Such great diner ambience because it has actual history a family story, not to mention handed down recipes. Original owners were Greek, so there's a gyro on the menu and even an omlette with gyro meat inside. I tried that and it was amazing. Hash browns were very good as well. Companions had chicken fried chicken and a French dip. Both got good reviews. We all shared a piece of coconut cream pie, which was delicious. We had an excellent brunch here on July 4th! It was packed, but we got seated after a 15 min wait and service was great despite how busy it was. I also love all the sauces, syrups, and jams at each table. We got the blueberry waffle, and I loved the waffle but did not like the blueberry sauce, I wish it had real blueberries instead. Take a step back in time to the early 1950's at the Original Market Diner. While the decor fits the era this place was built and adds to the ambiance of the place, the prices are far from those of the 1950's. Example, just under $17.00 for an omelette! The food was just ok, not great and certainly not bad. I ordered a Ham & Cheese Omelette that came with Hash Browns and Biscuits and Gravy. We also tried the Pancakes. I enjoyed the light and fluffy biscuits and the hashed browns the most. My grandma used to say "some pancakes need a little more syrup than others". These were pancakes that needed extra syrup! We came here after day one of martial arts state finals. It was right next to our hotel. Figured why not? Overall our experience was great. First the place felt like a part out of a horror film. The service was ok. I think it's because we went right before they closed, and we felt a bit rushed. We kept it simple, and just had burgers and the jalapeño mozzarella sticks. Let's start with the appetizer. They were actually good. They mixed the jalapeño flavor into the breading. You can see the jalapeño on the outside of the sticks! Great idea and it works! Wish they were actually spicy. Still good! He had the bacon cheeseburger, and I had the jalapeño cheeseburger. The buns were great, the beef could've used more seasoning. They give you tons of fries! Where they were creative with the mozzarella sticks, my jalapeño burger was just a burger with pickled Jalapeño slices from a can thrown on top. Not creative at all, and a little disappointing. Like a reach to charge more. We had dessert, hard not too when you are sitting next to the case. We asked for a recommendation and were told carrot cake and banana cream pie. They were both great, but the carrot cake was by far better. Not too sweet, not too much carrot. Just right. The other pie was just ok. Also, a HUGE plus is they had stevia at the table! My friend and I came to Dallas for a concert the night before. We were searching up places to eat when we checked out of our hotel. We say that Original Market Diner was a half a mile down from where we were. So we decided to head there. When we first walked in, I was greeted with the buzzing conversations from the customers and the waiters taking orders. Although the diner was busy, as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and sat down. Our waiter, Laura, came a minute later. She warmly greeted us and gave us time to look over the menu. She was even went out of her way to get us warm syrup for our waffles. It was nice to be in a real diner and not today's mock up, franchise breakfast places. Although the diner was small, it was not uncomfortable, it actually felt warm and welcoming. I enjoyed my meal here and would return with more friends once I head back to Dallas this fall. read more

Came on a Sunday at 11am. I had to wait maybe 3 minutes before I was seated. This place is way bigger than it seems, and there is alot of hustle and bustle within the booths and stalls. My server was going above and beyond, checking in on us every so often and giving us drinks to go when we didnt ask for them. She was probably working 6+ tables so I was quite impressed. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese. It also came with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. I thought it was OK, but wasnt as amazing I was hoping. I feel the sausage could have had more browning or been thicker. The sandwich didnt pop as much in flavor as I would have hoped. My girlfriend got the pork chops with an egg. The pork chops were actually really good! They must be swimming in butter before they throw them on the griddle with the way they looked and tasted. I will say after 15 minutes, the pork chops end up pretty dry on the last bites, so dont linger when eating these. They serve hashbrowns like a giant casserole slab, which was fine since there was still some charred texture on the outside. I didnt think I would ever come here, because it looked like typical, mediocre diner food. While I wasnt off with it being typical diner food, I thought that for most of the food they serve, they do a fairly good job. If you order the right stuff, and eat it within 10 minutes, this is a traditional american diner thats enjoyable when you dont want anything fancy and youre in this particular area. read more

The original part of the diner only has a counter and just a few booths and tables but it's so cute! Our waitress obviously is a long term employee who was knowledgeable, friendly and fast. Local classic, I've lived within walking distance of this diner for the longest time, but only recently ventured in. Walking in, you feel the classic diner vibe. A mix of booths, tables, and the kitchen side bar. Low indoor lighting but plenty of windows allowing natural light in. The location has plenty of foot traffic but no wait. There's a melodic comfort hearing the kitchen, and others conversing. It's an inviting place. My waitress was very attentive and friendly. The chicken dumpling was flavorful for a dumpling. The chicken and dumpling came with corn bread and yeast rolls. The corn bread was a little dry but the yeast rolls were on point. Went here for lunch for the first time with my grandparents this week. I haven't been to a diner in forever and it felt like the perfect place to take my grandparents. It was so cute inside! Just what I was hoping for. They decorated for Christmas which was a nice surprise. The service was okay, our waitress didn't say much to us. She came by a few times asking if we needed anything but personality wise was pretty cold. Food was yummy, and a great portion!! Their lunch menu was a great deal price wise. You get a lot of food for a very reasonable price. I would say the feed needed a ton of seasoning, and I added a ton of salt, but it was still good.
