I have been shopping here for over 20 years. This store continues to fall into disrepair. They USED to have a Starbucks, a Wells Fargo bank, and weekend barbecues in the parking lot. All that is gone now. They don't even have a butcher case any more. Lately I have noticed many expired goods for sale and the meat is of poor quality. I just cannot shop here any longer. read more

Man, this store goes in waves, it by far has the least amount of traffic for a store this big that I have ever seen. Their deli department is really hit or miss, with missing being their norm. I'd think a deli department would help keep the lights on in a grocery store, so service there should be a high priority. But for the most part it seems that deli associates would rather chit chat in the back of house, rather than serving customers. I'm sure I'll have a better experience & luck @ molsberrys, which unfortunately isn't a union store, but seems more committed to customer service, at least in their deli department: Do better lucky! read more

I have mixed feelings about reviewing this local Santa Rosa big chain market. On the plus side, the store is chock full of all kinds of items for sale: Mexican gourmet foods. Huge dairy case, surprisingly good sushi, fried chicken and a decent veggie selection. The store decor is basic and maybe a bit grimy. Nice selection of fancy toiletries. The folks who work in the store are very nice but very quick to complain about their leadership...who seem to be in the regular practice of mistreating their employees. Honestly, I think they have some great bones and they can make this a great store! But will they? read more

Lucky has the worst promotion and saving offers with their Digital. You have to download the Lucky App and carry your phone around to get the deals. Just terrible. I don't even have a smart phone. Used to do my groceries there for years and go now to Smart & Final. Much better! read more

I like their sales. I often go to see what's on sale for items I use frequently. I don't recommend the meat. I purchased a lamb chop and it went bad before I was able to cook it (left in fridge for two days). The store is huge. You will find what you need. read more

Hey it's not Olivers but it's a tried and true old school market maven. Luckys parent Co is Save mart and way way back, I worked for them. As I remember, they really did strive to keep prices low and had a human/humane work ethic management style before it was envogue! 4 stars for not being as upscale as I prefer, but I'd like to say 5 stars for not giving up after two fire disasters in two years forced this essentially neighborhood market to overcome and persevere. Overall, probably the worst grocery store in Santa Rosa. Apparently, never enough employees to run the store. Never anyone to help at the deli. At best, one check-out stand is open. Typically the doors are locked appropriately 10 minutes prior to store closing time. I don't know how this place can even afford to stay open. Since I live right next door, I wish they would replace this store with something functioning. read more

The produce is one of the worst I've ever seen, almost to the point of rotting. The deli is ok, experienced butchers. The ambiance is scary, the giant cracks in the floor made me worried about being up there during an earthquake. The service is great and the staff is knowledgeable, for the most part. read more

Order some cupcakes for my grandsons birthday for his football team. Called 3 Safeway's they could not help me. Called Lucky's thinking I would get the same answer. Talked to a super sweet young lady on the phone in the bakery on 10/26. Had to call 3 times to get everything straight ( my daughter had class at the JC.). Enjoy the big wide aisles. It seems that there is less inventory and selection variety in this and all other Lucky supermarkets that I've visited lately. Back in the 1980's I was a Lucky's regular. The advertisement was "Lucky's is the low price leader". That slogan sure wouldn't be truth in advertising today. I popped in here for a few cans of Progresso soup. I usually buy the 6 pack at Costco for about $7. Even high priced Olivers has the brand on sale frequently for about $1.79 / can. Here at Lucky's I paid $3.79 for a can. I still wanted soup for dinner and paid the outrageous price. I would have bought several cans if the price was reasonable. Honestly I rather grocery shop at Food Maxx or Grocery Outlet if I'm looking for a bargain. There's many supermarkets from big corporate to small mom & pop in Santa Rosa. Frankly, how does Lucky's compete? I don't get their market niche. read more

I would like to give credit where credit is due! Lucky market Bakery on Bicentennial Way Santa Rosa Calif. I went to the bakery frustrated as heck after a long day of decorating for my grandaughters 22nd birthday. I made the cake and years ago I use to go to lucky to buy the Best frosting in the world! I stopped in hoping to get the same great service that I always got from years past. Well It was my Lucky day! ( No pun intended ) A lovely gal by the name of Tiffany was working hard behind the counter. She saw me at the counter and she hurriedly asked how she can help. I told her about that wonderful frosting and walla she put it in containers and labeled and priced so I may buy! What a life saver and what customer service ! I ordered our Thanksgiving dinner kit with half a turkey breast at the last moment. I want to say we were pleasantly surprised as to how good everything was. The potatoes & stuffing were exceptionally delicious as was the turkey & cranberry sauce. Took the stress out of the day. I highly recommend & will be back for Christmas!! read more

This Luckys has gotten progressively more and more depressing. Disgruntled clerks, dirty floor, lack of regular inventory have become the norm. I have tried to be patient and understanding with my local Lucky's, but today was my worst experience yet. They seem to use bait and switch pricing models, rarely do they have more than one checker available so you have to use the self pay machines that never seem to be working, have incorrect pricing, it is so stressful to shop here every step of the way is difficult and unpleasant. Two products were twice as much than labeled, sadly I'll go to Other grocery stores from now on. read more

I love this Lucky's store, big and room to roam, the checkers are friendly. I chat with Thomas frequently and Cory always says hi to me as a regular customer. There are never crowds at this location and the prices beat Safeway and Whole Foods by a mile. This store just has a"bad energy"... if you use self check plan on "bothering" the lady that oversees the covert operation. Some the of the worst prompts around. The store could use a makeover, including a better layout. Prices aren't that great. Lucky, years back, was always a discount food chain, now, I don't know what happened. Customer NO service. I needed help in the meat department which is now a soda display. So I went to the front of the store (meat department is in the back) to the customer service desk and got someone to page the meat department over the intercom that a customer needed help and was waiting. I went back to the meat department and no one came out after waiting for a good 5 minutes. Back to the front of the store from the customer service desk and this time there was no one to help me there either. As far as I could tell there were only 2-3 people working in the store. Waited a good 10 minutes and finally gave up and went to a different supermarket down the street. If you are going to close your meat department counter you need to at least install a bell or something back there so you don't have to go to the front of the store and hope that they will come out from the back to help you after getting paged. read more

Let me start by saying I never come to Lucky because I prefer Safeway and it's right around the corner too. My boyfriend went into the store earlier today because I didn't have time to go to Safeway and get the ingredients to start dinner, so he was looking for ground coriander for 30 minutes standing in the isle where the spices were. Several employees walked by him several times and didn't offer for help. Then he went to go pay and asked the person at the register for "ground coriander" and she told the nagger to go look and "if it not there then it's not there", the manager was nearby and walked over and told him to call in the morning and ask why they didn't have coriander..... like what........ Lucky's is my go to grocery store for staples. They're close by & parking is easy. Checkout is generally easy too & the Cashiers are always polite & helpful. Can't say they have the best selection in town & for a change I sometimes go over to Raleys on Fulton which is an awesome store but not convenient for me. But I'm in the store 2-3 times per week, once on a major run and twice more to top up or get various needed items. I get 90% of my groceries there. The one complaint I have about Lucky's is with their baggers/"courtesy clerks". First, they are apparently not trained in how to bag and make a jumble of the groceries. They usually try to stuff as much as possible into as few bags as possible regardless of item type. If if bring in 4 bags, it's because I want my groceries dispersed and not cramped into 2 heavy ones. One is particularly bad, not only in bagging but in his rude & lackadaisical attitude. He meanders & chats to friends while bagging, slowing down the process for the next person in line and recently he was driving around in circles in the parking lot on the handicapped cart for no apparent reason, getting in the way of drivers/customers. If the baggers were better my rating would have been 4 stars. read more

Stop being so cheap and set up the wifi so we can at least use the Lucky Stores app. There are too many other grocery choices in Santa Rosa that will accommodate their customers. I haven't been to all the Albertsons Grocery stores yet here in Santa Rosa, but this one is great. The fruit selection could be better. Sometimes it's great, sometimes so so. The salad section has Live Lettuce (our favorite) and lots of types of bagged lettuces to choose from including Romaine Hearts. Their bakery has bagels, snickerdoodles (Try their bakery boxed snickerdoodles! Really delicious!!!). the bagels are ok, not great (Safeway has better bagels) but they'll do! They have Morningstar and Boca vegetarian patties, etc. No Quorn yet (Safeway carries Quorn). They have a big selection of Patak's! Indian Gourmet foods! Including 3 microwavable full sized dinnners, many many selections of the different cooking sauces in jars. They have papadoms. This section is on the same aisle as the juice aisle near the front of the store, in case you're wondering. They also carry Amy'sand other health food store items. In the yogurt/dairy section they have Activia and a huge selection of yogurts, Dannon Whips, Dannon Original, Dannon Chocolate Mousse Yogurts, Yo-Crunch (you've got to try this, it's so delicious with either chocolate on top of your yogurt or granola). They have a great yogurt-dairy section! They also have a great selection of household cleaning products, from Scotch Brite to Mr. Clean, Tide, etc, on a huge aisle. A really great selection, for instance tonight I bought Scotch Brite (I think that's their name) Bathroom/Tile scrubber that's similar to a Swiffer. So, to round it up - great yogurt and dairy selection, great cleaning products selection, great snickerdoodles in the bakery, extremely friendly service people work there as well. They also have 6 self service checkout counters, and they WILL call for more checkers if 3 or sometimes less, are in line. Just like they advertise. Finally, they have disinfectant wipes to wipe down your shopping cart in the front of the store, which I really like. Great shopping experience and I recommend shopping there! EDIT: They have plastic bag recycling in the front of the store! EDIT #2: They just started carrying Quorn now! Yay!! read more

Well now! This Lucky's made the mountaintop climb worth it! Situated up a hill in a plaza they share only with Home Depot I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was a brightly lit modern store with friendly staff that smile and chat with each other and their customers. This speaks volumes to me of what expect is good management. I find Lucky's generally to be on the pricey side. But their sales are bombing. Ribeye for $5.98? Yes please! They gave a wall of clearance items too. The aisles are nicely wide. I used to shop with my service dog and ride in the cart. It was a nightmare in most congested aisles. I would have navigated this store with ease. I had staff ask if I needed help. :-0 That was refreshing. Perhaps since it was a Thursday at 10:30am and they weren't too busy they were able to be extra attentive. It's nice to be smiled at and treated like I'm appreciated than be treated like the equivalent of a human hangnail (um. Hello Safeway?!)! Note: there seemed to be an unpleasant aroma of mildew and mold coming up the Lucky's side of the hill that was off-putting. read more

Oddly enough, I was really impressed with this place. It's totally hidden in the hills and usually a pleasant shopping experience because it's never busy. You get in and out really quickly, they layout of the store is easy to navigate and there is always plenty of parking. The store is extremely clean and is nicely decorated. Also, the staff has always been so friendly. Bonus: you don't have to sign up for any silly membership and try to recall what phone number of email address you used when you signed up to receive discounts. Whatever is on sale, is on sale for everyone. read more

I actually feel kind of bad that the remote location makes people forget that it exists so they patronize the much-more-crowded Safeway store down the road instead which is a shame. I had not been to this store before but when i googled "dry ice", they had it. I had never used dry ice before and didn't know much about it but with a power outage/fire danger approaching Sunday, I decided to give it a whirl to save the food in the fridge. I called to be sure they had it and a very pleasant guy, named Mateo, told me yes and where they were located. I got there and right away, Mateo was washing down a cart and gave it to me. I thanked him and asked him where the dry ice was. He promptly told me that he would get it for me, to just get in line and order it. I got in line and Connie was the checker and when I told her, slightly embarrassed, that i didn't know how to use/order the dry ice she kindly told me the whole process. Katie was the other checker nearby and overheard what i said and she gave me a flyer and showed me all the details I needed. Mateo showed up and took off to get the blue ice. Jennifer also warned me not to touch it directly and what to use. They were all so amazing! I thought customer service had all but vanished but i was wrong, you just need to know where to go to find it! Nice clean supermarket. Never busy when I do go here, I think it's because of the out of the way location. Can actually canvas the whole store with only running into a few other shoppers. Best to go through the self checkout, usually only one person checking. They have an in-store Wells Fargo. Like that you don't need any kind of rewards card to get their deals. My cat peed on the floor, which is usually a sign of the litter getting too dirty (scooping doesn't get the small urine-soaked pieces). I didn't want anymore of that to happen, so I went to Safeway on Marlow, but they were out of Scoop Away. And I can't switch cat litter or else my cat will express his displeasure by peeing on the floor. So I went to Safeway on Mendocino, and they were out, too. They had little pictures of Scoop Away on the shelf to show that it went there, but with different types of litter. So I went to Petco. Petco, the largest pet store in Santa Rosa, was out of Scoop Away! I happened to be passing Lucky, so I went in to see if they had Scoop Away, and they had it! The boxes were $12 for 20 pounds, which is more expensive than I'm used to though. But Lucky might have saved me from cleaning up more cat pee. The store looks like I remember Lucky supermarkets as a kid, which is good for the sake of nostalgia, but might not be great for the operation of a store. read more

I can't stand this place at all. It's better than the other Lucky in Montgomery village because at least it seems cleaner and more well-run, but it's still just another low-grade big-corporation mass-produced store with a limited selection and bad prices luring people with "club prices" or "sales" that actually make the prices only about as good as local groceries. As is typical of comparable stores, they have lots and lots of the same thing, or sometimes (as with bread) different "brands" that really are just the same quality or basically the same thing made by a different company (or even the same company using a different brand) rather than really offering a good selection of high-quality local items. One of the worst things about this place, and the point that puts it from 2 to 1 star, is the place itself. It's a giant, dark, windowless dungeon. At least Safeway has a somewhat more cheerful feel. read more

Pros: -Overall this place has the friendliest workers out of any other grocery store I've been to. People stocking produce will say hello and that they hope I have a great day. People gathering carts in the parking lot will say hi. Everyone is just really nice! -Always good parking...never too packed there, even right at 5pm. -Have a gas rewards card. -Have a pretty wide selection of stuff! It's not a huge store, but they usually have everything that I need. Cons: -Usually only a couple check-out lines are open, so even if it's not busy, it still is slow to check out. -There are cheaper grocery stores out there. -Although they do have a wide selection of stuff, since it isn't a huge store, they don't always have as many options as I'd like. I used to shop here a lot more since it was the closest supermarket to my house, but since the fires things have never really been the same. The last time I went in here, there was still a burnt smell about the place. The selection in general, but especially of fresh produce, has never been particularly good, and the prices aren't amazing. I liked that in the past you didn't need to sign up for some club to get the best/advertised prices but now, following every other super market, you do. My biggest complaint, however, is that they close at 9, despite the signs posted on the door saying midnight. read more

Time to give a review that's a little more recent. Albertson's was sold off and the new owner rebranded this location to Lucky (remember Lucky before they were bought and changed TO Albertson's?). I'm happy to say that Lucky seems to have everything Albertson's did - great low prices, big selection and so on. Plus, they run different specials with their club card, such as spend $50 on groceries and receive 5 cents off your gas purchase at Shell. They also have a self check-out which could likely save you some time if this place was busy, although I've always been here at night, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. Lucky also has a Redbox, which may come in handy when you want to have 'date night' at home, or just want to rent a movie. read more

My mom went in last week to get some turkey from the deli. Usually she doesn't get turkey so she asked the person behind the counter for a small amount to see what it would weigh. My mom explained that since she usually doesn't get turkey she didn't know how a pound of turkey would look like so after the lady rudely asked her how much she would like my mom said maybe a pound. when the lady put some turkey on the scale my mom said oh that looks like a good amount. The lady proceeded to tell my mom rudely "that's not even a pound." Okay, well that's why she explained to you before that she doesn't exactly know how much she wants. I wasn't familiar with the area but managed to navigate here. I don't understand why their sign was very tiny but probably because it was cheaper to make. This Lucky store looked clean and organized as I walked by the aisles. I was looking for something that I could eat for breakfast for the week. The layout was different than what I remembered from going to a Lucky store at a different location in the past. I almost thought that this building was something else before Lucky took over. They had self-checkout stations so you could potentially go in and not have to talk to anybody. It was faster for me to actually go to a person to pay for my food while my coworker went through the self-checkout station. The best customer service ever. When we moved to Santa Rosa we were surprised to find that our favorite bread (Wholesome Harvest Oatmeal, the closest to home-made you'll ever find) wasn't stocked anywhere. The company who makes it shows Safeway and Lucky on the "Where to Buy" list. So I emailed Safeway, Oliver's and Lucky to see if they could get it. I got no response from Safeway or Oliver's... but Nicole, an assistant manager at this Lucky store, called me and said she'd look into it. It took her several weeks and a string of phone calls to learn that territorial rules meant they couldn't sell it here. But she persisted until they agreed to ship one case - 12 loaves, frozen and parbaked to be finished in the store - just for us. I have 6 baked and sliced loaves in our home freezer, and they're keeping the rest in their freezer to finish later. I have NEVER received this kind of personal attention at a grocer, and would not have reasonably expected them to do this. So thanks to Nicole, her bakery manager and a couple super friendly employees who help with slicing and bagging, I just had the best tasting bread of all times for breakfast. Life in Santa Rosa is 99.8% perfect, and Nicole and the people at Lucky on Bicentennial just pushed it over the top. I couldn't be more amazed or pleased. read more
