First of all, the waitress was severely overworked and then was being picked on by another waitress. The cook made an error with our pizzas so we waited for over 45 minutes for our pizzas to arrive. The crust on my pizza was so soggy that I couldn't pick it up. They blamed all the veggies but I ordered what was on the menu, it wasn't anything unique. We waited so long for our pizza that we asked for to go containers and they brought out little styrofoam containers. I said I need a pizza box so the owner told me that would cost an extra $1.50. Times 3 pizzas, another $4.50. I said ridiculous but you leave me no choice as I am not cramming my pizza into those little dinner containers. A few minutes later, he recanted and removed the $4.50 charge. Bottom line, we are still searching fir great pizza. read more

In the heart of Flint, there is this little gem. When you walk in, it's friendly, with pictures and drawings of old actors and actresses. The staff was super friendly. She even boxed my food and bread for me! It made me feel fancy lol. The food- omg the food!!! From what the waitress told me the recipes are from the lady who originally owned it, and she was from Italy. It was amazing. I think it is worth the drive. Or even if you are in the area. When I was a little girl, my father owned a car dealership. When it was auction night he always brought home one of their super sized pie. Funny thing being small I always thought the pizza came with 2 pieces shy. When I was pregnant my sister always came over with a super sized pie, because that was my craving. Fast forward and I started working in a high school and met one of my best friends ever. He was a power lifter and was buffed up, we became great friends. Many times a group of us would go to Luigi's to get a pie; matter of fact he had his picture on the wall over a booth in the bar section. His picture shows him striking a pose next to his pool. Meh.... don't know how this is rated 4*. My son had fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and said it was decent, but he's no Anthony Bourdain.. I ordered their "world famous" pizza that was round and thin. Do not know where people say the had their square pizza because not on menu (possibly another Luigi's????). Pizza very thin crust, and loaded with toppings (too much in my opinion). Very little sauce and cheese, kinda like a cracker with pile of toppings. Sorry, I've had plenty of pizza way better- but not many that were as unappealing frankly. Good antipasto salad and baked pasta, but bad service. Been here only twice because of it. I love the menu, everything is so amazing, but the service is a buzzkill. I have felt like returning because I love the food, but have not done so yet since the service kills it for me. I still love Luigi's, but they need to pick up the slack on the horrible service. It is slow and they bring the wrong orders to the table. They always mix up orders and that is the problem with the front of house staff, not the kitchen. They are bumbling around and act like no problem to them. They wouldn't like it if someone was not focusing on them if they were the diners and not waiting tables. The service is a disaster most of the time, but the food does make it worth the aggravation. I just wish the manager was paying more attention to front of the house staff. Old faithful never fails to please I've been eating Luigi's pizza since I first tasted solid food as a baby in the early 1960s. Left Flint in 1980 to join the military and see the world. Have eaten one helluva lot of pizza in one helluva lot of places around this planet, including probably a dozen times in Italy. Trust me when I say Luigi's has yet to be beaten for flavor. In fact, it is still on my "must-eat" list when I visit the relatives in Michigan each year. Recently had to pleasure of eating their twice in two weeks. Was nicer when the Fenton location was open (closer to home), but it tastes so good I'm even willing to venture (daytime is safest) to the original home of Luigi's in a not-so-good part of Flint. Once again, their unique, square-cut pizza did not disappoint. I particularly am fond of ham and onions on my pie -- they do it better than any other I've tasted. And their thin crust is FAR better than the ones I ate in Italy (sorry Italy). Not much to like about Flint overall, but eating at one of its oldest institutions should be on everyone's bucket list. This restaurant is definitely getting five stars. Luigi's has the best thin crust pizza I've ever eaten in my life. I'm Italian and have high standards and their pizza is so good here. I've also had a couple other items on the menu and they've all been good. My boyfriend is the one who introduced me to this place and we love coming here on dates every couple of weeks. We usually sit at the bar and the bartender is very nice and very attentive. It's nice coming here if there's a game on and to just relax and have a nice evening together. read more

I read the reviews, but thought I went to the wrong place based upon the food quality. Wife had pasta with meat sauce, meatballs, and mushrooms. Nothing prepared fresh here on this dish- pasta was overcooked, jar sauce was horrible, mushrooms were from a can (tasteless), the worst part were the freezer burned meatballs that were so hard that you couldn't stick a fork into them - we showed the waitress and she thought they were still frozen (they were not frozen but just freezer burned hard as a rock - yes a super big EWW!) I had pizza that was thin crust and edible but near the bottom of my rating as far as thin crust goes. They did not use enough semolina to give some good crust taste, sauce was jar and overseasoned, cheese was thin, but good amount of pepperoni. I ate it, but couldn't recommend this place over most chain pizza places as it was mediocre. We brought the leftover pizza home, but through it away after taking a final bite before bagging it. My kids didn't eat anything but bread. Service was good, so there are the two stars. I won't be going back. read more

I had a new lease on life after I had the pizza at this place for the first time. Now, whenever I visit my grandparents in the suburbs of vibrant (ha ha) Flint, Michigan, no trip is complete without a journey down I-75 to this place. The pizzas are gigantic, the crust is thin and flaky/crispy, and the toppings are very plentiful and very fresh. They put so many toppings on the pizza that they have to cut the thing into squares to keep it from falling apart when you pick it up, and even then, it still falls apart on a regular basis (mind you, this is a GOOD thing in this instance). This is a place I make sure to visit every time I go back to Flint, MI (where I grew up). Their pizza is absolute heaven. It's cut into squares, and they bring it out on a silver platter. It's known by locals for being absolutely amazing, although from the outside you'd never know. It has a bar section, and a family section so you can easily get away from the smoke. The pizza is literally to die for. I'm a fan of pepperoni, and that's about it, but my family's favorite is the Director's Cut pizza, thin crust. I'm giving 2 stars because the kitchen staff were not wearing masks when making the food nor were the long haired employees wearing hair nets in the food area. Long time family favorite. The thin crust pizza is fabulous and they always bring you oil, vinegar, pepper flakes and parmesan cheese so you can dress it up any way you like. The staff is always friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable. The best little pizzeria I've ever visited. The original thin recipe thin crust pizza here is absolutely delicious! Also, the stromboli, lasagna and breadsticks are AMAZING! In fact I haven't has anything I didn't like. They have a small dining area that is separate from the bar area, which really makes you feel like you are in such an intimate setting. The bar area next door is a great place to meet up with friends, enjoy some pizza and have a beer. This place has been here for decades and it's easy to see why. We stopped here on our way to Mackinac Island and were blown away by the food! It was incredible, easily the best pizza and breadsticks I've ever had. The prices were also extremely reasonable. We got horrible service and were treated like we were bothering everyone. We show up at 5:20 and were told by three different servers they were closing at 6 for their employee Christmas party. With zero patrons ahead odd us, the pizza took 35 minutes to get to the table, our server (who forgot our soup and dressing twice after we asked for it twice) said, "well that's how long it takes to cook a pizza." Um no, it doesn't. We heard the bartender talking about "as soon as this tables leaves we can party." We asked for everything boxed up because we felt uncountable being there, and were treated with contempt. Server didn't say a word as she dropped things at the table, no "here ya go!
