This is definitely a little hidden gem in the NE and I'm so glad we tried it. I eventually realized this is the famous Lucys but their NE location (duh me). We wanted some breakfast and they delivered. The staff was fast and attentive and the food came out nice and hot. They served us chips and salsa and a little bowl of fideo (soup) before our meal (I thought it was odd since it was breakfast but then again why not). The prices are so reasonably priced, wish I would have gotten a menu pic. They even have a mini breakfast for like $4.99 that I'm very intrigued to order next time. Give them a try and support local!

I swear I am failing as a Yelper... I have come to this place so many times and yet this is my first time checking in and giving it a review. Sad Face. Two words. Taco Tuesday. I think I am obsessed with tacos lately, like, seriously. I usually eat chilaquiles when I come to Lucy's but since it is taco Tuesday I had to carry the tradition on. So I am here waiting for my chicken tacos. Yes... I recently began eating chicken again and so far it's been an ok journey. I am pretty confident that my tacos are going to be amazing. Lucy's isn't fancy, it isn't big. But the artwork on the walls is for sale and I think they are all local artists. Regardless, the food is good and cheap. There are three tables that only seat two people and six tables that seat four and there have been times I've come in and there were no seats available. Annnnd the tacos were great!!! This place uses yellow corn tortillas and the flavor was amazing. I could just eat the tortilla and be happy . The salsa verde added the right amount of heat that I like and the masa on the tamale was flavorful. I will definitely be back to give something else on the menu a try!

One of the first restaurant I had since uprooting my life here in Texas. Came here on a Tuesday afternoon. It is a small parking but I do not think it'll be problem. Food was delicious. My cousin ordered Fajitas and I had the flauta plate. It was delicious. It was very affordable. I am from LA and Mexican food was sooooo good then. This place is up to par with my tastes. It is a small place... maybe about 10 tables. Great service! read more

First off, no matter who you are, you will be greeted almost immediately with a warm smile. The servers, and the rest of the staff are extremely friendly and made us feel right at home. Our drinks came out immediately and our food shortly after. The food was prompt and delicious. They periodically checked on us to make sure everything was to our liking. They have a vast array of different menu options that will definitely satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. We will definitely be back! read more

We have a full house over here, and food came out greasy and tasting great.The owner made it a awesome experience as he buzzed like a bee to each table starting chapter to keep the home feeling. Recommend Lucy's north to everyone who wants to feel like a personalized visit. Fabulous! read more

Read some good reviews on Yelp and love Mexican food so thought I should I try it. Was very unimpressed. Ordered nachos and carnitas. Carinitas had a good flavor but I had more onions on the plate than meat. Nacho were an absolute disappointment. Although a large quantity, the quality was poor. Had nacho cheese instead of real cheese, an entire tomato to include the stem part had been cut up and thrown on top to fill the plate in large salad like pieces. Didn't even have any type of salsa on it. Needless to say, I had some but threw more than I ate away. I could have received the same quality at a 7-11 for way less. I will say the tortillas appeared to be home style and were very good. read more

Great place for good quality Mexican food. Stopped on our way to San Diego and had to stop on the way back. We did take out both times. Food is excellent both as to quality and quantity. For the price you can not do better. Take your choice tacos, burritos or enchiladas all are delicious. read more

Delightfully delicious Mexican food with a little Tex-mex flare. The salsa was spicy and addicting, the chips were perfectly crunchy and they even offer a free cup of soup while you wait for your meal. This is a great causal restaurant with excellent prices and service. Stop by for a bite. You won't be disappointed. read more

Lucy's is a small diner that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. after sitting down and talking with the waitress, my friend and I Said "this is our new place". The place you meet weekly, where they know your name, and the food is great! I had a taco salad and it was SO yummy. My friend had the BLT and said it was one of the best she has ever had. Love this place! So do my parents. Often go there after dropping off the kids at school. Portions are great and prices are very fair. Staff is super friendly. The complimentary fideo is delish. Lucy's is delicious! They're service is fast and friendly and the food is always fresh and so good! For lunch I recommend their tortas, it's a big portion too especially for the price. Their menudo is great and my husband is a big fan of their chilangas. read more

If you're looking for that home cooked meal...here it is! You order and when you least expect it BAM homemade fideo as an appetizer besides tostada's and salsa. My daughter can live off the fideo alone instead of the actual plate order. read more

What a great place! Food is great...without question. Although, it's the intangibles that keep me coming back to this place. I am not a local, but have lived here for almost a year. Superb, down home friendly staff that serves home cooked quality food at reasonable prices. SKIP ALL THE CHAIN RESTAURANTS and all the horrible service and huge crowds. Lucy's has amazing breakfast. Also...the salsa is off the chain delicious. Lucy's just makes me feel good walking in the door. I've eaten here about a dozen times now and have never been left without a fully satisfied stomach and a smile on my face. THANKS LUCY's NORTH ;) read more

We always enjoy our to go orders from Lucy's. They are always very fast and super tasty. We often get burritos, but sometimes I'll also go for the red enchiladas. That's about the extent of my options due to my vegetarian preferences, but my fiancé has gotten the machaca before and he loved it. read more

Had the chile relleno plate with beans and rice. If you never had it home made then you will enjoy the plate. A bit too much on the sauce and it's not spicy. The beans were exceptionally good for a restaurant. read more

First off I'll start with the service;it was great!!Now about the food:The enchiladas came smothered with an insane amount of thick red sauce.Now,that would not be a problem ,except that it tasted like it came from a can and it was not seasoned with either with salt,oregano or garlic like it's supposed to.The shredded beef in our tacos was a bit undercooked;our teeth did not appreciate that.And the biggest disappointment of all were the chiles rellenos.Seriously,if there is any food in the world that should never ever be stored in a freezer is chiles rellenos;they turn into something that I can only describe as tasteless and gummy,and that's what we were served.For the life of me,I don't understand why this place is always packed but,to each his own. read more

Lucy's is amazing! We have been living in El Paso for about 6 months and have struggled finding restaurants that are warm and inviting while tasting delicious. Lucy's does all of that. i have always enjoyed going to lucys cafe. i would always go to the one on lee trevino but it changed names to yvonnes?? and it hasnt been the same. started going to the one on the west side. little small but food always delicious. when i saw there was a lucys north i had to try it out. i always get their chimichangas, one beef one chicken covered in a cheese sauce. delicious!! best in town guaranteed!! im going to make a suggestion, what if you covered one in the cheese sauce and the other in a mole sauce?? now that would make you go from popular to famous!! just a suggestion. if you ever do let me know ill be there. by the way this plate comes with rice and your choice of beans(refried/charro). im telling you guys this is a hidden gem!! cant believe no picture of them on website!! aaron sanchez would love these!! read more

When she returned and sat down, a manager approached our table and loudly told her--in front of other diners--that "MEN cannot use the female restroom." My sister was mortified and humiliated by the public confrontation. The manager's tone and assumption were shocking and clearly discriminatory. We immediately got up and left without eating. This wasn't about enforcing any legitimate policy; it was rude, insensitive, and targeted. My adult sister is perfectly capable of reading the restroom signs herself--no one needed to police or shame her in such a way. The incident felt rooted in homophobia and transphobia from management. We will never return to this place, and we will actively discourage others--especially LGBTQ+ individuals and allies--from patronizing it. What should have been a joyful family milestone was ruined by bigotry. Avoid this establishment if you value respect and inclusivity.

Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

What you get is a good amount of decent food at a good price served by great people.

The tacos al pastor were great, decent amount of meat on the tacos and flavorful. Flautas are more like taquitos very crunchy on the outside and the meat was tender. Price is affordable.

Unfortunately the place we really wanted to eat at closes early on Sundays. So we hesitantly decided to go to Carlos & Mickey's since it was open. My boyfriend said the margarita was good but the food was very subpar. We added the free salsa that came with tostadas to the guacamole. It needed something to give it a decent taste. Then my flautas were not very good. I asked for more salsa so they brought me a different version. The salsa made the flautas somewhat more palatable. My boyfriend had a combo plate and ate it since he was hungry but didn't say he really liked anything on it. I say this to those from out of town esp when visiting for events like the Sun Bowl, there are other restaurants that serve fantastic Mexican food in El Paso. You truly should consider those!

I finally checked out Ámbar inside the Plaza Hotel downtown and honestly... that burger alone…read morealready earned them a return visit. I had just come down from a Tom Lea gallery event upstairs and the restaurant was packed. I figured it was a long shot, but they still found a way to seat me. Service stayed friendly even with the rush, which I always notice. The burger was easily one of the best I've had in El Paso. Clearly handcrafted, cooked right, super juicy, really flavorful. What impressed me most was the bun actually held everything together instead of falling apart halfway through like most gourmet burgers do. At about $20, it felt justified. One thing worth noting, especially if you're into spirits: they have one of the largest tequila and mezcal collections around. Definitely a destination spot if that's your thing. I tried their carajillo but found out they add Baileys, which made it sweeter than I usually prefer. Not bad at all, just more dessert-leaning than my taste. Live music from Jordan Taylor was happening that night too, which made the whole atmosphere feel elevated without being stuffy. Because that first visit stuck with me, I went back recently to try their lunch special with a friend. For $26 you get an appetizer, entrée, sides, guacamole, tostadas, and dessert. It's honestly a great way to try a range of dishes without committing to just one plate. Funny enough, it doesn't look like a huge amount of food at first... but we were completely stuffed by the end, so kudos to them for balancing portions well while still giving variety. Standouts: * The octopus cocktail appetizer was excellent. Bright, fresh, good texture. * Carne asada was cooked exactly right. Tender but still had bite like a proper steak. * Mushroom components in several dishes were surprisingly flavorful. * Desserts were a highlight. The arroz con leche arancini especially. Crispy outside, creamy inside, not overly sweet. Very well done. Some things were more middle-of-the-road: * Salmon dish leaned bland, lots of texture but not much flavor. * Guacamole tasted a bit acidic. * Goat cheese in the enchiladas was subtle to the point of disappearing. * Corn and mashed potatoes were fine but nothing memorable. Timing was reasonable. Food came out in about 20 minutes, but with a full meal you'll want to plan roughly an hour to an hour and a half total if you're not rushing. One practical perk: they validate parking at the Plaza garage next door, which downtown absolutely needs more of. Overall, beautiful space, solid service, some really strong dishes, and a few that could use more punch. Still very much worth checking out, especially if you're downtown already or want a nicer but still relaxed lunch or dinner spot. Had breakfast here one morning and it blew me away! I was stuffed but wanted to keep eating it was that good. Returned for the chicken tacos two days later (take out). WONDERFUL as well. This Lucy's opened in this location about a year ago. The location has seen about five restaurants in the past ten years that came and went. I hope Lucy's stays here forever. The food was so good. This was our first outing since the pandemic hit and we couldn't have chosen a better place to have breakfast.
