***What is hip? Tell me, tell me, if you think you know What is hip? If you're really hip The question, "Will it show?" You're into a hip trip Maybe hipper than hip What is hip? OK, so it's been a minute. I came back tonight and I am so glad that I did, brought my buddy Jim. ***Well, this joint is H I P! Thursday night and a good crowd. I get the feeling that they're mostly "regulars" and I can see why. The environment is splendid and the service is top-notch. The World Cup was on, and the crowd was a little jazzed up which made the place rather lively. I have a hard time with the sport since 30,000.000 - 8 year olds play it in North Dakota alone! It just seems a bit pedestrian. There's a couple of food items on the menu that I think are attractive but I was already well fed so I had a pickle spear which was very garlicky and delicious. My beer choice was one of my favorite local makers in this region "PURE PROJECT". Man, this was good: "NEVERENDING WEEKEND" a murky IPA: Aroma: A tropical punch of mango, peach, and bright lime zest. Taste Profile: Lush, sweet notes of pineapple and coconut lead the sip, followed by a crisp and zesty navel orange finish. Mouthfeel: It offers a medium body with a highly drinkable, "juicy" feel. My beer buddy, and good neighbor opted for the "BOCK AMBER" and one of the best values-only 5$ ! THE TASTE IS SLIGHTLY SWEET WITH NOTES OF ROASTED NUTS AND CARAMEL. LIGHTLY HOPPED, THIS AMBER LAGER GOES DOWN SMOOTH. Travis was our kind expert server tonight and also apparently one of the owners. From what I gather Travis and Garth are the proprietors of this fine well executed establishment. Sort of sounds like a country and western duo. But actually, now that I think about it, I'm not certain they aren't? We had a nice chat and Travis was very gracious and told us the intriguing story about how they came up with the name "QUAIL" so be sure to ask, I can only assume he'll indulge you as well. The back room changes from time to time depending on what art show is up. It's a very cozy comfortable spot and nicely decorated. The entire concept is brilliant, right down to the "merch" for sale and expertly curated interior design. This is an elevated scene for Temecula. I'm digging it big-time. I wonder if they ever have a DJ spinning in there or a jazz trio in the back room or something, that would be pretty groovy. Excellent service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The whole place has a great vibe. They had tacos by Don Pancho's Taquiza, I ended up getting a quesadillas that were so good they were gone before I remembered to take a picture. The soccer game was on, the customers were friendly and the servers were engaging and attentive. They also have a small bites which is a nice bonus. This place in old town is a hidden gem. I came in with a friend to grab a drink and this place was perfect for that. We went in when it wasn't too busy yet. But as we stayed longer, it started to get busier. The bartender that served us was really nice and helpful in picking a good beer to drink. My friend likes pilsners and I like wheat beer and they definitely had both. There are small bites but we ended up getting chips and salsa. I was surprised by the price but then got a big container of salsa. It was a really nice and modern place to drink. I like the back room but my friend and I drank outside in the patio since it was a nice day. There is lots of seating outside for big groups, inside looks pretty small but has that extra back room. I'm sure you want the truth. Counter guy was nice and tried to be helpful. Good with that. Inside has limited sitting but otherwise is only ok. Sat in a lounge type room with couches. Not great for eating at. Ordered chips & salsa, flatbread pizza. Chips & salsa. Seemed like they were direct from the local supermarket. The salsa was even still in the original plastic container with a price sticker on it. Pizza may have been a frozen one from the same supermarket. I had a verified frozen pizza the other day that was better than this one. Beers were fine. I agree that the list is good with many unusual choices. Like that. Might be an OK place to sit in the patio and have a few beers. Then go get lunch or dinner somewhere else We were only customers at 12:30pm(?). Maybe that should have told me something? We love the Quail! We discovered this spot when we moved from San Diego and were missing the local breweries. This place has an amazing selection of rotating taps, wine, and even juice boxes for the kids. Everyone working is super friendly and knowledgeable. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious. What a fantastic time I just had with a large womens group visiting Quail, a hip little beer & wine bar in the heart of Old Town Temecula, on the ground floor in the same building as Gambling Cowboy. They serve interesting beers, ciders, meads, seltzers, as well as local Temecula wines. While they also offer some small bites, we brought in a spectacular charcuterie board from nearby Grazing Theory. Quail has a beautiful, bright and comfy back room that was perfect for our group, and a great back patio to boot. As an aside, the gorgeous inky blue walls with the light streaming through the windows was so perfect for photos. It was a first visit there for most in our group and Garth took great care of us. There are so many hidden gems here in Temecula and this is definitely one to check out. Thanks Quail, I'll definitely be back! read more

I came in here with my cousin since it was recommended to me from a local bar we went to. I honestly had a great time here! I got the Mango Tajin Gose from Owlfarm and it was delicious, my cousin got the Night Dip Oatmeal Stout and she loved it too. If you are wanting a spot to enjoy some great drinks and be able to converse with your friends then look no further than Quail. It is tucked off the Main Street in old town Temecula and when you enter you truly step into another atmosphere. The bartenders are awesome, greeting you with a smile and are also helpful to those who are a tiny indecisive on what they're feeling to drink. My wife and I brought a couple of friends here and we were able to grab drinks and catch up in the process. Will definitely make another stop here. read more

History

Established in 2023.

Quail’s story starts when Travis was managing a local brewery and Garth was peddling graphic design services to the craft beer industry. A friendship formed over good beer, shared music interests, and entrepreneurial fantasies. After months of research and planning to start a craft brewery were dashed by reality, the Temecula Valley Cheese Company abruptly shuttered its doors. A quick call followed by a lunch meeting set the wheels in motion. Keys were acquired on June 1, 2023, and the doors opened to the public on September 15 of the same year. As for the name — we get asked this question a lot. After shooting down several options, we landed on Quail and knew it was the one. Quail are abundant in the Temecula Valley, and the name captures the Old Town and Southern California vibe perfectly — welcoming, lively, and communal. We built Quail to be a place where friends gather, conversations flow, and everyone feels like a regular. We hope you enjoy Quail as much as we do.

Drinks will be a bit more expensive here ranging from 22-25 dollars, but the price is more than justified as some are customized to your exact desired taste profile. My server Jackie even went the extra mile and had bartenders slightly amend my drink to ensure it was the exact flavor profile I wanted. I'd reccomend this winery to anyone who is in the area!

Our group brought along lots of yummy small bites to accompany our tastings of Pamec's natural wines using wild yeasts and minimal intervention. Anthony was our server extraordinaire. He was so knowledgeable, patient, super friendly and such a great ambassador for Pamec. Bonus points for the sweet wine menu - all Pamec wines are named after Temecula animals, with each label explaining why that animal represents the wine. I was especially intrigued by their Pét Nat (Pétillant Naturel or "naturally sparkling"), made with their Vermentino grapes using the ancestral method of bottling before the initial fermentation is complete. Fermentation continues in the bottle and the result: unfiltered, unpretentious, effervescence with a side of spunk! And with a low 9% ABV, it was the perfect casual patio-sipping wine for a sunny, post-thunderstorm kind of day! Pamec is a great wine bar addition to Old Town and I'm looking forward to stopping in again!
