This started out as one of the first bars in Asheboro. Went last night after not going for a few years. The drink specials are some of the best I've seen. $3.50 tequila sunrises and $3.50 house shots, to name a few. Many appetizers you can get for $5, which you can appreciate after a few tequila sunrises. Usually have live music on Friday and Saturday. $5 cover last night for people 21 and up, which was reasonable since the band was really good. Even though it was suppose to be strictly bar service after 11, we had multiple waitresses come by and check on us afterward, which was really nice. A group of about 16 college classmates recently gathered at Lucky's for a lunch time reunion. Cory and his staff warmly saw to all of our comfort and needs. This was a meeting of guys in their 70s. An area was set aside for us to visit and eat. Service was friendly and efficient. The server quickly took care of all orders and requests. The food was enjoyed by all. I was lured in by the 99 cent cheeseburger. I love a good road trip and drove 35 minutes to get here. I arrived just after 1130am and it wasn't too busy. The problem is there is just one server. I felt bad for the poor guy; he was really getting in the weeds. After sitting for about five minutes I was able to place my drink order and as soon as that came, I placed my order at 1140am. I had to use the bathroom and was not pleaseed to see that someone had really messed up the toilet not too long ago. I got out of there as quickly as possible. The ticket time on the food was fifteen minutes, which is a little long, especially at lunch. By noon the place was about full and the service was just getting slower. No drink refill. The burger was a little light. I would say it was definitely less than a 1/4 lb. and I ran out of burger well before toppings and bun. It was disappointing. But the worst was yet to come. Now I have to figure out how to pay the bill so I can leave. I went up and stood at the bar, but this guy was just too busy. It took a very long time but I finally got out of there at 1215pm. With all the promotion of this burger deal, you would think that maybe they would have another server. Overall it was a bad experience and I would not return. read more

In town on business and stopped in twice, once for a late lunch and once in the evening to listen to their live band. For lunch, they advertised as having the "worst burger in town". I had to try it and was not disappointed. The double bacon cheeseburger and homemade potato chips were excellent. For the late night, the beer was cold and reasonably priced. Their bartenders and wait staff were very friendly and prompt with their service. Although definitely a locals place, they welcomed this out-of-towner and made him feel welcome. I was a regular customer eating and going to have a few beers and listening to the bands and loving open mic night. This Friday changed all that. They over served a young man who then proceeded to not only gripe one of their employees and 2 customer. They told him not to come back but the very next night I turn around and he was back in there. I used to feel like the new owners cared about their bar, cared about their employees and customers. I no longer feel safe. I would never tell my single friends to go there because of what happened. When I asked the owner who told the guy not to come back in there why was he there- I was told it never happened and I was standing beside the two girls he touched. So adding insult to injury he called me a liar. I thought this was a cheers type bar. Now I see they are only about money and who cares who they over served and whether or not people feel safe. Definitely go early - before 7 pm, enjoy lunch and dinner but definitely avoid weekend nights because you may get more than you bargained for!! The holiday was the perfect time to visit. We received great service from Lindsey. I believe she was working by herself waiting all of the tables. The food was good. We had the fish sandwiches, with chips and onion rings. The fish was crispy but the cook left my cheese and was a little heavy handed on the mayo. The very kind lady said they had none and then proceeded to recommend places that did! Thanks to her we found a nice spot. A "dive bar" in a strip mall center, next to a Wal-Mart. So it feels like a dive bar, but it's not. It keeps the good qualities of a dive bar -- inexpensive menu items, cold, cheap beer, pool table -- while keeping out the negatives (bad food, dirty surroundings). Great burgers, homemade potato chips are amazing. Lots of fixins you can add the burgers for no extra cost. Recommend for a cold beer and good bar food. I was in Asheboro, NC on business from Atlanta. The locals recommended Lucky's. Maybe it's because there isn't any thing else close to this area but I would rather had stayed in my hotel room with a beer and some chips. Let me cut to the chase. I never tried Lucky's Burger-N-Tap burgers. Their burgers may have been the bee's knees but I did not get that far. At the request of my colleague Amy Redd and the locals, she and I went to Lucky's after work. Our work day began at 4 a.m. and we were able to get off work early. We ordered drinks. I had a beer or two, I think Heineken. Amy Redd had a mixed drink. Amy said her mixed drink lacked alcohol. So, she ordered vodka on the rocks, specifically Tito's Handmade. After the-not-so-tentative bartender served the drink, Amy advised that a cheap vodka had been put in the Tito's bottle. She was certain of this. I believe her. She knows her vodka. We later ordered a jalapeno poppers, fried mushrooms and pickles which all sucked. the coating fell out and it was tasteless. And, that where my visit ended.... I couldn't take anymore. I went back to my hotel room, watched some court show, took a nap and did it all over again the next day. No recommending. Unless, of course, you live here AND cannot escape AND have a hankering for awful appetizers, cheap vodka AND sub-standard service. read more

Mom and I went here on a whim after being at the Zoo for like 4.5 hours. It's such a nice and laid back environment. One of those little bars that you know the locals are regulars and have good relationships with the staff. Food was great! We got mozzarella sticks and boneless wings tossed in their house sauce. AMAZING. Perfect level of spicy and sweet. I did find that they had way too many ads plastering the walls though... it takes away from the charm a bit. read more
