This is by far the best pizza I've had in the area. I almost always get toppings on my pizza, but this place is so good it is probably the only place where I consistently just order plain oh, because it's good enough with nothing on it. I am from Philadelphia, and in that area we have very similar pizza to New York style pizza, so that is my favorite style. This place has that nailed. Highly recommend. read more

I had a strong pizza craving and I didn't feel like driving too far. My buddy Kate M. had written a review about Lucky's Pizza awhile back and I noticed they were close (still not sure if they are owned by the same folks or not) by so I decided to give them a try. I called up and placed my order for a Large Cheese Pizza. They don't ask for your name or phone number, instead they give you a number and tell you how long it will be. I was told I was #7 and that it would be 15 minutes. I drove on down, walked inside, paid the lady my money and took my pizza to go. Friendly folks working there. Now onto the pizza.............. Large Cheese Pizza ($12.95)- This thing was nice and big. The first thing I noticed was that it had a ton of cheese on it. It also had a little "sheen" to it. That can be bad sometimes if the pizza is too greasy. This was not the case here. No drips of grease anywhere to be found. I picked up my first slice and noticed that it was just a tad droopy. I bit in though and was pleasantly Surprise(d) Arizona.....bwahahaha... The taste was great. Good cheese, good sauce, decent crust. Next time I come back, I will ask them to cook it well done. If the cheese had a little brown on it and the crust had just a tad bit of a "crisp", this pizza would have been fantastic! It was good as is, but could be taken to another level with an extra few minutes in the oven. This pizza is one of those types that does get better the more you eat though. First slice I liked, second slice I ate faster, third slice I started to pick up little subtleties that convinced me it was a pretty darn good pizza. Is it comparable to my favorite, Grimaldis? Nope. Is it way better than any chain type place? Yep! Will I come back because its a good value, its a local business, it tasted pretty good and its close to my house? Definitely! They have multiple specials going on at all times plus they have sandwiches, wings and appetizers. They make a Sicilian type pizza too that I definitely want to try out. We have eaten at Lucky's numerous times and have always been pleased. But tonight was entirely different. We weren't comfortable eating indoors especially when many patrons weren't wearing masks. So we went in to order at 5:12 pm. Pizza, wings and breaded zucchini sticks. We were told they would bring it out to our red car parked right outside the front door. We recognized they were busy with lots of takeout so we remained patient. But after waiting an hour, we went in to check on how much longer or did our order get overlooked. Unfortunately, it was sitting on top of the pizza oven staying warm.. No effort was made to bring our order out to our car as promised. Our order wasn't warm and because all our ordered items were closed up, the food was steamed which resulted in soggy pizza and zucchini sticks and were basically inedible. The wings were only somewhat warm but still edible. We expected a certain level of service we have previously received here. Today it was unacceptable. read more

Been here twice. Not a fan. First time was good. Had the 2 slice pizza and drink combo for $4.00 Tonight we had pizza and wings. Wings are super hot, for medium. Not too happy about that. Never had a bad experience at Lucky's for the 5 years we have been going there, as a native NY'er we love it there! But today's pizza was a shocker when I got home and opened the box... We've passed by many times and have wanted to try. Being from the East Coast, I'm really picky with my pizza. We ordered a large specialty Sicilian pizza. It was PACKED with a ton of toppings. When I lifted the box off the counter, it felt like it weighed 5 pounds. It was at least 1 1/2" high... impressive! Taste... the toppings were delicious and so was the crust. My wife and I decided to give Lucky's Pizza a try tonight though we didn't have a pizza. I had the manicotti and you wife had the calzone. The manicotti came with a salad that was uninspired but was very fresh with crisp lettuce. The manicotti itself was a very large portion with a tasty marinara sauce. My wife's calzone was enormous! Light, flaky crust and filled with meat and cheeses with a tomato marinara sauce on the side. There aren't a lot of places where you can get a complete and very filling meal for 2 at a price under $20.00. Definitely worth a return engagement to try out their pizza. read more

The family of Lucky's pizza is great and there are several locations in the west valley and each one is owned and operated by a family member. Cousin, uncle, brother, Etc. :) It's a great thing. There pizza has a great thin crust with fresh toppings. They get there sausage locally and cook it up fresh in store and then slice it thin on the slicer. no precooked or packaged crap. Real fresh Italian Sausage. It rocks. I highly recommend trying it. The wings have a great sauce and they come out crispy and juicy. They don't disappoint. I am convinced that 75% of these reviews were bought and paid for. It was the reviews that got me to give Lucky's a try. Yikes where do I begin! The pizzas arrived nearly cold even though Slice delivered it in a timely manner. The crust was limp and soggy. It tasted very much like a combination of styrofoam and cardboard. You can't hold a slice, the edge of crust was too stiff to fold the slice while the center was a gloopy, soupy mess. The broccoli pizza... gross! They blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water and toss them on the pizza wet and uncooked. Once you manage to get the soggy mess up to your mouth and take a bite you are met with mushy crust and a nearly raw piece of broccoli. What a texture clash. Their wings came with the bag soaked and spilled out all over my couch. I thought maybe they went hard with the sauce. Nope. These tiny little wings were petrified wood, unable to be bitten through and that wasn't sauce... that was grease and my couch is destroyed. The bag wasn't just soaked, the grease came pouring out of the actual container also as if someone ladled cooking grease inside as the sauce. We actually could not tell if sauce was even used. Basically $70 later and we threw it all in the trash. It was horrible. Their dough recipe whatever it is... is horrid. They have clearly no idea how to even prepare a pizza. I can't believe a pizza place like this has managed to stay in business and get the positive reviews they do. Either they have been paid for or everyone in surprise is drunk and needs to sleep it off. I will never ever buy this trash again. Pics included! Save yourself! read more

I looked up delivery pizza on Yelp. Among the many places, Lucky's Pizza was listed. It is relatively close to where I was staying and has at least one good review, and so I called. The phone was curtly answered, and I identified myself. I then asked for an order to be delivered. The immediate reply was "we don't delivery, buddy"! I was shocked. I then asked this person what he just said? He repeated it. I asked if he worked there or was an owner or manager? He said he worked there. I then said that "you never speak to a customer in that way". His reply: "Do you think I give a shit"?! He then hung up. Rest assured that if this is the kind of attitude that is tolerated by management, the quality and likely the safety, of their food is highly questionable. read more

Always saw this place and didn't give it much thought. But after talking to a dear friend, I decided to give it a try. So happy I did. They have a great lunch special; 2 large pieces of pizza and a drink for less than $7! Their pizza crust is perfectly thin and their red sauce is just right. The cheese to sauce ratio is a great balance. The second time I stopped in I brought my wife. We had the antipasto salad and a large pizza with all the meats. Again the quality of the food was great and so was the price. We didn't buy sodas but our dinner was under $30. Yes there were leftovers that heated up real nice and was just as good if not better the day after. The 3rd visit I ordered for pick up and brought it home. The quality of the food has remained consistent each time I've visited. They have a nice-sized eating room reminiscent of a typical pizza parlor. I like this place because of the vibe. Looks like a family-owned restaurant just making really good food for a fair price. They have a large menu with other Italian dishes but I have yet to try those. Definitely will try the baked ziti on my next visit. I've become a regular here and have yet to find a better place for Italian food. read more

I have tried spaghetti at other restaurants in Surprise and they didn't even come close to how good Lucky's spaghetti dinner is. First time here and the food is bomb! I, myself, am allergic to dairy. (So why go to a pizza restaurant, right?!) I usually order a pizza with all the toppings except the cheese. There is parmesan in their pizza sauce, so they recommended to get a pizza with the marinara sauce used for the pasta. It was soooo good! My bf got a regular pizza with all the good stuff I can't have, and wings, and loved his food as well. Also, I have to say, I really love how family oriented the staff is, working together running a family business. Reminds me of home.
