Came here for lunch for a farewell lunch for my coworker. I haven't been here in a long time. Inside there is a lot of seating and not too busy. The table and seating were very comfortable. Parking is kind of small and tight. Server was informative and was very good about my coworker's nut allergies. The bread came out and had a good chimichurri that came with it. I think I had like three slices. All the meals came with salad which was not special. I order the Panko Shrimp which was absolutely delicious. I would come here again to try the other dishes. Some of the servers could be a little nicer and the food sometimes takes a while to come out, but that's just me nitpicking. I came with some girlfriends on a busy Friday happy hour. The bartender was extremely friendly and helpful with our drink choices. We then decided to move to a table and they made sure they had space for us. Everyone working there was extremely friendly and nice to deal with. The ambiance at Ludal's is very nice, and a beautiful bar area. The food is nothing more than average at best. Our salads were only mix greens with some shaved carrots. My veal parmesan, and my wife's eggplant rollatini appetizer were good, but nothing special. The problem with our food was they came out luke warm, and was cold half way through the meal. If our server came around to ask "how is everything", I would have complain, but he wasn't seen till well after our meal was over. read more

We ordered all the specials; Buff mozzarella, beet & walnut salad appetizer, Sushi grade tuna over black rice and the panko crusted halibut entree's, and another pinot. If I could give it zero starts I would. I had some ants on my table since was the middle of Summer when I went I found out they put the table cloth over a dirty table and didn't wash it after spill or something went through the tablecloth from a previous customer. they said stand here we will clean it and I said can't I get moved to another table. I then asked for the manager when I wasn't given that new table and the manager refused as well. I went back up to the manager during my meal and told him how bd the food was he didn't take it off my bill nor did I even eat any of it. My wife had dry porkchop the worst she ever had in her life and she said the arugula salad was old tasting like refirgerator and I went for my Bday they gave me old fishy fish and yellow arugula in my salad. I will not be back and I didn't even get a pice of cake or something for dessert for my bday should have walked out after our mains were served so crappy. Watery clam sauce with colorless calamari and parsley unevenly cut over top, tomato sauce lacked any flavoring, a jar of Rao's or Paesana sauce better. Chicken cutlet tasted of oil, no seasoning salt or pepper. Just fried with mozz cheese on top, sauce on spaghetti Nothing spectacularly outstanding of the dishes since flavoring was completely missed on all dishes served. $286 later left with doggy bags for cat, for party of 6. We were in town for a hockey tournament and one of the local parent recommended this place. At first glance it's a beautiful restaurant unfortunately the server ruined for us. He was condescending to my husband we asked if they had baked potato to go w the steak and were told no I just told you we only had fries, roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes so that's how our evening started by having a rude waiter named Richard but the busboy was really nice I believe he said his name was Mario. The steaks were cooked perfectly but not sure if it was black angus choice it didn't tasted like it, now the bread and the dipping were the best. We were never given the choice of ordering desert. One of my other favorite spots. Since Covid things have changed but the food is still good. They no longer have the garlic knots. The crusty bread they give is very good because it comes from one of my other favorite spots (Bread and Chocolate). They still offer the garlic spread for the bread so that is a good thing. We went on Easter Sunday 2023 and the food was very good. My pasta came out too mushy so I sent it back so that was disappointing. They got the pasta right the second go around. Usually I never have that problem but I guess because it was so busy things happen. I would certainly go back. My usual waiter Jose was not able to wait on us but we had good service. The owners are adept at presenting impressive food, a stunning, clean atmosphere, experienced professional waiters and a spacious lot for parking. The key to their success is consistency. It is a wonderful place to celebrate special occasions with your whole family or just have a romantic, delicious meal for two. Their phenomenal entrées are delicious and plentiful. However, the bread and stupendous chimichurri type spread they serve initially is their signature intoxication. I have suggested this place for many get togethers with my friends. Everyone agrees that the bread and spread were worth the trip before they even have their meals. The Veal Matisse and sword fish dishes were beautifully prepared. The desserts are also incredible. If you are a Mojito aficionado you will love their selection of Mojitos. They are blended and crafted to perfection. One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area! The interior is large with multiple rooms for seating (as well as the bar), though I would still highly recommend making a reservation, as it does get very busy (especially on a weekend night). The food and service are both excellent. To start, they give you homemade sliced bread with a garlic butter spread, which is absolutely amazing. The menu is fairly extensive, and they usually have 2-3 dinner specials as well. I like the short rib, which is served with a mascarpone risotto. For dessert I always order the creme brûlée. The only complaint I have is the parking situation, at least when I went on a Friday night. There is a fairly large parking lot in back, but also a soccer field behind the restaurant, and when I went there was a soccer game going on, so it was very difficult to find a space. Overall I would say Ludal's is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to! read more

Late night, this restaurant turns into a club type environment. There is a DJ that plays current hits and house music. The food is hand down fantastic. I highly recommend the short rib or ravioli. if youre going to want to watch any event, like recently for example, the Kentucky Derby, go here & sit at the bar. If you ever wanted to do that, in the past you would go to the now defunct Damons in Cheshire. This screen alone is one reason alone to go. But there are other reasons. This is my 3rd time coming to Ludal's over the span of 4 years. My memory of the menu is hazy from past meals, so I will only speak on the meal I had today! To start, they bring out fresh bread with pads of butter and this garlic spread. If eating this bread and that spread could account for a meal, I would only eat that! LOL It is by far the best bread and butter/spread I've ever had at a restaurant. The menu has SO many good items. I felt overwhelmed not being able to choose, I wish I could taste the ones I was interested in-- like a tapas! For appetizer, my table shared the fried mozzarella which was absolutely delicious. I ate the piece with the sauce on it to see if it would still maintain it's crunch and it sure held up. One of the best fried mozzarellas I have tasted :) Today, I went with the Pork Chop. The pork chop had a delicious glaze on it with a side of roasted sweet potatoes. The pork chop itself was massive and I only ate half and decided to take the rest home. A glass cost about a penny to make and they 3.00 a glass with no refills. Shrimp and Scallops over pasta... False advertising. ONE scallop, 3 shrimp and very little pasta for 28.00. Deserts 11.00 each and tiny. I got the ricotta cheesecake with pear, to go, opened it it was 3 small chunks of cheesecake and NO PEAR. lunch for the 3 of us was 178.00. We arrived at 5pm on a Thursday and within a half hour, it filled up so I would recommend reservations if you do not plan to arrive early. The restaurant is large with a variety of seating options including a formal dining area, high top tables, and bar seating. We took advantage of happy hour specials which included $1 off drinks and 50% off one appetizer (with the purchase of a drink). We split the burrata (served with prosciutto, roasted red peppers and artichokes,) fried calamari (with your choice of marinara or Vodka sauce, and smoked salmon (with arugula and capers) appetizers. Start to finish amazing! By far the best Italian restaurant I've eaten at in CT. Highly recommend any of the seafood dishes.

The service was great, attentive and not too attentive. The food was good, just overly salted. It made my short ribs and risotto difficult to eat. I did take my leftovers home and the next day, the edge of too much salt calmed down. I don't know the science behind that, though I'm glad I was able to enjoy my meal more the next day.
