On our long trip through Texas, we found ourselves passing through Waco. We just had to stop at Poppa Rollos (the original on Valley Mills). Restocked our t-shirts and got a few pizzas to go. They were just as good as years ago. Poppa wasn't there today and we were disappointed. But, the food was as fabulous as ever. The server was pleasant and helpful. This place use to be my FAVORITE PIZZA PLACE FOR YEARS! Not now, my last 3 visits, pizza is dry and not fresh tasting. As of now, I won't go back. Placed an order on DoorDash at 5:45 PM. Didn't have our food delivered to us until 8:00 PM. Our dasher waited over an hour in the parking lot, checking on our order, to find out there were many customers there who were also waiting an hour to two hours for their food. I tried to call the store multiple times to get an update on the order, and was not able to get through anytime. Extremely upset as we were told by a few locals this was a good spot. First time using Online ordering. Cool seeing how far you can break down all the parts of a pizza is exciting, but interpretation of the selections is flawed. Still a better idea to call. We selected Light Cheese and picked up a pizza with no cheese on half of the pizza. True, that is light (or less) cheese. This batch of low sodium pizza sauce is very heavy on the oregano. We always enjoy pizza from Poppa Rollo's. I haven't purchased in a while. There wasn't as much cheese as previous. There was more red sauce than before. I ordered online and couldn't make changes. I didn't want anchovies on my salad, but couldn't tell the site, that. I didn't realize I have to ask for grated cheese and we really like to use that. The communication with the person who handed me the pizza, was not friendly and could have told me about the salad and asked if I wanted some grated cheese. Went here on a Friday night at 5:30, was not busy. Absolutely HORRIBLE service. Two dishes had to be sent back because they were cold-nachos had cheese that wasn't even melted. Never got offered a refill. Had to ask at least 3 times for anything like ranch or boxes. One server for the whole front room. It was absolutely ridiculous. We have had bad service before but gone back because of how good the food is but that is changing right now. We will NEVER go to this location again. I'll go to the Hewitt location anytime but this location has just gone to the bottom of the barrel. read more

But I've been here several times for the last few months and when we come in, there's no tables available in the bar - not because they're taken. But because they're not even cleaned to sit there. We've been cleaning them ourselves because just no one comes out to do it at all. On top of that, the service is worse than shitty. We waited twenty minutes tonight to just order drinks. And only saw our server again to bring us our checks. They're not running around to other tables - they just aren't there. Nope. The weird tiny meatball pellets they seem to be famous for just don't work for me. There is a metric crap-ton of them on the pizza, so they do not skimp, and I guess there is a lot of protein there but the meatball taste and texture is odd and unsatisfying. As a New Yorker for most of my life, and an Austinite for 27 years, graced with at least 2 dozen better pizzerias pithing a 15 minute drive, this stop off, though recommended, makes me think it is only rated highly because it's in Waco and the choices seem to be slim on the real pizza front. Oh, and there is an actual confederate flag displayed on the wall, which, had I noticed on the way in, would have aimed me at the exit. HELLO? It's 2020 people! Stopped in on my way through Waco because I had heard a lot about this place. The rumors were true, this place is great. Got there a little after the lunch specials ended but the outstanding waitress let me order it anyway (it was only 5 min after). Got a mini pizza and some wings. The pizza was so good I regretted not getting a bigger one. The toppings were so generous I couldn't keep them on the pizza! We have been coming to this place for years and the past two visits have been horrible, today being the worst.
