We go to Lucky's at least once every couple of weeks and always request Chris as our server. He's amazing and knows our last order ever time. The food is always freshly made and top notch and even though it's a just a tad more expensive than I would have liked for breakfast it was worth it. There breakfast is really good. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs, potatoes, and biscuits. It was way to much food, but it was really good. The only thing I didn't like were the biscuits....strange flavor I thought. Everyone I was with did really like their food and the service is good. I liked this place better than most other breakfast places because I noticed how clean it was....some greasy whole in the wall breakfast places can have good food, but most are dirty or at I least I think they are....like Bubba's for instance. read more

Here's a good restaurant with good waiters & waitresses, and good food. Their biscuits are good but become instantly great once you drizzle a little bit of honey on them, (or a lot of honey!). I had the Sleaziest, Cheesiest, Grilled Cheese In Town and it was indeed the sleaziest and the cheesiest. It's worth a try if you're hungry. read more

Lucky's is exactly what I think of when I think of a diner and even complete with checkered flooring. The host was very welcoming and personable and we were sat immediately even though they were clearly busy. Our server was extremely attentive and our drinks and food were out quickly. Be sure to order the pancakes if you are in for breakfast or brunch. Some of the best I have had. If you are going on a week day try to get in early before the crowd or you might end up waiting a bit. But really the service is so good the wait is not long. read more

Hubby and I decided to try it out. First off I was surprised the waiting list was not long... maybe 10mins. I ordered chicken and waffles and side of eggs: chicken and waffles were ok nothing exciting. Jonathan's in Oak Cliff is way better. My husband ordered pancakes side of bacon and a side of potatoes. The pancakes were excellent. Light and fluffy almost better than All Good Cafe and we love eating there. Bacon and potatoes were delicious as well. Not taking it off the list just yet. Had a casual lunch at Lucky's! Our waiter was very kind, he seated us quickly and asked for our orders efficiency. We got biscuits and cornbread as an appetizer, and breakfast is served all day. I ordered the garden burger, which is a veggie burger, but the best part of my meal was the french fries! They were so good! The food came out quickly also. Parking around Lucky's is hard, but I found a 30 minute parking spot not too far away. I would recommend to anyone who wants a quick lunch at a casual diner. read more

It's a great place to go for people watching. It's usually super crowded on the weekends. To be the food is average, but lots of people seem to go gaga over it, so I am in the minority. It's decent though and its a super fun place to go once in a while. read more

The best thing here were the fried mushrooms. If you've read any of my other reviews, you would know I have a mushroom kink fetish. heh. The server had me waiting for any sort of refils and even snapped at my when he was taking my partners order. I asked for a refil and he replied, " can i at least get his order?" . I simply stated that i had been waiting awhile. Johns cafe and diner still take the cake. This place was OK, but don't fool people with waiters if WE have to wait. read more

I have been coming to Lucky's for years. The service is wonderful and all of the guys know your name. Two weeks ago, I would have hands down given them 5 stars. Unfortunately, corporate changed the entire menu. The waffles are no longer soft, pancakes- well just aren't the Lucky's traditional, and many items are organic and gluten free. When I asked the corporate lady about the reasoning behind the change her response was "we wanted to make this a fresh diner". This is totally fine... But not for a diner! There is Cosmic cafe, Dream Cafe, Villa-O, and plenty other places for this kind of food. It does not belong in a diner. Sadly, I'm likely going to have to find me a new breakfast spot, with traditional home town food. read more

Always a great spot for a weekend brunch. A small wait, but well worth it, they even give you coffee while you wait in the diner style restaurant. Is rating the service only it would be 5 stars. Chicken from previous visit was poor quality. Sandwich was on different bread than what menu stated. Long kitchen wait and only 2 tables. Claiming quality (branding ingredients listed) and farm to table but fries were only frozen retail shoestring. Seems like a gimmick and real local ingredient serving restaurants do not forsake quality and taste. They need get this solved quickly and version 19 is still not working. read more

Quaint and quiet dinner on a Sunday evening. Service was fast and excellent. Fish and chips were flaky, hot and fresh. Delicious. Hubby had a huge, crispy, tender chicken fried steak with onion rings and roasted sweet potatoes. The meal came with biscuits and cornbread muffins. I can't think of anything I did not like about this place. We went for breakfast a few Sundays ago, that morning that it was snowing. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff and told that it would be around 10 minutes. We were a bit reluctant to stick around because it seemed that there were 20 people ahead of us waiting for table. We were assured that it would only be a few minutes and that they had complimentary coffee at the end of the bar (nice touch). It was less than a 10 minute wait. We both had just basic breakfast fare; eggs, biscuits, potatoes, bacon, and coffee. We asked the server for some hot sauce for our eggs and he brought us some house-made salsa. It was a great touch. Everything was top quality and cooked to order. We got out of there for around $20. The service was great and the ambiance is that of an old time diner. We live in the neighborhood and will be going back soon. read more

My wife and I frequent Lucky's for lunch during the work week. Everyone that works there is so nice. Most everything we have had there is good. My favorite is the grilled meatloaf with squash casserole and onion rings. The red sauce for the meat loaf has a slightly sweet taste with large chunks of onion and bell pepper for crunch. The meat is seasoned quite well. The corn bread and biscuits you are given before your meal are pretty consistent and good, but there have been a few times the biscuits tasted like they had been sitting for a while though. The art pieces on the walls are from local artists and are for sale. The people watching here is another fun thing to do on your lunch break:-) read more

Love this diner. I'm always a fan of diners in general. Their meatloaf and Corn Bread was really good. Think of it as a smaller version of Black Eyed Pea. One star off because the last waitress that was there was really rude to us. Shes usually a regular employee and I did not understand why she was snappy with us. Im usually nice to my service people as long as the respect is there. She has served us before with no complaints so Im guessing this time she had a bad day? Really friendly staff and great service. I love that you get unlimited biscuits and cornbread before your meal comes out. I only had the biscuits and they were awesome! I had chicken fried chicken, whipped potatoes and creamed corn. All of it was really great - the chicken was kind of dry but still decent. Atmosphere was really great - definitely very diner-y... But they have a full bar which is kind of unusual for a diner. Can't wait to give this place another try. read more

A friend and I stopped by Lucky's Cafe for lunch Saturday December 10th. The cafe was busy but we were seated quickly. Carmen was our waitress and she was extremely helpful and provided excellent service. We ordered the Get Lucky Club. (In-house roasted turkey breast, brazos valley white cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, lemon aioli and tomato on jalapeño cheddar bread.) The sandwich was greasy and bland. The turkey was very very dry and might have been leftovers from Thanksgiving. I love crispy bacon but the bacon in the club sandwich was very over cooked. We both were disappointed in our selection. I do not recommend the Get Lucky Club. read more

I've driven past this place many times, and finally decided to stop in for breakfast on Saturday. Unlike many Dallas breakfast options, this one is not Latin inspired. Lucky's has an old school diner look, fast and friendly service, and solid food. The omelet and biscuits were both very good. I recommend this for anyone seeking standard breakfast fair. When we went it wasn't busy, but it did have a very Oak Lawn crowd. Also, I would note that the side of tomato option is just sliced, uncooked tomatoes. One of my last times eating as a southern diner partaker, as I am now trying to eat organic, so anyways- It is/was the best biscuit I had ever in a diner. The atmosphere is eclectic and fun. Nice diner atmosphere. Service was nice. The Migas were not flavorful even with salsa, salt, and pepper. The chicken and waffles looked juicy and delicious. I will come back to try a different dish. read more

This place is great place for a quick and cheap meal. I love the chicken fingers. It is hard to find places to eat with a variety of vegatables, but this place has it all. The servers are always friendly and attentive. My only criticism is the parking is limited. if you are in the area, always choose this place over that dumpy Snookie's across the street. read more

My husband and I were brave and rode our bikes up from South Oak Cliff to Luckys this morning. We were on a mission to eat some yummy biscuits with honey that our friend gave to us from his farm.
