Service was great. Appreciated booth seating. Food was just really disappointing. Mid or below par on each dish. Pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Mushrooms were super skimpy. Sauce was flavorless. Crust was meh. Even the cheese seemed as if it were food service grade from a huge bag. It was just underwhelming like PeterPiperPizza from when we had to take kids to a bday party. Daughter's dish had shrimp, red sauce, and pasta. Pasta was overcooked. Sauce lacked flavor. And even at that, it was garlicky to the point of bitterness, and we LOVE garlic. She brought most of it home where it sat for a couple of days in the fridge and then got tossed out. It wasn't gross food, by any means, and the relaxing atmosphere was what we were hoping for (not overly loud), but at the end of the day, we have no desire to go back. We really love supporting the local mom and pop shops, and I hate to leave negative feedback, but this just wasn't it for us. read more

Hubby & I had not been to Luigis for quite sometime. We went about 4:30, on Sat, 4/25/26, to avoid the crowds. No one was at the entry station & we waited about 5 minutes before a tall, non-smiling, barely audible woman "greeted us" & led us to a booth. There were only two other booths occupied, & it was nearing 5:00 pm, quite surprising, since we recalled a once upon a time, bustling crowd. The same woman took our drink order, nowadays, "water", to keep the cost of eating out less of a sticker shock. A young man brought slightly burned top bread to our table, my husband said it was OK but would have enjoyed it better without the blackened tops. I asked the waitress if it was garlic bread, she told it was, & I mentioned I can't eat garlic bread, so she offered to bring rolls without garlic. I told her she didn't need to do that, but later, she brought me two delicious, perfectly baked hot rolls, without garlic. The creature was very kind .. but, still no smile! We love Luigis pasta dishes, but felt like trying their pizza & ordered the Luigis salad, to split. The salad was huge, but mainly chopped lettuce, red cabbage slivers, with two tomato wedges. Not near as impressive as salads we get at TX Roadhouse & the Longhorn Steak House, but crispy & good. They offered very few dressings, but the red Italian was delicious & my spouse said the ranch dressing was good, too. Mid-way through the salad, as an after thought, the Italian music was turned on, adding a bit of ambiance to the dark, quiet dining area. We thought that was odd, not turning music on, just as one would turn on lights, etc, at a restaurant. Our Canadian bacon/pineapple pizza, from the moment it was placed on the table, was unimpressive. It was thin, & void of an abundance of ingredients. It was very greasy, so we blotted every slice, having to go to the nearby entry station, still unoccupied, to grab extra napkins, because the waitress rarely returned to our table. Only one other group had entered the restaurant & another waitress was tending to them, so she was not "busy". How anyone can take cheese + meats + pineapple, & end up with a tasteless pizza, is beyond understanding, but add tough dough to the mix & Luigi's managed to serve the worst pizza we have ever been eaten! We were hungry & ate what we could, taking remaining slices home, thinking I could add bell pepper to a left over slice, toast it & eat it for a Sunday afternoon snack. For $16.99, we hated to leave 1/2 of a medium pizza, even though it was inferior quality! Honestly, we have gotten better at Domino's, for a fraction of the cost. We left the restaurant & went for a Sat evening drive, passing the restaurant, on Hwy 84, about 6:15 p.m., noticing few vehicles on the Luigis parking lot. What has happened? Would recommend someone to cheerfully greet customers, smiling/friendly waitresses, a manager coming around tables to greet & chat with customers, making them feel "welcome" & an evaluation of food quality! We hate to see a really good restaurant on the slippery slope of decline! read more

Good food. Did not enjoy the Caesar salad at all. Tasted like store bought salad in a package and croutons were terrible. Seafood was perfectly cooked though. The seafood special is what I got. My husband got a pasta dish that was creamy. He enjoyed it. Lots of garlic but not a lot of Italian flavor. I enjoy the places more that we went in Wisconsin - true Italian places that were closed during the winter because they went back to Italy. I think like any business they are cutting corners, but I wish they would just increase prices instead. read more

Honestly very mid the server was very kind and she covered my salad since it was pretty bad so that's a plus but as you can see the salad I got was drenched and it was like it just got washed and thrown on the plate because it was just so wet I also got the pasta sampler which the ravioli was okay and same with the manicotti if your a cheese lover you'll like it but the lasagna was like if Chef Boyardee and stouffer's had a baby is was not great but I will also say the price was not bad I would say if you're just trying to find something a little bit cheaper and kind of a hole in the wall come check this place out, but don't expect anything great other than the servers and avoid the Caesar salad! read more

So we decided to try this new restaurant because it's close to home and we love Italian food. When we arrived we were seated right away. People were very kind. Our server was very helpful and kind. But the food was terrible. I did not like the chicken or the sauce in my chicken piccata. I don't think I've ever not like the chicken piccata at a restaurant before. My husband did not care for the sauce in his meal either. Then I tried the chicken Parmesan because I didn't like the first meal that I ordered. The chicken Parmesan was just as bad as the first meal. I'm really sorry to say that the food was just not good here at all. The rolls looked really good but they did not taste very good. Great experience here. They used to be located in Mc Gregor Texas but I heard that they relocated to Waco. Located next to the La Quinta inn. The food is just as good here as the old location. I ordered the chicken parm and it was just as good as I always had. My dad ordered the Luigi special spaghetti w sausage chicken meatballs and shrooms. I liked the salad bread and parm w spaghetti. The atmosphere was similar to the old place but updated and more modern. My father loved his plate as well. All in all a great experience I will be back again hopefully soon. The service was great here as well. The food came quickly. The sign out front indicated they were currently hiring. They are closed on Sundays. I love mom and pop shops. This one has still got the family feel I like. There was only one restaurant that I can compare to this one. Not sure if it is still around but it was a family one like this that I went I as a child in my hometown in the 70's. Just w updated decor. Fairly romantic as well at least for Waco. They offer wine but I don't partake of alcohol. They also serve quite a few seafood plates but we didn't order them. Again a wonderful experience. read more

The pizza was so fresh and clean tasting. The wait staff was prompt, efficient, and friendly according to my sister-in-law. About to get another pizza now. This is definitely my new Italian place. Too much sauce on the spaghetti and all mixed in instead of sauce on top. Pizza was not good at all. Jalapeños tasted like pure vinegar and not much cheese on the pizza. My wife had the house special salmon and was very pleased with it. And of course I gay the bad waitress. Watched other staff busy and doing a good job. Mine came out of kitchen and watched t.v. At the bar then went back in kitchen 3 times without bringing out food or drinks. I finally got another waitress to get her to bring us refills on tea. read more

Food was not worth the price, tomato sauce from calamari tasted like it was from a can. Pasta primavera had tons of noodles but few veggies.

This place is right down the road from us and has been open for a while. We just always thought eeehh maybe not, cause it's not always very busy when we pass by. We finally went couple weeks ago and it was freakin awesome! It will now be our go to place for pasta. He had the eggplant parmigiana entree and I had the lasagna with added mushrooms entree. They were both fantastic. The bread was soft and flavorful and our waiter Vesel knew his stuff as being our first time I always ask lots of questions. I love this place! 5 star service and delicious food. I order pizza from here, and it's perfectly done. I prefer Luigi's pizza over moroso's because Luigi's has better cheese and overall more flavor! I love any pasta dish made with the Alla Panna sauce (cream sauce with a touch of marinara). Tonight I tried the tiramisu and it's delicious and I will order it again! Walking into the restaurant the initial reaction was everything smelled great. The atmosphere was nice and well kept. We were seated immediately and the waitstaff was very responsive. With that being said, the primary factor that a restaurant is based on: the food itself.. was a total flop. The portions were good;however, the first bite did not match anything else within the restaurant. The food lacked any seasoning or flavor. This was by far the most bland Italian food I have ever had. My family and I went to Luigi's this evening for my dads birthday dinner. I ordered pasta and a side salad as my starter. The side salad was fine however when I got to the bottom of the dish I found a hair. I know it was not mine and my hair way pulled back. I informed the waitress very kindly of the problem and she apologized and let me know it was probably her hair as she was the one who made the side salad. I asked for my food to be canceled as I had lost my appetite. She said it would be no problem and cancelled my order. The bigger problem came when it was time for the check. When we got our ticket the salad was still on our bill. I had eaten most of the side salad but stopped and spit my food out once I found the hair buried underneath my food. I did not initially ask the waitress if the salad wouldn't be placed on the ticket as I thought they would leave it off after the courtesy of them leaving hair in my dish. My husband asked if the salad was initially left on the bill and the waitress, without missing a beat, let us know very quickly that because I ate the salad it did not matter her boss (the owner) would make no exceptions and would not take the food off. She said we could talk to him but there was no way of changing his mind. At this point I leave and left my husband to pay. When he later came to the car he told me the salad was then taken off. The least they should have done is taken the dish off without us having to ask. If we had not said something and I had not left the restaurant noticeably frustrated they would have charged me for my lost appetite. This was not my first time at Luigi's but it will most likely be my last. I am disappointed that it seemed that no one helping my family had any sense of courtesy. read more
