9/10/2025 - Stop at Griz Bar and enjoyed the great ambience with fire pits. It offers two kind of local crafted IPA beers and other beers, but no coffee. The bartender is very friendly.

Becoming one of our traditions when in Juneau. Nice little outside bar with wonderful fire pits. They feature Alaska made spirits and the bartenders are very friendly and helpful. Great place to grab a local cocktail on your way back from your daily adventure.

Cute place with outdoor space and fire pits in the heart of downtown. Great to gather a big group and mingle, easy to find on the corner. Park downtown and walk. Lots of drink options including canned cocktails for people who want something that's easy to order but not beer.

After dinner near by we stopped at this bar for some drinks, as it usually is in Juneau it was a drizzly evening with light rain & cool temps. For drinks we ordered the Hot toddy this was perfect for the night as we sat by the fire, good music playing. The bar over looks the pier & water at night it was nice since the fire pits are on great to just relax & enjoy some music & cocktails. This was the perfect outdoor spot for our night . the Bartender was nice & friendly , good drinks, service & prices great spot for enjoying a nice evening or day.

What a FANTASTIC outdoor bar! We were on an RC cruise and had a couple of hours before having to get back on the Ovation, and the sight of this unique venue drew us in. Had some great drinks (and shots!) served by a wonderful bartender - I don't remember her name, but in telling us about her story, she grew up in Juneau, traveled around the country (I do remember her mentioning being in Philadelphia), and then found herself back in Juneau and at the Griz. Also met some great people at the bar - a family from Maryland who was also on the cruise and a couple from Seattle on vacation - chance meetings that added a memorable flavor to the overall experience of the Griz and Juneau. Stopping here was definitely a superb way of topping off our day and our experience in Juneau!

Nice Chuli Stout, warm fire pit,,

Fun place to warm up on a brisk Juneau afternoon, luv the fire pits, down side is chairs a little low, had a nice stout, did not get the waitress name but she was on point, a taco truck is next door that's another review. Meet up with a local friend and had a nice visit, will stop in again.

Perfect spot for outdoor happy hour on a sunny Juneau day. The views are spectacular: snow capped mountains, water everywhere, boats, and float planes. Fire pits for when it gets chilly. For drinks, I only had the Juneauper, a canned grapefruit gin and tonic made by an excellent local gin distillery. Very tasty. Nice energy from the bartender as well!

This is easily one of the best bars in Juneau. Its simple outdoor location is one of the top spots in town to meet up with other locals.

So after finding out that the other restaurant was not open at all that day we came back for a second time. Both times staff greeted us and told us to sit where we liked. It was a cool day but wanted to sit outside and watch the people and water. They offer a good selection of beers as well as some cocktails. (Check out the Bloody Mary!) So the first stop we ordered a flight as well as the Blueberry Mojito. The beers were good. The Blueberry Mojito was amazing. Our second stop we ordered the halibut fish and chips and seafood chowder and a beer and another mojito. The fish was cooked perfectly. Not too greasy. The chips were great. The chowder was good. Hot for a cold day and not too thick. Staff were always checking on us and made some great suggestions for the beers and food. We will stop by next time in town. This is one of our favorite places.

Pretty packed with other cruise folks. We just got one order of fish and chips and split it. Menu says 8 ounces of Alaskan halibut in a gluten free batter they make with their lemon lime spruce tip seltzer. Came as two pieces. Batter was crisp and golden brown like it should be. Fish inside was white and flaky. Fries are the hop salt fries. Little cup of tartar and a lemon wedge. The fish was good. I will give them that. But $38 for two pieces of fish and some fries is ridiculously stupid. That is just price gouging for the cruise crowd. Really disappointed we paid that. Service was moderate at best. Nobody was rude. Nobody was all that on it either. And watch out for the birds. They have pigeons walking around on the wood floor inside the building. One was pecking crumbs right by the glass where the kegs are. They take off and flap over the tables too. Feathers and the occasional bird doo doo. There is no way somebody hasnt gotten splattered at some point. Would eat the fish again if it was half the price. Not rushing back at $38.

You do have to walk about 15 minutes, but the dining room by the water really is the best spot. As we head to the tented dining room, a bald eagle swoops across the sky and lands on a post in the pier. While this is regarded as the best king crab in Alaska, eating king crab in Juneau is actually insanely expensive. Well if you have come all this way, when in Rome? You can order the king crab legs per leg or in a combo that also includes 4 mini crab cakes, a cup of crab bisque, and rolls. If you have a group, get a bucket of crab legs. They offer both red king crabs and golden king crabs. Go with the red and don't bother with the golden. The red king crabs have more meat and have a sweeter flavor. (Also, if you bring cash, you can avoid the 3% credit card fee.) We get a couple combos including crab chowder, crab cakes, drinks, and red king crab legs, plus legs for the rest of the group. They give you a crab cracking tool. There are a couple prongs on top for holding the top of the shell in place and a sharp edge for ripping the shell open from the bottom. Watch out for the sharp pointy spikes of the shell, so tread carefully. You sort of rock the cracker up and down in a straight line lengthwise until the entire cylinder of crab is free. There are three main pieces. The biggest leg segment has the sweetest and firmest crab meat. The smaller leg segment is more tender and even juicier. The body segment has a big bundle of flaky flesh. I can't remember if I've ever had a red king crab leg all to myself, so this is definitely the most and best king crab I've ever had.

We went to their location not at the pier thinking it would be less crowded, which it was but the line is still about 2 people deep, but they move you through ordering quickly. You grab a spot at the picnic table and someone brings you the bucket you ordered. The crab was so delicious and a great size, loaded with meat. The shells were easy to get through with their little tool (I called it the can opener) which you use to split the shells. We had a great time and the crab was amazing!
