad was extremely fresh and the dressing was homemade. read more

Solid beer with a wonderful view! We enjoyed sunset over Auke Bay while having a flight (4 x 3 oz. pours) of the ESB, red, black lager, and brown. My husband liked their IPA - it was very crisp. There's a food spot called Spruce that had several delicious sounding offerings on the menu (Ramen, fried rice etc.) You can pick up growlers or cans to take with you, and they also have branded merchandise in store. This is a great local brewery. The beer is above average, truth be told I haven't seen quite the same level of creativity in the beer department as some of the other Juneau offerings. However, the vibe and location is amazing. Best view and patio in Juneau. Staff has always been very friendly and helpfully. I would probably put it as a 4.5 in a perfect world but playing by yelp rules, this is the best low key atmosphere brewery in Juneau.
