I'm a pro at purchasing any kind of shoes, EXCEPT workout shoes. So you can understand my dilemma when I needed new running shoes right? Unfortunately i went to a non Luke's locker before I came to this location and they were not helpful so you can see how happy I was when I walked into this location. The guy that helped me was Tyler and he knew his stuff. He fitted me just right into some new turquoise Brooks running shoes and I'm pretty happy. he knew what to look for to make sure my foot was supported with the arch and to make sure I was comfortable with the sizing. Going forward I'l l be buying my workout shoes from here as they certainly know what they are doing. read more

Snapshot: Running Shoe Options 4/5, Apparel Selection 4/5, Service 3/5. Today was my first time in Luke's and I have mixed emotions. My friends highly recommended it based on their service and I was a bit disappointed. Maybe it was early or they were busy but I didn't feel like they took a vested interested or provided running shoe options. I explained my running style after I picked out two pairs and he didn't suggest anything or give any additional info. On the other hand, the apparel team was extremely helpful and offered ideas. If you're looking for a tight knit group of runners to pound the pavement with I definitely suggest you hit up Luke's Locker! They have all kinds of neat training programs, from the 5K distance to full marathon. Something for everyone! They also hold weekly social runs from the store. As far as the apparel goes, this store has the best stuff around and a variety of running shoes to choose from! Ask a specialist and they will help you find the right fit and even help you with your running form. Trust me, they know their stuff here. I needed a Patagonia R1 fleece hoodie. I called to ask if they were the largest Lukes Locker in Dallas, yes they said. I SHOULD have asked if they had what I needed. My big mistake. That's not the problem with this visit. I asked for the hoodie, not 10 feet into the store, not 10 seconds into the store. The answer was no, everything went to the Cowtown Marathon. That was it. Buh, bye, pretty much. No offers of what they could do for us in the future, no 'let's call another store'...... Very poor salesgirl. Store appeared empty of merchandise. I do not know if we will ever go back. I do not think they care whether we do or not. read more

Not only does this store carry the best in fitness gear, the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. They spend time fitting you and have an exceptional return policy. They offer many levels of training for all types of events, classes, and group runs. These are great ways to meet other enthusiasts, push yourself to reach new goals, and to keep in shape. read more

My physical therapist suggested I go here and buy some new tennis shoes. Ray was absolutely great! He is so knowledgeable and genuinely cares about helping his customer. He ended up helping me find the best shoe for my flat foot that has resulted in several knee and hip problems. I went to Luke's based upon the Yelp ratings, and was not disappointed. The store was busy, but someone took the time to welcome me and asked me for my patience until a someone was available to help me. Chris helped me and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable, not pushy, open about price, and very interested in how I wore my shoes before ever having me try anything on. He went through 5 different shoes before I found the ones which fit me the best. I am very happy that I have found Luke's Locker, and will recommend it to my friends. I'm a pretty low maintenance customer but I'm a stickler for a fairly prompt greeting and eventual offer of assistance. After 5 laps around the store- which wasn't even busy- I got neither. The sales staff were extremely knowledgeable about the shoe I needed for work. She didn't ask for my shoe size, she measured my foot. She was very thorough and also recommended the best socks. If you are in need of a pair of running shoes, I recommend going to the Dallas Running Company store instead of this store. I Do not recommend Luke's Locker shoe store to anyone! Because of a bad experience at this store I got a blister on my foot (not once but twice!) while training for the NYC marathon. Salesperson Sean did not go over proper way to tie my newshoes during my first visit to the store to purchase my shoes. He also failed to go over proper socks to wear, how to properly break in the shoes, and did not go over proper shoe care. After my first visit to the store to purchase the shoes I called the store about my blister and the Salesperson who answered the phone asked me if the Salesperson showed me the "runners loop". I said he had me run around the store if that's what she meant. She suggested I come back to the store. I explained that was not what I wanted to do and asked to have the manager/owner call me. After speaking to store manager/owner Matt Lucas and explaining to him I was not explained the runners loop, at the store managers suggestion and after the blister came back again after my second run in the shoes I decided to go back to the store. During the second visit, Salesperson Sean proactively said he told me during my first visit how to tie the shoes which he did not do and then when I told him he didn't he proceeded to argue with me. He explained to me I might need thicker socks. I showed him my socks during my first visit and he said nothing about this. Then he proceeded to try to get me to buy a new pair of socks after I had just spent well over 200 on shoes and compression sleeves. On the way home I called the owner/manager and left a message for him to call me back. I explained all of this to him. He did not take any ownership for my bad experience or for the fact that I had to make 2 trips to the store, or my blister. He asked me what I wanted him to do about it. My feelings were if he's the owner he should know what to do. He should offer a gift card another gesture for the not only the bad experience but the time and gas I had to spend making 2 trips to the store. Needless to say I will not go back to this store. Spare yourself the same miserable experience I had which remains unresolved. Go to Dallas Running Company or Ft Worth Running Company instead. I was referred to Duncan because he's apparently a master in sizing up your movements and feet with the right shoe. He watched me walk and run. He measured my foot. Then he brought out two pairs of shoes. We put one pair on my right and the other on my left. I walked around in them. It was clear from the get-go that the pair on my right fit extremely well. Within 10 minutes, I walked out of the door here with shoes that supported me way better than my old Nikes ever had. I tested the new shoes by running around the neighborhoods of Highland Park. It was the best run I've had because my feet felt supported. This happened back in May, and I am still very happy with my purchase. read more

Great experience purchasing running shoes after a long lapse in exercising. The salesperson took time to look at my gait and talk about things that are hurting to find the right shoes. Even stayed after closing to show me foam roller stretches that could help counteract the issues I was noticing. Another salesperson stayed late to help other customers too. I'm an avid runner and my go to running shoes aren't in production anymore. I walked in, sat down, and was greeted within 10 seconds. Ten minutes later the very knowledgeable rep had me trying on three pairs of shoes that matched what I normally run in perfectly. The hardest part was deciding on which ones! A runner herself, she told me all of the technical details of each shoe and why they were good/bad. If I lived here I would go there every time to buy my shoes. Nothing but great things to say about this store! I was referred to Luke's locker by my doctor. I told her I was having lower back, knee, and ankle pain during my running. She told me to purchase a better set of running shoes from this store. I honestly thought she was being lazy and didn't want to treat my nagging pains. Turns out she was absolutely correct! The store rep analyzed my running style, and found me a pair of shoes that I would've never chosen for myself. They worked like a charm. I running longer, training harder, and improving my mile times weekly. All with no nagging pains. It's amazing the difference a good pair of shoe can make. They products are a tad pricey, the results are totally worth it. You cant put a price on the feeling of a good workout! I will be a life long Luke's customer for all of my training needs. read more

There's a reason you go to the professionals... and they ARE professionals... really know their stuff! Went in today for shoe fitting and walked away with a great pair. I started jogging again this weekend, but have been having a hard time getting back into running since my ankle fracture 18 months ago. After 30 minutes pounding today, the ankle was quite sore medially and I decided it was time for new shoes for at least the shock absorption. The sales guy (sorry, forgot his name) looked at my feet, asked about any problems I had been having, watched me walk around barefoot, measured, then brought me a pair of Saucony I hadn't tried. I put them on and stood up and had immediate relief from the ankle pain... all I can say is wow! Apparently that ankle rolls in now as I walk, so this pair of Saucony have huge arch support which straightened it up. He watched me jog a bit, gave the seal of approval, and I was on my way. I tried them out briefly on the street when I got home and they make a world of difference! Also, ladies.... they have one of the best selections of jogging bras I've found.... (sorry guys, no more bouncing)... and excellent customer service there as well. I hate going into Academy or Sports Authority and digging through racks trying to find what I need. Here, I told her what I was looking for, went into a dressing room... and she just kept bringing them until I found the perfect fit. This is now my go-to sports shop. read more

I've always been a distance runner. It's the only thing about my exercise regimen that has always remained constant. I might miss a day of weights here or skip a spin class there - but running is always something I've done on my schedule. Now that I've gotten older, however, my body's started to react differently in the form of new aches, pains, stiffness and random pops. Bad knees, hips and back run in the family and I feared having to give up the run. After all, I drink and eat like a pig and running seems to be the only thing between me and a lifetime of elastic waistband pants. Enter Luke's Locker. I brought in the running shoe I've been running in for years (the same brand and style, not the same shoe). The salesperson seemed almost enthusiastic about taking my old shoes to examine the wear pattern. . .I run 20-30 miles a week without socks, you can imagine the funk on a 6 month old pair. After a cursory glance of my shoe and then at me and then back at my shoe. . .and then back at me, and a couple questions about my running habits, the salesperson brought me a new pair of shoes and said that pair would be better on my ankles, hips and knees and alleviate the stress on my lower back. I found it hard to believe that there was a magical pair of shoes that would solve all my issues. . .I figured my problems were greater than that. False. After a couple laps around their track, I could see what they were talking about. It's been four months and I don't have the same aches and pops and I can run longer pain-free than I have been able to in a long time. If you're a casual runner, this might not be the place for you. If you're serious about running or your health while running and you don't mind paying a little bit of a premium, do yourself a favor and make the trip. read more

It has always been difficult for me to find a good running shoe but he really took the time and brought out several shoes to try on till we got the right one! He was awesome! I tried giving him a tip for the great experience but he didn't accept he said he loves what he does and as long as I liked what I got he was good. That was just awesome! read more

If you're looking for some stylish and expensive running gear, then get yourself over here. I'm sure the quality is great, and they carry some namebrands like underarmor and nike. I was mostly interested in the sale racks because I am cheap and refuse to pay $100 for running pants. There were about 3 sales racks with pants, shorts, running shirts, and bras, most of which contained XXL or XS sizes or kind of ugly styles. I did not find anything to purchase at this store, but I think if you came at the right time when they put new things on sale or clearance, you could possibly hit the spandex jackpot. read more

Hands down the best running store I have ever been to. I have tried several running stores in Austin, Dallas, San Francisco, and New York City. To date, I have not found another store with staff who are as knowledgeable about running shoes and fitting as the staff at Luke's Locker. They understand that some brands run wide, some run narrow, some run a size small, etc, and they have an intuitive understanding of which shoes might be good for you. I've tried both the Dallas and the Plano locations for this store, and the quality of the staff is consistent in both locations. It's clear that the people that work at these stores are real runners who take the sport seriously, not random people who were given an hour long crash course, as it seems some are in other stores. Also, best of all, they even carry hard-to-find sizes for the weird among us (like me). Keep up the good work! read more

In the last year, I have become a HUGE fan of Luke's. Their training programs and their customer service are top notch. I've been in their 925k program that takes you from a couch potato to running/walking a 5k, and I'm currently signed up for their half marathon program. The trainers in both have been awesome - motivating, encouraging, and they are always more than willing to answer your questions and help you troubleshoot any issues you are having. The program is so good that I find myself actually getting up at 4:30am on Saturday mornings for our group trainings, something I wasn't sure I would be that diligent about to be honest. You also get some great perks with their programs including coupons for a one-time 20% off your entire purchase and 10% off all your remaining purchases during your program, a training shirt, and sometimes free classes at other fitness facilities nearby. The store itself is also awesome. Every time I'm here or call in, I talk to someone who is friendly, cheerful, and eager to help. All the employees in the shoe department are great, but if you have any stubborn issues, come in and see Chris Greene. He has such an attention to detail and will make sure to get you in the perfect shoe and talk to you about the issues you are experiencing and how to potentially make them better. I'm hoping to also do their personal fitness test once it's offered at this location as well, but I don't think that program is up and running yet. They also hold several nutrition, foam rolling, and fitness clinics each month. Just check the store calendar in the middle of the store. No matter what your running needs are, Luke's has you covered. Highly recommend! read more

This has got to be the best store in the world for athletic shoes. My feet have a weird size, which they discovered by taking the time to see how certain shoes fit, and they did there best to get my size shoes. Even when they couldn't they provided me with how to find them direct from the manufacturer. They went far above and beyond with customer service and I didn't spend a dime there. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and they took the time to find out what you need instead of pushing something on you that you wouldn't like. They are a bit on the pricey end but thats not a complaint, they are well worth it. read more

I recently needed a new pair of running shoes and thought since I have heard such great things about Luke's Locker I would try it out. I have ankle problems which makes it challenging to find the right pair of shoes that both offer the stability that I need and are comfortable. I must have tried on 10-12 different pairs of shoes, but the salesperson was patient and genuinely wanted me to find just the right pair. He was extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations which is virtually unheard of if you buy shoes from the traditional places like Footlocker or Finishline. Overall, the prices were comparable, the selection was good (Although obviously only for running shoes), and the service was great. I will definitely go back for my next pair. read more

Went here on a Sunday and the place was PACKED. As in, I think they dropped off a school bus full of kids packed. There was a sign in sheet to get help in the event you needed a shoe, so you can imagine what we did....we walked out and headed to Run On where we found the shoes we needed on the clearance rack. Dont know if or when I will return. If I do, it surely won't be on a sunday. read more

Visited Luke's today and had Ray help us. He immediately identified the issue I was having (supination) by watching me walk. I told him I liked a certain brand because I was used to it. He had me try it then his two suggestions. His suggestions were infinitely better. Nothing compares to a Luke's fitting! Highly recommend Ray. I had been having pain in my feet for several months while running and jogging. I went in and Matt spent a good 30 to 40 minutes helping me get fitted for some shoes. I decided on a pair (what I thought worked, but not the original pair Matt recommend) and left. The first time running in them, the pain was there but not as much. I brought them back and they got me into a different pair that are great (the first ones Matt had chosen for me). I'll trust my gut on most decisions, but I'll most certainly trust my feet to Luke's! read more

I think its important to support local businesses and I recently spent well over $500 in apparel with this particular location. One of the items I purchased was a Nike dry fit top. The price tag had been attached very close to the seam of the shirt, so to avoid ripping the shirt by pulling the tag, I cut the tag and ended up making a tiny cut in the shirt anyway...totally my fault, I understand. I went into the same location explaining what had happened and asked if anything could be done since the tag had been attached so close to the seam. The women who helped me were understanding and very nice but they had to ask the owner/manager (not sure what his title is to the store). After the environment became noticeably uncomfortable and no one would look me in the eye and give me an answer, the woman at the front desk went over to the man (owner/manager?) herself and said "this woman cut her shirt" to which he replied "so I heard." The woman then came back over to me, as if I couldn't hear him, to let me know they would not be doing anything about the shirt situation. To clarify, my issue is not that he wouldn't exchange the shirt, I knew going in that would most likely be the answer but if you don't ask, you don't know. My issue is how this man (manager/owner?) dealt with the situation. He easily could have told me himself while he was standing there skimming his sandwich menu instead of making the third employee ask him the same question over again. But his passive answer of "so I heard" as he continued to read the sandwich menu instead of look up at the employee who was trying to get an answer for me is what really irritated me. He was so disrespectful to me and to his employee who asked him a question. Everyone at least deserves to be looked in the eye and given a direct answer. The final piece of advice that was given to me is that I should take the issue up with Nike....noted. So much for supporting a local business. read more

I am so impressed with Luke's Locker! I have had a long journey trying to find new running shoes. My husband and I who have always been runners have been training for our first half post baby. I first purchased a pair from another store called fleet feet which had a similar system for fitting shoes. They were so small that my feet were bleeding after my first long run in them. I decided to go to Luke's locker to replace them. The salesman sized me and said I was in a full size too small and put me in an 8. He was very nice and was patient with me while I decided what to do. Unfortunately I never checked the box after I bought them. I ran in them for a month and my terrible blisters were just getting worse. The NIGHT BEFORE my half (after a month of running in them) I decided to check the size and somehow the salesman sold me a 7 1/2 instead of an 8. Knowing it was partially my fault for not bothering to check the size, I called to explain the situation and the salesman I spoke to (Jonathan) immediately told me there was no problem and to bring them in to get a new pair. I am so impressed because I believe they are passionate about running and finding the right shoes for each customer. They also seem to know the value of a returning customer- I will only be shopping here for shoes from now on! read more
