Poblano Chicken with side of fries and brown gravy and sweet potatoes

If I could leave a one word review, it would be delicious. This is a very cute 50s diner vibe place but the food is great. I'm from the East Coast so we love brown gravy on our french fries and I haven't had any since I left New York. I saw a photos in the Yelp reviews showing brown gravy on chicken dishes so I ordered a side of brown gravy for my fries. It blew me away. It was absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the sweet potato cubes were delicious.

It's SAD AF that this ONE bartender ruins the experience of LUCKY's as we have experienced it years prior. Listen, my company Speak & Center is ALL about making meditation and mental health awareness a priority... and more approachable... But HAVING BEEN A BARTENDER, to meet one that only seems to smile as SINGLE MEN- In a QUEER/Lgbt neighborhood is a Huge DISSERVICE to the community imo. Anyway we quickly realized she was not interested in "Hi how are you?" After 3 minutes of ignoring me with only one other customer remaining... do better GIRL. Jesus.

Not a great photo, but it was a very tasty BLT.

Really neat place. The building fits the 50s diner feel, clearly dating to the actual time (I asked, and originally it was a music store, then a deli, and 30 years ago, it became Lucky's). I got the BLT, but it also included avacado, so it SHOULD be called the BALT, hehe. It was very good, crunchy and fresh. Would come back anytime.

Best diner in Dallas. OG farm to table food venue. Casual atmosphere with full bar. Great mimosas and bloodys Bobby always take excellent care of us at the bar counter but today we sat in a booth and we felt just as welcome there. The food is always fresh, well portioned and super tasty. They serve the best waffles in town but they also serve lunch all day so I pretty much have had all the sandwiches and burgers and I can honestly say I like them all My fave is called the sleezieat cheesiest and it goes great with French fries and their DELICIOUS brown gravy IT gets pretty busy on weekends so I say to go early Street parking as well as a small lot behind the building Highly highly recommend

My daughter picked since it was her 18th birthday. Little bit of a drive on a Tuesday during rush hour but boy oh boy is it worth it. It was our first time here and we will be back. Great service, wonderful staff, amazing food, good prices with farm to table style food. We waddled out to the car after this meal!! Epic!

Another new spot we tried out while in Dallas, the food was seasoned well, the service was superb despite it being busy they were quick and attentive to bringing our food refilling our drinks and they offered some different specialty items, everything is from local farmers (definitely a plus) ..The ambiance is relaxing and quite quaint paying detail to the cleanliness. We will definitely be back

The food was excellent and served promptly Service was quick, respectful, and timely The ambiance was charged and bubbly. It has that old-fashioned dinner feel with a touch of a new-generation vibe. It's a cool spot to try with friends on a Sunday afternoon.

Since moving to the neighborhood I've passed my Lucky's so many times and made a note to stop in. So while out for a walk, my partner and I decided to check out it. We arrived around 12:30 and there were a few groups waiting. We put our name on the list and were called about 15 mins later. It's a cool, neighborhood diner with eclectic led lights and tidbits of patronage and community and throughout. The lady who greeted us was nice and lead us to a booth where our waiter; a friendly, upbeat older gentleman with a cool gray mustache. He offered us water, coffee and mimosas while we looked over the menu. My partner ordered coffee and of course a carafe of mimosa for me (well us lol). You also get a complimentary basket of assorted bread while you wait. We both ordered traditional breakfasts: mine with bacon and potatoes. Hers with patty sausage and cheese grits. Both were plentiful and cooked well. All in all, a great cozy experience at Lucky's and well definitely stop in again!

Pot roast, sauteed spinach and mimosa
    Everlong_angelica M.

I love the retro diner atmosphere. The pot roast was the closest to homemade made I have had at any restaurant. I added a side of spinach and it was a great compliment. Bf got the migas and liked it. They also have a full bar We got a carafe of og mimosa. Friendly and attentive service. Food came out quick and they were pretty busy. Overall great experience, highly recommend. Forgot to add... great music (all types spanning many decades) playing at a low, unobtrusive volume. Loved it

Chicken Fried Steak, okra, corn and bread.

If you are looking for some good ol comfort food, Lucky's Cafe is just the place. They serve breakfast all day too! Today I had the special, which was chicken fried steak with two sides. Not only was the chicken fried steak good, but the fried okra and creamed corn was too. Before my meal was ready, my waitress brought biscuits and cornbread to the table. Bonus points (stars) for having honey on the table for the hot biscuits!! Decorated to resemble an old cafe, it will have you feeling like you have stepped back in time. Lucky's Cafe is a go to place in Dallas. Go get Full

I enjoyed the herby sauce on the chips, but wished it was served on the side! Mains: English Pea & Potato Pierogi, Mac and Cheese, and Vegetable Pasta - they were very nice to make a vegetarian pasta dish for us, and it was delicious! The tomato sauce was flavorful. Silly ole me asked if onion cups could be provided and the resturant obliged, thank-you! Now for the taste test. The shrimp and pork dumplings were well packed with the protein. They dressed it well in sauces too! As I placed my dumpling in the onion cup i can say the sharpness of the onion meshed well. The crunch also brought another level texture to a soft dumpling. Now this is usually done with soup dumplings but when I say its a trend it ended diverting from the original post. Regardless, the restaurantet let me be silly and I appreciated it! Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K

The avocado toast comes with smoked salmon, which I do like, but I'm more of a basic avocado toast person. It also has a little pico de gallo and red pepper flakes! The breakfast sandwich is 2 over easy eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, and tomato on sourdough (I subbed gluten free bread and added avocado) with a side of breakfast potatoes. Enjoy!

However they were attentive and the overall ambiance was nice and upbeat for a brunch place. Food wise, everything here was average. Nothing stood out as something I absolutely would come back for. We got two Benedict's that were not very warm and has hollandaise/gravy that was not very flavorful but the home fries were seasoned and fried well. The French toast was quite good but was very obviously put in the microwave right before serving with a steaming hot center. The best part was the blueberry kale salad which had a nice vinaigrette and the cashews were a nice touch. Overall, with the number of brunch spots in Dallas I would reserve halcyon for study/coffee spot as opposed to a must try weekend brunch.

Ended up here after a longgg walk on Katy Trail with my three dogs. I was looking for a…read moredog-friendly spot to grab a drink and relax, and Knox Bistro's covered patio was exactly what I needed. Arrived pretty late, so the kitchen and dessert service had already closed. I was really hoping to try the sticky toffee cake but that'll have to wait until next time. Instead, I tried the Hibiscus Paloma mocktail with grapefruit, lime, and Topo Chico, which was incredibly refreshing after being outside. The Garden soirée was also excellent and refreshing. The NBA game was on, and the whole place was really into it (including the staff) which made for a fun atmosphere. Service took a little longer than usual, but given the energy in the room, I honestly didn't mind. The covered patio was comfortable, dog-friendly, and a great place to unwind.

I've had many wonderful meals at Knox Bistro, so my boyfriend and I were really looking forward to…read morea delicious, relaxing evening. The night started beautifully--we enjoyed espresso martinis at the bar and were then seated at one of our favorite tables. We ordered a bottle of wine and caviar and were settling in to plan the rest of our meal when the experience took a turn. A tween/teen birthday party was seated in the private room. At first, we assumed the noise was just initial excitement and would settle after a few minutes. The parents of the birthday girl were seated nearby, and when the mother got up, we expected she might ask the girls to lower their volume. Unfortunately, the opposite happened--she brought the group out into the main dining room for photos, where the noise level became even more disruptive. Another couple seated near us--at what is typically a very desirable table--lasted no more than five minutes before asking to be moved outside. Shortly after, a manager approached the private room. We anticipated they would address the noise, but instead, they greeted the party warmly and thanked them for being there, without making any effort to manage the disruption. After so many consistently great experiences, it was honestly shocking. We truly felt as though we were being punked. My boyfriend and I both have children and enjoy bringing them to nice restaurants, but part of that experience includes ensuring they understand and respect the environment. When that standard isn't upheld--especially with no support from management--it significantly detracts from the experience for everyone else.
