Popular casual Mexican spot. There's a cash discount but they do take credit cards. Friendly service and solid food. My friend and I came here for breakfast before heading over to the White Sands National Park. I got a Mexican omelette which came with your choice of flour or corn tortillas and home fries or hashed browns. They did give us chips and salsa for the beginning but the salsa was a bit watery. My friend got the huevos rancheros. Our food was filling and came out quickly. You pay at the cash register. Lots of people filled up the spot starting around 9am. The food was good, not great. I ordered a combination plate. The combination plate came with a small bowl of Pork chili verde. It was cold. The salsa was good & spicy. The service was good. The waiter was friendly, quick & efficient. The ambiance is ok. It's a small restaurant. I sat by the entrance to the kitchen & would not recommend sitting there. There was a lady (maybe the manager) that kept walking by screaming things at the top of her lungs plus the wait staff kept going to a little table right next to my table to check on things & write things down. The service was very friendly and I was very comfortable eating here because of the spacing measures and walls they have put up. I ordered the uevos rancheros appearance was good, looked like the picture. taste, not so much. they substituted flavor with cheese (Monterey jack) the beans were bland, lacked flavor and needed salt. Hash browns looked and were crunchy on top but not cooked well through. you could taste the raw potatoes beneath the crunchy top. I ordered the eggs over medium and were cooked well however that was it. Not sure if the reasonable price is worth the tasteless food. you can try it for yourselves. read more

Last night Feb 11th , Tuesday, I brought my son here for his 13 year old birthday. I don't normally write "review" but I just can't hold my disappointment because I ruined my son's birthday. We looked across over to I Hope and saw no customers so we decided to come in Cafe East , greeted by a tired looking server wearing mask, showing us seats then 2 drinks brought out. Next was the strolling around the dishes, and we started to eat , trying everything and everything except for mixed sticky shrimp, everything else was like leftovers , reheated, and reheated half warm, still partly cold to to taste, we spat out as much of the food smelled and tasted nasty , rotton, very very old leftovers my son expressed his disappointment ,early satiety, half full stomach , we left in disgust and I feeled sorry for my son's birthday. This place should fail hygience inspections, I can cause food poisoning I don't know why there are some hypes reviews here but I swear never step my foot in here again. It is just grossly disgusting from customer service to food , star? do I have a choice for a no star review here? Get away from this and run away faster , faster than your feet thinks they can handle , where are all the food inspection people ? DON'T DO IT. If you're thinking of eating here, you're better off at home or McDonald's! Potatoes were AWFUL funky taste. Huevos Ranchos, YIKES. The chili tasted old. Omg I cannot get this taste out of my mouth. Even the beans sucked not suprising! But beans?! The Chorizo burrito, that chorizo looked scary and there wasn't much egg. Just beans and pink looking chorizo. The service was great. Bless her heart, but the simple breakfast is not good at all. My family and I will never return. We had actually seen this place and thought, hey, why not. Let's try it. I cook better at home which upset me. During this pandemic and take out, I would have returned to meal and asked for a refund. Amazing little place they are adding onto it so it's under construction or something in the back. The food is wonderful we will be back. They have there regulars that they know by name and order! I think that is amazing. My coffee never wen under half a cup the lady would come by and ask if everything was ok and fill are drinks. The absolute best meal I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Prices are absurdly low and staff is top notch. There was confusion over the bill and I think I ended up getting a free lunch. Cannot say enough positive things about Cafe East. My only complaint is that I don't live in El Paso or else I'd be there at least once a week. read more

I was greeted like at least 20 times, extremely super friendly staff, they know almost every regular, and if you are a new customer they will make sure that you would return. Now, I was only passing by, or else I may have been a returning customer, it is good for simple meals and quick breakfast, the place is rather small, but well cared for. Pricing is average. i was beyond disappointed at the service not only the server but the manager gave my me today . a tortilla soup was served to me as requested , when I noticed small bubbles forming at the edge of the bowl . we all know this is a sign of chicken going bad . as a frequent customer I know this isn't common to happen at this restaurant which is why I calmly advised the server of my issue . to my surprise the server acted VERY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL insinuating that I didn't wanna pay for the plate . I clarified the situation and let him know I would pay for it but i just wanted to order something different , when letting him know my new order he was very bothered he was dealing with me . mind you I was very calm and collective as I know these situations can be frustrating to someone and cause delays in service . after his reaction I told him it was fine I would just pay for the tortilla soup and leave . the manager came over and to my surprise was just as rude saying I just didn't like the plate and to admit it cannot believe how poorly this situation was handled . I really didn't want anything more than a plate I knew I would enjoy. I was t going to risk getting sick over a plate I knew was probably bad . This is a true diamond in the rough. What an atmosphere! You must come see for yourself. It humbles me there are places like this in our city. Friendly waitresses that know their returning clients and welcoming to all new face that walk through the door. The waitresses and cooks hustle like it was what they were born to do. Makes the sluggish teenagers look ridiculous. When you sit down you can smell all the delicious food cooking, the clanking of the metal spatulas hitting the flat tops.
