I decided to check out Lucy's Tailoring to get some last-minute tailoring done on 3 work shirts before an overseas trip. I didn't call ahead or anything, and 1 week turn around is pretty quick for an order like that. Lucky for me, they were able to take the job and they did great - excellent work on the shirts, and completed on time just as requested. I believe the gentleman working the front of the shop was named Harry. He was very nice and accommodating, even when a wave of several other customers arrived just after I did. It seemed like he knew everyone else who came in, which really left a good impression. If I need more tailoring done in the future, I'm coming here. read more

I trusted Lucy's Tailoring with my wedding dress alterations and was very pleased! My whole experience was personable and straightforward. I came in once for my quote, a second time to actually have the alterations done, and the last time to pick up my dress. The alterations included taking in the bodice, hem, and adding a bustle. The whole process took 2.5 months and cost approximately $750. I was very happy with the finished product. However, a button did fall off of the bustle during my wedding night. I was recommended to come here from Anthropology. However, I would honestly take your dress elsewhere. The dress got tailored in the time quoted, so the basics are there. The atmosphere and customer service though are a bit lacking. Everytime I've been (mind you, have had an appointment each time) there's only 1 person working up front and about 5-10 customers coming in or out and any given time. Problem is, they are also all waiting on the 1 employee - it's awkward. While I was trying on my dress, everyone was staring at me waiting for the 1 person working to help them instead. The attention to detail on pinning clothes/dress was limited and lacking as you can tell the employee is pulled in about 5 directions the entire time you are there - it's pretty chaotic and not a very good experience when getting a wedding dress altered. I was also told "not to put my wedding dress inside my luggage for the plane because it may stink" yet the person helping me REEKED of cigarette smoke while pinning and pulling at my dress. He was also so close to me to check the alterations and I really don't like the smell of smoke. Pretty sure I'm more concerned about cigarette smoke from the tailor over the off chance the airplane luggage system gives it a smell. On top of this, my quoted wait time for regular alterations was 3 months - now knowing the area better and having looked around, there are many other places that can get it done in 1-2 months. I'm also thinking the price was over inflated, I paid almost $600 for my alterations and am still not sure where it all came from or what the charges were for. read more

Absolute magic! My dress was several sizes too big and had a lot of layers of delicate material to shorten in the skirt and complicated detailing in the corset and it came out like a dream. Been going to Lucy's for 15ish years between their ex-South Coast Plaza location (Susan is a Gem) and Harry's Seacliff store and I am not alone as Harry is pretty much on a first name basis with just about everybody I've seen come in well I'm getting measured or waiting to get measured... Harry makes it look easy, but the second part is how ea seamstress interprets Harry's pinning so that the Alterations come out perfecto. I brought in over 100 garments from dress slacks to Tommy Bahama shirts and shorts and everything in between and he's at about a 98-99% accuracy, having only to adjust some stitching twice and without hesitation so I can gladly attest to my attire fitting like a glove... Wouldn't trust my clothing to anyplace else, never had any issues whatsoever with any alterations I've taken here. I've had 15 or so pairs of denim hemmed, some rips/holes patched up, a bunch of leggings/athletic wear hemmed, and the arms lengthened on a Burberry wool coat, everything has come out beautifully, always promptly and always a great price. I purchased my dress from their BHLDN wedding dress line, and they assured me that Lucy's Tailoring was the best, and already experienced with BHLDN designs. I can safely say, they were absolutely correct!!!!! I had the privilege of working with Harry, who is an absolute professional and just so, so sweet! I was absolutely swimming in my dress when I first tried it on out of the box. The bust was too loose and hung so low it was almost at my belly button! The dress was also too long and had many heavy layers of fabric that needed to be shortened. I also hoped to add a bustle to the dress for my reception. After a thorough fitting, Harry addressed worry I had, and assured me that the dress would be perfect! I came by to pick up my dress a few weeks later and I was absolutely in love! The dress fit like a glove, and Harry explained in detail how to get into and adjust the dress so it looks perfect (posture is everything ladies!!!) and how to button up the added bustle. Had two wedding dresses altered. This was recommended by my sales person at Anthropologie. One was just for hemming the length and the other was for hemming and shoulder adjustment. And one dress had a bustle placed. I asked to have thin cups sewn in for the anthro Octavia dress but they said they don't do that. Service was quick and courteous. The store itself is very spacious and clean. There was only ever one other person in there when I visited for the fitting so I felt like I got a lot of their attention. The job was done well. It took 6 weeks to get the dresses back. The price was NOT CHEAP. I paid $350 total for both dresses. read more

I bought my dress at anthropology bridal section. So when it came to finding a good tailor they recommend, Lucy's Tailoring. I didn't do any additional research because my mindset was Harry would know how the dress design is since so many of their clients come here. I have ZERO REGRETS! It came out perfectly tailored and in time for my big day. The process was easy just call to schedule your appt. There's a private dressing room and if you need help zipping the dress up he can assist with that. And he is extremely professional and respectful. He would let you know what he suggest to be done with the dress and you can also let him know what you would like to do as well. Before you leave he'll give you a receipt with the cost then you come back to try on the dress. And that's it! And the pricing is reasonable it was $302 for shorting the front and the straps with cups sewn. read more
