Village Bakery is an amazing bakery located on the edge of Santa Rosa. They had a huge assortment of different pastries and drinks. Village Bakery is my definition of True Love!! By far the best I've ever had in the pastry and cookie selections, from the chocolate croissant, pesto cheese croissant, lemon Poppy muffins, pumpkin scone and my favorite the chocolate chip cookie! I'm looking forward to trying EVERYTHING! I've tried most of these items from my Taylor Lane coffee shop in Sebastopol. I had to know where these delicious pastries were from because baby when I tell you they make me so happy, I mean it with my whole heart! I looked up this location and so glad they are close to my home. Love love love it here! I can't wait to try it all! The service I got was so pleasant. Very friendly ladies working. I wanted to try this place because I live nearby. Unfortunately after reading over the menu and deciding on avocado toast, I was then told they were out. I figured I'd try a breakfast burrito but they don't make egg whites only. The egg is all pre mixed. We had to leave and go somewhere else. read more

My wife and I love sourdough bread and she found Village Bakery with the help of Yelp. We got a big round loaf of sourdough for $5.85. It's great that they can slice the freshly baked loaf for us. It took one slice for me to declare Village Bakery as my favorite place for freshly baked sourdough bread. I've returned three weeks in a row to enjoy this bread and got a loaf for our neighbors who really liked it, too. Village Bakery also have some delicious looking desserts and pastries. They have a small seating area inside and outside if you wish enjoy your delights there. The customer service is always friendly and courteous. We'll definitely be back :) read more

Kitchen is regularly closed on the weekend, hand pies are never actually heated up even when requested, service is either slow or incomplete. Pastries are excellent, but the promise of other food is also misleading. read more

Had breakfast here from out of town and food was subpar. Was looking for a nice bakery to have coffee and a fresh pastry but was sadly let down. I ordered a dozen cupcakes. The staff was nice and the order was completed at the expected time. Unfortunately, the cupcakes just weren't good. We didn't even eat them. Both the cake and the frosting were so dense it was inedible. The icing and cake was actually hard. The chocolate cake had little flavor. Love their multi-seeded sourdough bread!!! First experienced it at Terrapin Creek, a Michelin recognized restaurant in Bodega Bay, CA. They have their own following, some like it, some don't. I do think it lacks some salt for flavoring, but that is hit or miss. I still come back because the pastries are good and the bread is delicious. It jjst doesnt last long, so be sure to use it up quickly. I like the new outlook of the location after it was closed for a while. Now the annoying beeping sound coming from around the corner needs to be addressed. Found out about this new little bakery through Facebook at the old East Wind location. A small bakery with display counters and 2 tables inside. A variety of pastries but not enough selections. No espresso or drink menu yet. A majority of the case was empty. I ordered a lemon tart, almond twist, 2 apple pies, an apricot and blueberry danish. Good food and cute little bakery. The reason I visited this bakery in the first place is that the owner responds to EVERY Yelp review, which not only shows integrity, but it also shows genuine interest in customer service. I'm glad that I went in, because the baker (Leah) was clearly interested in baking me a special birthday cake, and she took the time to sit down and understand my needs. This bakery moved in to the old "East Wind Bakery" location. My wife and I stopped in to check it out and left with a Butter Danish, Ham and Cheese croissant, and a loaf of Sebastopol sourdough. Fast service and everything was fresh and tasty. The croissant was huge! I almost couldn't finish it. Definitely worth the trek across town. We will return!!! read more

village bakery is as close to an old world bake shop as one could find in the Santa Rosa area. They have been a part of sonoma county for many years and known for their quality of breads and pastries. My favorite is the carrot muffin that has a variety of textures and flavors that compliments a cup of coffee or tea. All of their pastries are of decent size and well filled....Their new location on Sebastopol road has limited offerings for now but they are committed to expand over time. The most important aspect is after they were flooded out and had to close they did not expect to be able to open again...We they did find a way to open and in 2 locations so it was a win win for everyone....... read more

Came by again, and this time we picked up a sampling of pastries. They were soooo good! A ginger scone, a pesto croissant, and an orange poppyseed twist. We brought our haul back home to enjoy with ham, cutie oranges, and homemade pour over coffee with frothed milk. Such a yummy Saturday brunch & Netflix. We will definitely be returning often! So the bakery has a nice selection of lovely looking treats, and I was happy to pickup some goodies despite the unfriendly and nonchalant sales person. The items I picked included an eclair, a slice of princess cake, two plain cupcakes, & the cookie, totaling $24. The sales lady asked if I would like the items to be in the same box to which I replied yes, and that was the only communication she offered apart from stating the cost at the end of the transaction. When I opened the box at the counter, I saw the two cupcakes had been piled on top of the eclair and slice of princess cake, with one already falling over on its side and creating large indentations in the two other treats. I rearranged them, trying to arrange the box so the cupcakes wouldn't be flat on their heads and also pushing into the other two desserts right there at the counter, before I paid and left. I believe they will be delicious. But for $24 for treats in a box that are for the Easter holiday, one would expect slightly better service or not piling all of the pricey delicacies right on top of one another so they'll be smushed together before I arrive home. Maybe put some time into training sales people to have courtesy and not place items in such a ridiculous manner in the box, and find a recipe for cookies that don't crumble to the touch. I wouldn't quite call the cookie a cookie, more like crumbs because it lost its shape immediately when I picked it up. If I eat it, what I will be eating is crumbs. Overall, even if the other treats are delicious (the cookie crumbs are not appetizing), I don't plan on returning. read more

There is a real shortage of good bakeries in Santa Rosa, so I am glad to have Village Bakery back, and in their new location in Montgomery Village. I know they've gone through some tough times with their Sebastopol kitchen being flooded last year, so I want to support them. However, I have to make a couple of suggestions: First, it is frustrating that none of the baked items are labeled or priced. One looks at the pastries in the display case, but doesn't know what they are or what they cost. Second, the bakery does not open at their stated opening time on weekends. I've been at least three times on a Saturday or Sunday, shortly after when they're supposed to open (7:00 on Saturday; and 8:00 on Sunday) and found them closed. read more

We get 2 so we always have one in the freezer for toast. The new Montgomery Village location is AWESOME and the food (soups/salads/sandwiches) is ALL really good. I recently had a wonderful lunch at the Village Bakery location in Montgomery Village, so I thought I'd try this location since it's in my neighborhood. There was plenty to choose from when we got there. My partner and I decide to split a scone and a brownie. Both were fresh and pretty tasty. I liked the cakey bottom layer of the brownie and the top layer had a nice chocolate flavor. The ginger scone was great too. Nice flavor and just how I like it, crisp outer layer, and tender inside. I was eyeing the fruit hand pies while there, I'll have to save them for another trip. read more
