We drove into town (from San Diego) and had to purchase a few things before going to my mother in laws house. We asked the meat clerk ( didn't catch name, long haired guy, goofy look on face) and he was extremely rude! We asked for hamburger meat he said " we don't have any out". We asked him to get us a pound from the back and you'd think we'd ask for 20! He was furious and stormed off to get it. We just walked off to get other items and he gave it to us and we said " thank you" and asked where in the store an item was. He pointed and them called us "stupid"! He didn't think I heard him but I did! What a jerk! I can't believe people are like this here and managers don't do anything about it! No sense in complaining because they kept these people! I don't like being mistreated by anyone and I don't like being called stupid by anyone. It's just wrong! Well if I could give this no stars I would and if I had this persons name, I'd put it here. Exceptionally wonderful experience the other day. I'm a regular and have a disease that causes me to be very weak. The cashier noticed how weak I was getting and the "help out" guy was helping someone else. So he closed his checkstand to help me to my car and load up my groceries for me. He was genuinely concerned about me and such a wonderful guy. His name is Michael, and he is the greatest. Thank you, Michael!!! read more

Worst experience ever! I walk up to check out with my cart of groceries to tiffany who was the checker and Sofia who was the courtesy clerk both were not friendly both did not say hi. Sofia did not ask if I had bags just stood there not banging anything till I was almost done unloading my cart and went over and handed her my bags. Tiffany did not say one word to me while she was ringing up my groceries so rude so unfriendly if your so miserable don't work there!!! I had brought tons of bags and Sofia the courtesy clerk left all my drinks out of the bags and all my breads and basically just threw them in the cart neither one said have a good day or anything. Soooo rude rather go to Oliver's where the prices and the people are way better. Congrats lucky's you just loss another customer. read more

I have been coming to this Lucky's since it first opened, back when it was originally Albertson's in the late 90's. And fortunately very little has changed at this store even after the Albertson's / Lucky's flip flop that they did, which is a plus. The store itself has always been a good one, but truthfully what I really wanted to write a review about is specifically the deli department at this store. And to go even further, I want to review and highlight a subset of the deli and a particular offering that I have been a long time lover / supporter / admirer of ever since they opened. The item that I feel is worth singling out with it's very own individual review...is the fried chicken. This store has the absolute best fried chicken in the area, hands down! It is exponentially better than ANY of the actual fried chicken restaurants in the area (which is a pretty sad statement about those chains that a grocery store deli counter does a better job than places whose SOLE PURPOSE is to make fried chicken). It blows KFC / Popeye's away with ease, in fact it's not even a fair competition to even compare them to the garbage those places serve! Popeye's would maybe be decent, but for some reason all their chains in this area inevitably turn into meth labs staffed by tweakers for some reason, but I digress. The chicken that they make at Lucky's is always fresh, they are consistently making it throughout the day which ensures you never get old chicken. And if you are fortunate enough to get there when they have just pulled it out of the fryer...honest to God it's like heroin. I'm not even kidding...I could eat myself into some sort of fried chicken coma, it borders on some level of danger and insanity. The breading they use is just the right amount, never too much where you feel like you're just eating a bunch of batter. The seasoning is just right, it's just really simple and fantastic friend chicken. But an aspect that I truly value the most is that everything that is done in terms of cooking and prep is done in clear and plain view of the customer. You see EVERYTHING they are doing from start to finish, from breading and battering the chicken, to loading it in the pressure fryer's (HUGE points for actually having pressure fryer's like the professional places do!) to them temperature checking the chicken for proper and safe cooking temperature, the whole nine yards! And the place is always spotless! This is a far cry from any of the other chain fried chicken places that always look disgusting and dirty and have extremely questionable sanitary conditions and even more questionable looking employees! Most of the chain spots make me think I will need a battery of shots and immunizations just stepping foot inside, or if I eat there I will surely need some sort of emergency medical procedure or have organ failure. This Lucky's is ALWAYS extremely clean and I really value that I can see everything that is happening with the food prep and that it is being done in meticulously maintained conditions! The service is always great too, the people serving are friendly and it just rounds out a really great experience. So, if you are someone who really, really loves fried chicken (as it should extremely apparent that I do if you've read all this), then you will appreciate all these positives as much as I have and I would tell you to get to Lucky's on Bicentennial as soon as you can! read more

Do not use Lucky bakery for your custom cake needs. I recently ordered a cake for my daughters birthday, I even went and got the stuff they needed to do it because they weren't sure they could do what we wanted, I gave them ample amounts of time, I picked up the cake today and they had ruined it. It was lopsided, wasn't placed on the cake board right, the letter and borders they used two completely different shades of pink, they butchered our zebra sugar sheet we brought them to "place on top", they cut it up and tried to use it around the border which is not what we asked for, then they had 2 inch gaps on the front and the back boarder which were plain white. It was unacceptable to give a customer a cake like that! Horrible. read more

Friendly staff. Convenient location for me. Best thing of all is Luckys employees are not screaming advertisements over the loud speaker every 2 minutes like Safeway does. Man I really hate it when I'm being screamed at about a "sale in the bakery/meat dept/deli dept., etc....so annoying! I also like that they carry some bulk items like Costco. I'd give them 4 stars if they could improve their butcher/meat section. Not friendly, no one standing at the counter, and not enough fresh selection. read more

This is not a fancy pants all organic boutique, its also not a total dented and spoiled meat emporium. I love this place, it is always surprising me in what I find in strange corners of it. I often find great wines at insane prices here. The meat department is pretty decent, often they have smoking deals on stuff. The produce is tolerable and the sundries are exemplary. The cheese selection stinks, not because it has fragrant cheeses but because there is a very limited selection. This is a great place to shop on a dime and when you have to feed all your miserable relatives when they come to pay you a visit. The blueberry muffins are also pretty damned good. read more

All the employees here are great. I made a technical mistake on one of my bank cards and had to talk to two managers to get it dealt with and both were willing and helpful and fixed my problem, even when they weren't required to do so. I had a very positive experience at this Luckys. read more

Who woulda thought it? Where local bakeries, donut shops, and fancy French patisseries failed (or couldn't be bothered), Lucky bakery came through! I was stuck in hospital in California instead of being at the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and determined to celebrate the day with King Cakes for the nurses! After making tons of calls, it turned out that nobody in the baking biz even knew what a King Cake was. Shocking! On a whim, I rang Lucky where the helpful Tiffany looked through the recipe charts and assured me they could make them, complete with plastic baby surprise (part of the tradition). The price she quoted was so reasonable ($5.99) I assumed they must be miniature cakes and ordered two. In fact they were full sized and delicious: apple pudding with strawberry cream cheese and of course lots of garish purple and green icing! The moral of the story - don't overlook the Lucky bakery. They did a terrific job at a low price and were easy to work with too! read more

Has anyone else noticed that the two checkers at Lucky are as slow as snails! It is frustrating to get in any of the manned lines because you know it will take you forever to get out of the store and on your way. I know they are focused on people checking themselves out, but if you have anything other than a few bar coded items, it will take forever self checking out as well. read more
