My husband went in wanting to look at the BMW's and the only salesman there told him "no we stop at 5 o'clock" and when my husband asked to see the car and that man said "don't you want to go home ? I want to go home" my husband said if he can make an appointment on the weekend or something and that rude ass employee just said yeah ok and didn't write anything down didn't even get a name. I'm so disappointed, we were desperate to buy a car but I'm definitely not buying it from this dealership. WARNING to anyone whose thinking about purchasing a car from these ppl!!!!!! My fiance and i went in to look at a 2013 ford edge in grey color and we were dealing with Jared. I got the carfax and in 2014 it was previously in an accident with all air bags deployed he has done numours of repairs on the car. My fiance is also a mechanic so i had him inspect the car for me. I test drove it, thought about it. I had my fiance plug in his scanner and it thru a bad code for the catalytic converter. He wouldnt provide me any proof that there were airbags were properly replaced. The man sells cars but doesnt know a damn thing about them? He tried to lie his way out of selling us a lemon. Dont trust jared they out for the clout and remember always bring a scanner with you if you do purchase any car!!! read more

Went to check out a Mazda Winning Blue 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5, with 19,000 miles, that they have on their lot today (7-21-14). The staff was shady, rude, and patronizing. They wouldn't take me seriously at all. "Fine, whatever, I'll only have to deal with them once. I don't want to pass on this great car" is what I thought. Until, I asked for a test drive, to which, they adamntly refused. Saying, "we don't have the time for joyrides, unless you're buying the car." I told them that I was and was willing to sign whatever was needed to test drive it to make sure it was OK before I buy. Still, they refused. Changing their story to something about how their insurance won't let them. At this time, I asked for them to just start the engine since things were becoming suspicious. He replied, "Why don't you come back with your Mom?" and went back inside. (FYI I'm in my late twenties and look even older due to my large beard) I spoke with the sales manager, Matt, about the terrible service. He was offended that I had even dared to ask to turn the engine on and went on to say, "...that Miata will sell anywhere in the country, sight unseen!" And that they "...don't talk to people who walk in off the street" Either, these guys think they're God's gift to cars and that everyone should be honored to even be on their lot. Or, they are trying to hide known problems in their cars. TL;DR These are the guys that give used car salespersons their bad reputation. read more

I went to the dealership to buy a car, drove all the way from Portland and found myself standing around in the car lot not being served. Finally when someone came over they just simply walked away it didn't seem like they were really motivated to sell a vehicle despite me being there to purchase a $55,000 truck. I do still want the truck however I am reluctant to return because of the poor service I received when I was there. I'm not sure if I would recommend anybody to visit this car company in SalemI am upset I am driving home now without the vehicle I went out there to purchase despite having a credit and the ability to pay for it. The finance manager general manager seem to have other things going on. I would not recommend this dealership unless you could possibly deal with the owner or someone else read more

I recently bought a truck from Chris Brustad and have had a horrible experience. Less than 48 hours after I bought the truck I was broken down on the side of the highway. I tried calling Chris Brustad but he was not available to take my call so I left a message and told the person who answered what happened and that it was urgent. I have yet to hear from anyone from Lulays. At this point I have spent over $8000 just to keep the truck driving. I would definitely not recommend buying a vehicle from Lulays to anyone! Just bought a car from Chris yesterday. This is not your typical dealership. There was no pressure to buy, no BS extra charges, no undercoating or other stupid stuff added to the cost, etc. Financing was a breeze. The bank was getting ready to close, and he called every extension until he got someone on the phone to get the loan approved with a great interest rate. There is 1 issue that held me back from giving Lulay's a 5-star review. As much as I wanted to give a 5-star review, I would think that for how long they've been in business that they would know better to sell a vehicle with locking hubs and not provide the key. Just a few days of purchase, I noticed the truck with a flat tire parked at home. So what do I do? I immediately remove the spare, jack up the truck and attempt to remove the lug nuts when I noticed one of them to be a locking lug. After 10 minutes of looking inside and out for the key, it was nowhere to be found. Nor did Lulay's have a clue where it was. So after all that work I let the truck down, put the spare back under the bed and inflated the tire to drive it down to the nearest Schwabs. This resulted in me taking unwanted time off work and some frustration. I'm just glad the flat did not occur with my family in the truck when I was in Portland the day prior. As for my reasons providing Lulay's with 4 stars: 1-Customer service, 2-No sales pressure, 3-Quality pre-owned vehicles, and 4-Their vehicles are purchased locally and not from out of state. I would think for their reputation and business history that they would know better to not sell a vehicle without knowing if there is a key for locking lug nuts. I feel that I am being nice enough to give them 4 stars even though I felt like giving them 1 on the day this issue occurred. read more

I just bought my 2011 Nissan maxima only 17,700 miles still has warranty! I took it to power nissan to make sure everything was good with the car and it passed inspection with flying colors!! im so extremly happy and confident with my purchase.I had the pleasure of working with Jared and Todd. Matt patiently answered all our questions, and gave us a realistic idea of what we could expect for the vehicle, what repairs might be needed, and what we would receive on a net basis. Within a day if signing the consignment agreement, we could see our vehicle on the website. They clearly did a good job marketing, as the car sold within less than two weeks, and we received our payment the next day. Terrible experience with this company. They posted a used car on AutoTrader that after running a CarFax report listed there was structural damage. I called and asked for more information and was told it was a fender bender and no big deal. When I asked to provide more information, the salesman, Chris told me if I wanted more information I needed to seek it out myself. After doing the research, the car had been in a major accident. Considering this company has salespeople that lie about major accidents on the records of the cars they are selling I recommend to find a more trustworthy venue to purchase a used car, which is enough of a hassle without pushy, dishonest salespeople make the process more difficult. read more

Excellent Experience! I drove to Salem from Portland to look at a car from the local Salem Toyota dealership and it ended up being a nightmare so I drove by Lulay's on a Sunday. They were closed, but I understand them spending time with their families. I called and left a message saying I was interested in a car they had and asked for details. Promptly Monday morning they called me and I went down to see it Monday evening right close to when they closed. Matt was quite patient and helpful and the car looked as good on the inside and driving it as it did from the outside. We struck up the deal and the next day I came down to pick it up. Dishonest & Untrustworthy!!! I bought my dream car Bentley GT with cash from them and was told that it passed Bentley inspection with flying colors. Come to find out 3 weeks later the car had 12,000 dollars worth of problems. When I confronted them with the Bentley of Beverly Hills diagnosis, they said they would pay 2500.00. What a joke!!!! The absolute worst service I've ever had at a car dealership!! I highly advise you to look somewhere else. They lie about the conditions of their vehicles, and treat you like your an idiot and don't know anything about cars/trucks and engines. We sat and. Listen to the salesman, if you could even call him that, tell us that the truck was hardly ever used for anything but the freeway. As you look down at the ball/tow buckles and port, you could obviously tell that's all the truck had been used for. It was as if it was a huge burden to them to even be showing you the car/truck. Let alone once they heard my friend was pre-approved,They only wanted to deal with their own loan officers. Please, please, please stay away from them. Nobody deserves to be lied and treated they way they treated us. Word of mouth is the best advertisement. So don't waste your time even entertaining the thought of going there. Today I stopped by Lulay's Car Connection on Commercial Street in Salem, Oregon. There was an early model Ford Bronco on the lot that caught my eye and I wanted to look at it. It was positioned like the other cars so I had no idea it was not for sale. I was looking at the vehicle and even opened the passenger door which was not locked. Suddenly Don Lulay (owner) came out and yelled at me saying that it was not for sale and what are you doing opening the door. I apologized saying I thought it was for sale. He did not even ask any additional questions or if I was interested in looking at other cars. I did not appreciate his rude behavior. He should take some sales classes to learn how to treat customers. He acted like I was beneath him and had his nose in the air. He was an arrogant SOB. I will never step foot on his lot again and would not buy from him. Having moved to Salem recently from North Carolina I feel he needs to learn some Southern Hospitality. Sande Kelley read more
