If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would!! My 5 yr old daughter and I had a mommy/daughter date night tonight, and ended up at Luigi's for dinner. The food was AMAZING. Generous portions, wonderful flavor, and my favorite part-- there was actually delicious sauce covering ALL of the pasta! My daughter even did the thing where she closes her eyes and just says "mmmmmmmm" when she took her first bite. Our waitress was super attentive and polite and just the general atmosphere was wonderful. As we were leaving, my daughter said that we should always come to this restaurant for our mommy/daughter dates, and I 100% agree with her. We will definitely be back, rime and time again. I was shocked when I saw my lasagna, it was maybe 1 inch high. Every other lasagna I have ever had was about 3 inches tall. I thought they brought out a kids portion. I spoke to both my server and a manager and their reply was, that's the way it is. Two stars because the meal was tasty. When my server brought my change, she didn't bring the coins, only the bills. Everything was delicious. Service was quick and easy, including car delivery. They were not compromising the menu during the stay at home order. Started with the mozzarella sticks, WOW! I don't know if I've ever had good mozzarella sticks before, but I have now. The marinara has an really nice acidic tomato flavor, it is not jar stuff. The bread was tough crust but fluffy and tender on the inside, GOOD bread. Our server was Hannah, awesome job! She brought out real parmesan cheese for my pancheta. Was kinda disappointed she originally had asked if we needed salt & pepper or any parmesan and bought out the cheap store stuff. I asked for the real stuff and she went and got it right away with a smile , good service. Serving size was just right, I'm a fat kid and like to eat. I cleaned my plate, and am full. I told Hannah that it would have been nice to have a couple more pieces of that bread to clean up the extra sauce, she said you should have asked. Luigi's has very, very good, authentic Italian food, just as good as the fine restaurants I dined at in Italy. The Fettucine Alfredo with chicken is superb. The Tortellini Pasta with Shrimp is excellent, the pana sauce exquisite, and the tortellini melts in your mouth. Next time I get the tortellini entree, I am going to order two, a second to take home, I end up craving it for several days after I have it. Their homemade bread is a treat, and the balsamic vinegar/olive oil dipping sauce is really good too. I could go on and on, suffice it to say Luigi's food is outstanding. Surprise gem! Luigi's is definitely a decent neighborhood Italian spot. I was pretty pleased with my meal. I'll be honest I came for the bread. Lol. But the real prize is the bruschetta mix that the bread comes with. Now to the food. I was going to get the linguine Trotto del mare, but the server at the bar told me about the Luigi special. The Luigis special is a spaghetti with a red sauce/Alfredo sauce mix with spinach, sausage, and Canadian bacon. So I got the special. So, when it came to the table, I was hella skeptical! I'm not going to lie. It looked a mess and the Canadian bacon looked like pepperoni. I was like ummmm no thank you. But MAN, it was delicious! Same thing happened with the Tiramisu. When it came to the table, it looked like an old piece and the edges were a little worn like refrigerator dried out. (Not sure if that makes sense) but the taste was decent. I ate the whole piece if that's telling you anything. I also had a glass of white sangria and a side Italian salad. Both were good. I sat at the bar. Seems like the bar is where all the regulars sit. I had an overall pleasant experience. Temporarily ruined by the older regulars sitting next to me talking about they read somewhere that 80% of Americans are immune to COVID. I cannot. We ordered pizza for carry out and it was amazing! I highly recommend the supreme pizza. It comes with bread and dipping sauce.

Stop in for lunch while shopping in downtown Levenworth. The spinach lasagna is very good. My lunch was served with homemade bread and a dipping plate with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and tomatoes. I enjoyed a very nice Cabernet Sauvignon that was recommended by the owner. I'm looking forward to bring my husband back for dinner. read more

Why go downtown KC for great Italian? Luigi's was a terrific surprise. Rivals Garozzos and perhaps, Lidias. The dishes were excellent. Caprese Salad with extra fresh basil and juicy tomatoes. Perhaps the best tomato soup I've tasted. Lasagne (per my wife) was outstanding. The peppers and sausage over a base of spaghetti was simply, awesome. This is a treasure. If you want to go eat Italian food where the waiter never puts in your order, and then after an hour lies to you about the status of your order when in fact he never put your order in the kitchen, then this is the place for you. But wait! It gets even worse. Picture 20 minutes after that SNAFU and then he brings you out the wrong order and wants to argue with you about how the meal comes! This place has gone downhill from the first time I ate here. Will not be coming back. If I could give a negative star rating I would. This place is not worth even the 1 star rating which is sad because the cook does a good job. The food is good but if you can't get it because of the wait staff then why bother. read more

I've tried this place a handful of times over the years. Everything is reheated or pre-made. The lasagna is mushy, the calamari over cooked and the chicken is aways bland. Leavenworth needs a good Italian place so we don't have to travel to KC...but the travel is so worth it! Luigi's falls short every time. Delicious food! Nice open dining area. Their garlic rolls and olive oil and balsamic vinegar with tomatoes, red onion, and herbs is DELICIOUS!! Love their pasta dishes. Did not love that a young girl (maybe 8 years old?) was "helping" to serve our table but instead was hanging on our server, racing to our table, taking things from the server and shoving things in front of us on the table. Very unprofessional and stressful when we're trying to have a night out AWAY from rowdy kids. But our server herself was very kind and friendly. read more

First off, this post doesn't reflect the quality of the service or food that my wife and I received tonight and in the past at Luigi's. Instead, it reflects the totally inconsiderate behavior of the table of 9, 7 men and 2 women, that negatively impacted the dining experience of everyone else in the restaurant Our table was across the room from these louts and i literally had to repeatedly ask my wife to repeat what she said as the table of 9 was that loud. Just no consideration at all for those around them. Particularly loud and inconsiderate was the man in a blue shirt with sunglasses on top of his head. I mentioned to our waitress about the noise coming from the table and she was apologetic and stated that they had asked the patrons at the table, which they clearly ignored. Leavenworth has long struggled to have nice restaurants at which you could take someone for a nice evening out with dinner and conversation. No wonder Leavenworth residents are willing to drive 45 minutes or more to KC to experience a nice evening out at a restaurant. I realize that restaurant owners face a dilemma when it comes to dealing with an inconsiderate, rude group of customers like my wife and I experienced tonight. read more

We met our daugther there for dinner one evening and she had never been. We chose Luigi's as we had been there before and had a good experience and wanted her to try it too. The food is always good and the portions are generous. If we had any complaint, is was that there was a party going on in the back and without any way to seal off that area, the singing and loud talking made it a bit hard to communicate. We went on a Thursday evening around 6:30, didn't appear busy and no one was waiting in the lobby. We stood there for about 10 minutes waiting to be seated. The bartender and two servers both just looked at us without acknowledgement. Finally another server came out told us she would be back after she took some other people menus. Great cold calamari has the consistency for rubber bands or cold main courses. Most of the way through our main course she brings the check. So much for dessert. We asked for the chocolate cake to go so she brings a plate of cake. To go in the midwest means you put it in a container. I have never seen a lasagna that thin The chicken parmesan was a pre packaged chicken cutlet with no seasoning. It is hard to tell if it was Tyson chicken or not. My family and I waited for 2 hours before a single meal came out to our table. We were told multiple times that our food would "be out any second" and it was "at the front of the line" yet we still waited over an hour before the meals started to come out. We were told it was a computer error, but we never saw our waitress enough for her to go check on what was taking our food so long. We had to go find staff ourselves to complain and get answers. Very unprofessional employees. We arrived an hour before close and got seated. The only other customers left seconds after we were seated. There was 8-10 people doing absolutely nothing and maybe 3-4 cleaning up and actually working. Almost every employee was either in the kitchen or hanging out around the bar talking very loudly. We barely saw our waitress, we had to stare until we caught someone's eye at the bar to even get anyone's attention to go get our waitress out of the kitchen. She forgot to put the order in for our appetizer so we were halfway done with our meals before it even came out. In the meantime, some loudmouth woman behind the bar was loudly discussing cleaning toilets and it being so bad she had to use both hands, and what to do when there's vomit. This was the first time we have gotten food from Luigi's since the change in management. Let me say, the food did not disappoint. We lived in Itsly for 3 years and I would put any one of the meals four entrees we ordered against any meal we ate in Italy. We ordered 4 entrees for our family of 5 and had enough leftovers for 4 lunches the next day. We will be back often!!! read more
