Beware of bait and switch!!! Salesperson Carter seemed very knowledgeable. Both wife and myself were interested in Brooks shoes. She was shown Brooks and Oasics based on the way she walks. It was explained these were on sale as they were last years models and were 50% off our BOGO. I was shown a Hokas based on my walk. We were offered BOGO ... one for each or BOGO 2 each. We both selected an additional color but when we went to pay I was informed the shoes I selected were NOT BOGO but full price. I should have walked out then. They had already ring up a pair or so I thought and decided to go ahead and purchase ONE pair. The pair I had on was not the color that I wanted so I had to change. When I returned for switching shoes I discovered they had not ring them up and once again made the mistake of not walking out. Again buyer beware! I love the shoes but I WILL NOT BE BACK! read more

Walked in on a Saturday afternoon, went right upstairs, and was greeted at the top by a crowd of salespeople waiting to help me. One of them took me on as his "project" and sat me down and analyzed my old shoes. Tip #1: Wear (or at least bring) your old shoes when you go in to buy new ones. They'll look at the wear pattern on them and use that to determine what shoe (or insole) you need. He showed me a not-too-ugly (but not-too-cute) pair of shoes and declared that these would be my new pair. I was prepared to buy something horrendously ugly, so I sighed and nodded. Better than I had imagined. Then he said those magic words: "Oh, and it also comes in these two other colors." Hallelujah!! He laced them up for me and sent me on their "track" for a walk and jog. Told me to wear them for a while and then come back in if I'm having pain along the inside of my leg anywhere for a quick insole fix. For a cute, well-fitting shoe, that's definitely a can-do. Tip #2: Be prepared to spend a lot of time here. Not so much waiting to be helped as being helped. They'll take a lot of time with you to explain why they're putting you in the shoe they're putting you in, and they'll answer all your obscure questions patiently. There's no sense that you're being rushed out the door. I've always been a Luke's customer and have never gone to Run On, so I can't make any comparisons, but Luke's has made me such a happy customer...I don't see any reason to look elsewhere! Tip #3: If you buy new shoes in February or March (the guy I talked to was unsure which month exactly), you can bring in your old ones and donate them to the Katy Trail for a 10% discount on your purchase. (You can donate your old shoes any time, but they only give a discount during those months.) read more

I walked out of Luke's Locker with a new pair of running shoes and feeling like I just met up with my bff-- the visit was totally easy and no pressure ^^ The staff there is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. They watch you walk and run around the store to see how you run in order to match you up with a shoe (It's like finding a soulmate for your foot!). And you don't even need to tie your own laces; they ask you to place your foot on their rolling platform chairs tuck in your feet and dress it up in the shoe! Teresa helped me out that day, and although I have flat feet, she noticed that my feet don't roll inwards, which is common for flat-footers. Purchased the new hoka carbon x 3. Days ago, I ran on them 5-7 miles them started getting a pain on my left foot. I new then I would be the shoe that was defective. i stopped using them immediately to return them. So I did. Matt help me and from past experiences with him I knew where that was going. He started asking me all kinds of question. how did I know it was the shoe, and if he was to give me a new pair how did he know that would fix the issue. Mmm well Matt I told him. I have no idea if it will but I want that same shoe, i didn't want a refund I wanted a new pair. Then he got upset bc of course I'm not stupid, so after a few more comments he said okay. I'm only doing this one time exchange. Mmm i asked why ? Long story short he gave me a pair and I asked for my original receipt which he asked what for. I just told him in case I need to return them. I made a purchase 3 (three) days ago and tried to return today, but was told that because they filed chapter 11... 'legally', they're not allowed to accept returns - even though my receipt clearly states I have 30 days. Somehow they can 'legally' sell merchandise and 'legally' mislead customers. Apparently, they've known this for a while but continue to mislead customers. Even as I stood there with Judy, who told me she was the store manager, at no point did they inform new customers nor was there a sign that acknowledged this. This is unacceptable and companies shouldn't be allowed to engage in deceptive business practices and punish innocent and unsuspecting customers for their legal and/or financial issues. read more

I had to come here for packet pick up for the color run. It was a confusing mess. There was a group of people standing outside with no direction...I learned after a few minutes that I was in a line to buy socks. Socks. Not kidding. I head inside and was directed to a line where they gave me my race number and then they stick you in another line to get everything else. It just seemed so spread out. The place was busy considering most people in there weren't picking up packets but shopping. Their selection of clothes was nice though, some really cute stuff. Parking could be a hassle due to it being in a smaller plaza, unsure if traffic was due to packet pickup or generally every day busyness. I went mid-day on a Saturday. Lastly, the location. Note this is on the corner of Mockingbird and 75. There is a 3046 W Mockingbird Ln...and that is NOT it. Can you tell I drove to the wrong place? Mockingbird Ln traffic is no joke...don't make the same mistake I did. (: I don't mean to bash Luke's Locker at all with this review especially since my issue may not even have been their fault. I would contemplate heading here when in need for new running shoes (which I just bought...elsewhere). read more

I got fitted for new running shoes and now I feel like I'm running on pillows! I have never been "fitted" for running shoes before. I know what size shoe I wear, so that's what size running shoe I bought. Little did I know, your foot expands throughout the day and gets bigger while you're running. The nice gentleman at Luke's Locker informed me of all kinds of interesting information about running shoes (for example, new versions of shoes come out each year because the materials used to make the shoes have a shelf life) and sold me the type of shoe I liked in the correct size (a half size bigger). At first I thought my new shoes would make me look like I had huge feet, but now I can run so fast no one will notice how big my shoe is. I also asked about some shoe strings I found that would make it so I don't have to tie the shoe all the time, but he told me good technical reasons why it's just better to use the shoestrings that come with the shoes. I appreciated that he told me the truth instead of trying to sell me a product that really wasn't needed. I'll definitely go back to Luke's Locker for my future running shoes. The only thing I wish they had is some type of computerized check-in system for people who want to get in the queue for shoe fittings. I had to stand around and look lost for a few minutes before I finally saw the man with a clipboard who was putting names on the list. read more

I love the expertise of the Luke's staff! Anytime I go to Luke's they are are so friendly and helpful, and they never pressure me to buy anything (although it's rare I don't leave with at least a few items). They have an extensive selection of clothing, socks, accessories, general running gear and supplements (gels, drinks, energy bars, gummies, etc.). They can answer questions regarding sizing, durability and styles of various clothing items and brands. I have been fitted 3 times now for running/ walking shoes. My first couple of pairs was for my first half marathon, and the shoes did great! Not one blister the entire training season in the Dallas summer temps, nor on race day in the Kona heat and humidity! For my fall training season I wanted to work on running more and needed new shoes again, so the associate who helped me checked my wear pattern, observed my gate, used a fancy iPad app while I ran on the treadmill and found me a pair of shoes based on his observations. I loved them the first week or so, but then I started having knee problems and had to stop training. I thought initially it was too much running, too fast, but I eventually figured out through trial and error that low-and-behold, it was the shoes. Maybe the smart app wasn't so smart after all... I took the shoes in after the valid return period, but hardly worn due to my multiple hiatuses, and they helped me to not only get the correct pair of shoes for me, but gave me a significant discount/ credit because I brought the others back that weren't working. Because of their help and customer service, I'll remain a customer of theirs for the long haul. read more

OK.....I'm a fan again. I stopped shopping here awhile back because a lady who worked the register during the week was cold and unfriendly. Spending $200 - $300 per visit - the least she could do is smile or say thank you. The running shoe selection at Luke's is the best in Dallas. They usually have the newest and greatest in stock. Their sales staff in the shoe department usually recommends a shoe based on your sport, size, and stride. The new location on Mockingbird is much better. It's spacious and the parking lot is bigger. I can't say enough good things about Luke's Locker. I went in looking for some new shoes because my old athletic shoes were falling apart. The salesman, Ray, looked at my shoe and could immediately tell that my foot was turning outward and causing some problems. He recommended a shoe that would support my foot and stop it from turning outward. after getting a shoe with a perfect fit for me, he led me to a table where Jason from DFW Feet was waiting to give me a custom fit Orthic! He made me an insert for my shoe at an very affordable price right there! The store is ok and the staff is friendly indeed. They have a decent selection but the shoe/gait analysis is nothing special and its somewhat pricey. I've heard the training lacks one on one attention and individual needs. Also competitiveness during runs can outweigh the importance of injury prevention and not over-training. Great place to pick up a Turkey Trot packet though. Disclosure: I'm a fan of, and run with, Run-On Dallas (also the current 4sq mayor) so we'll see if this gets thru the yelp algorithm . I took one star off because I wandered in the store, on the bottom level, and no one came up to me (when I actually NEEDED a salesperson) to show me where to go or help me out. Once I got upstairs, I wandered a bit more, and finally caught someone's attention. The staff (once they noticed me) were really friendly and helpful. I explained the problems I'd had and showed the salesperson (I forget his name!) the shoe I was running on. He had me take off the shoes and walk, then jog around so he could look at how my feet were behaving during my stride. Turns out, I've been wearing the wrong damn pair of shoes. Maybe THAT explains the knee pain. The salesguy found several pairs of shoes for me to try out. I ended up getting a pair (on sale!) - I've run on them several times...and the difference is SO lovely. The shoes aren't the prettiest I've ever seen, but they're silver and neon green Nikes, and I love them. read more
