First time here. I ordered a Lucky burger and my company ordered the chicken bacon wrap and calamari. If I would have seen the wrap prior I would have ordered that. Not that my burger was bad, that wrap looked delicious and I was told it is. This wrap was served with fries. My burger was cooked as requested, medium well, tender and juicy. What a pleasant surprise - we loved it! We came up to Waukegan for a show at the Genesee Theater and had time for dinner beforehand but hadn't made any reservations anywhere. We stopped in to Lucky Scottie in for a pre-show dinner and we were greeted quickly and seated soon thereafter. The service was amazing and the food was terrific. The calamari was absolutely delicious. LOVE that they have a pre-show menu so we were in and out quickly. We both got the burger special and it was delicious. I had a chocolate martini and my husband had a Manhattan - both drinks were perfect. The owner, David, is amazing. He's everywhere and never stops moving. His team is so professional and quick. The must all be exhausted at the end of the day. My husband and I were talking about how we don't come up to Waukegan for show because the drive from home (1+ hour) is such a drag, but we both agreed we'd come more often just to have dinner at Lucky Scottie beforehand. The owner has zero people skills - talking over me and taking zero responsibility for Lucky Scottie charging my group for tips two weeks after we were at the restaurant. The owners insistence that a server was down at a credit card company for two weeks makes zero sense. Help me understand why our food charge went through fine but tip did not...? I think someone was disorganized at Lucky Scotty and they thought it was okay to charge us all today leading to confusion. We all canceled our credit cards because no one at the restaurant could explain in a timely manner. When I did get owner on the phone, he talked over me, raising his voice, refused to apologize; then hung up. Classic machismo. Nobody likes it. I have never experienced a tip two weeks after a charge? I don't understand. Besides, zero decent vegetarian options, mediocre food, and it smelled like leaking gas in the restaurant. We're unable to review the food due to apparent operational challenges. We arrived around 6:15, an hour before we wanted to be at the theater for Eddie Izzard. We waited about 10 minutes for a table since we didn't have a reservation, which still would have been fine with prompt service. After being sat, we waited over 10 minutes more with no water or food & beverage orders taken. Two different servers promised to take our order but then walked past our table several times without saying anything more.
