We have given this restaurant multiple chances over the years to win us over, because the location is so amazing. But every time something goes wrong. We were there two nights ago and my husband's order was great (he ordered a $22 sandwich plate). I, however ordered the seafood pasta (a $49 plate). I realized after eating some of it, that there was no crab. After two times talking to the chef, the server just claimed "he said it's in there. It's just mixed in." A flat out lie. Well, we again told him there was absolutely no crab in there, and he just stood by what the chef had said. They did not attempt to make good on it at all. This place was popping with people they said our table was an hour wait so we went to the bar and got served right away. We had two drinks which were so refreshing. The balcony view was super beautiful as well. You had to wait for an elevator to get into the restaurant and sometimes there would be a line of people waiting for it. On a Monday night it was kind of loud since it was Monday night football. Keep that in mind if you are on a date and want to hear each other talk. Our server was nice, helpful, and checked on us many times. For the drinks they honestly weren't that great. And the food, I enjoyed the scallop BLT, the salad dressing was good. The brussel sprouts had a good flavor but it was super duper sticky, like the bacon was so hard to chew and was getting stuck to my teeth. I wished the brussel sprouts were more crispy. But the menu needs to be updated correctly for the gluten free recommendations. I saw past reviews saying that people with celiac came here and tried their calamari and didn't get sick. They were lucky! I clarified with the waitress and she said that the oil is crossed contaminated with gluten items that get deep fried! Scaryyy for someone like me who gets very sick. So anything with a GF - beware and double check! If it's deep fried it's probably not safe. We had it in our heads that if it was up on the top floor then it must be a high end steak house (you know, cloth napkins, candles, piano player in the corner). But it was more like just a bar. We checked out the menu and saw mostly bar food (burgers, fried stuff, etc.) One the last page, there were three steak dishes and three seafood dishes. We decided we'd have a drink and an appetizer then keep walking around. I ordered a dirty martini, my gal pal ordered a Bad Mom Bellini (she was feeling guilty for leaving her son with a sitter), and we order the beer battered jalapeño poppers. OMG!! First, the dirty martini was the best I'd ever tasted! Just the perfect ratio of vodka to olive juice. The poppers were perfectly fried. My friend said if they can get the poppers right, the other food must be good. We stayed. We both ordered the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and carrots. AWESOME!! I used the last piece of meat to sop up everything left on the plate. Best steak I had in quite a while (Well, since Mother's Day when I had a great steak). The service was spectacular. I think our waitress's name was Karen or Karina (definitely a "k" name). She comped us a Creme Brule with a birthday sparkler on top. Excellent dinner. We hosted our company dinner at Luke's in their private room for a group of 40 adults. We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the following: 1. Room set-up was absolutely clean and beautiful. They also thoughtfully displayed our company logo on the projector and printed out customized paper menus for each person. 2. The food was AMAZING. We ordered the Robins Nest Chicken, Seafood Pasta, Finn's Filet Trio, Salmon, and Stuffed Portobello mushroom as well as the Chef's VIP app platter. They were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions (gluten-free, veggie, and vegan) with ease. 3. We had private access to the fire pit on the balcony and the private dining room is neatly sealed off from the rest of the restaurant so there really is no interaction from guests not part of our event. 4. Communication with Kelly was easy breezy once we were able to get a hold of her (it was a little touch-and-go at the initial inquiry - see below for more on that). 5. There is no room rental fee or a pre-set menu as many other establishments often require for private parties. It was easy to customize the drink and menu options to our preferences. 6. We requested the private room until 9:30P that night, but some of our guests lingered until 10-10:30P. Kelly and her staff were great at letting us hang out a bit longer and didn't rush us out. Everyone was nice and attentive all evening. 7. The built-in A/V system is free of charge and perfect for running a slideshow or presentation for your private event. Below are a few items that could have run smoother: 1. I initially inquired about hosting the private event here via their website. I sent two electronic requests AND called into the restaurant over a two week period of time until I was able to get a response. Totally get that they run a busy restaurant and maybe the delayed response was a fluke this time, but nonetheless, waiting two weeks for an initial response from the Luke's team was a bit long. I started to look at other venue options because of the initial delay. 2. While I understand wanting to preserve food quality by only making-to-order, for a large party, I think taking orders ahead of time would be more time efficient. Our group arrived at 6P and dinner was not served until 8P. We appreciated Kelly running through each of our selected menu items and giving more detail on how things are prepared or sourced that night, but I think this information could have been provided in writing so we can then disseminate it to our own team ahead of time. If the Luke's team knew, for example, that there would be 13 chickens, 15 filets, and 4 pastas ahead of time, they could just time the orders to come out on time. People mingled and drank so it wasn't a big deal to most people, but I know my bosses got a little antsy wondering what was taking so long. All in all, don't hesitate to book your private event here. Despite the two hiccups I noted, if my company is in town again, we would definitely come back to Luke's! read more

Luke's is a beautiful restaurant with fourth floor views of Old Town Temecula. At night when fire places are lit, the ambience is especially nice. Today the nonprofit organization where I volunteer reserved the private room for our board meeting. The room is lovely, with access to the outdoor patio where there is seating and a fire place and more great views of Old Town. The room easily accommodated 29 of us, with room to seat more. And best of all, Luke's provided the private room to us for free! Thank you Luke's! We had one server, along with help that brought out our food, and they did an excellent job! Service was quick, food came out quickly, and they accommodated separate checks for all of us. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster. The chicken in my chipotle chicken wrap was dry and tasteless. Others also mentioned dry chicken in the salad. The truffle Parmesan fries were pretty good. One of the reasons we don't return to Luke's is because the food is just not that great. If I do return again, it will be for a cocktail in the evening, sitting on the patio by a fire and enjoying the view of Old Town. read more
