Tried this place for the first time. Was not impressed. The pizza seemed to be underdone and there was way too much sauce.

That's basically a daily period where they clean their coal ovens and can't sell pizza. Womp womp. Not today though! We were seated quickly and given a seat right near the oven, so we got to watch the pizzas being whipped up. We started our meal with the strawberry spinach salad. It was really good and had a nice dressing on it. Decidedly the perfect salad for summer. For our pizza, we had the Brooklyn Bridge with extra cheese. Despite having visited Grimaldi's many times in the past, I had never tried this pizza. I loved it! I would consider the extra cheese to be imperative on any pizza here as they can be kind of skimpy on the cheese.

We showed up around 4:30 pm on a Monday without checking ahead, and the place didn't appear to be busy. The hostesses put us on the waitlist, and we ended up hanging out for about 20-25 minutes before getting seated. They have a decent bar area and some outdoor patio space, so it's not miserable, but it dragged on longer than expected for a casual pizza night. Once we finally sat down, though, the pizza made it worth it. We ordered 2 large sausage pizzas. The crust was thin, crispy, and perfectly charred from the coal oven, super authentic New York style vibes. The sauce had great flavor, cheese was fresh and stretchy, and the toppings weren't skimpy. Everything tasted super fresh, and the portions are generous. Service was friendly once we were in, and the atmosphere is cozy with that old-school pizzeria feel. Think NYC meets RatPack. The prices are reasonable for what you get. Would I go back? Yeah, the pizza is that good. But next time, I'll plan better to avoid the long wait or maybe do takeout. If you're in the area and don't mind a potential line, definitely worth it for real-deal pizza.

It came with grilled ciabatta, arugula, shaved red onion, and a Calabrian vinaigrette. The burrata was incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the tomatoes, while the crunchy ciabatta added a wonderful contrast in texture. My husband chose the Sicilian meatballs, which were served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and grana padano, also a very solid dish. For our entrees, we had the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza and the strozzapreti, a pasta dish with herb-roasted chicken, mushroom, spinach, parmesan cream, truffle, and pine nuts). Both were fantastic! The pizza nailed that sweet and savory flavor profile, and the crust was absolutely perfect. The strozzapreti was also delicious -- rich, creamy, and packed with mushroom and truffle flavor. Last time we visited the North Italia Phoenix location, the pasta was a bit too soft and lacked that proper al dente bite, but this time it was cooked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the desserts were a letdown. We tried the hazelnut torta and the tiramisu, but both were overwhelmingly sweet. The tiramisu tasted soggy, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time instead of being freshly made, and the chocolate balls on top felt unnecessary and cheapened the dish. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag. Somehow our desserts were brought out before we had even finished our entrees. As a result, the ice cream on top of the hazelnut torta just sat there melting by the time we were ready for it. It made the end of the meal feel rushed, like they were trying to turn the table over quickly.

You order at the counter, and they bring the food to you. The service is great, and the paninis are amazing. I love their pizzas too, but the paninis really steal the show. My favorite is the Piccante. The mild, creamy cheese paired with sweet caramelized onions and spicy salami creates the perfect balance of flavor. I highly recommend checking it out. It is so worth it.

The staff claimed they didn't receive it but door dash adamantly stated it was cancelled by the restaurant and they could see it on their end- I emailed about this and no response. Tonight we called ahead and asked how late they took to go orders And they told us 830. We called at 815 to place an order and they told us their kitchen was closed. Same person we spoke to 1 hour prior. We called ahead to make sure to plan our dinner time. I consider this poor service now that it's happened twice and I felt the first time we were lied to and it was never addressed. Food can be great but if customer service is bad, it makes the overall experience poor. Very disappointing - as we love the restaurant and we live right in this neighborhood and love supporting our local businesses.
