It started the way these stories always do: A luxury car that looked like trouble in heels. She had the curves, the shine, the kind of allure that makes you stop thinking and start believing. Except the first time I met her in a PNW downpour the windshield wiper flapped uselessly like a limp handshake. Replacing the wipers was contractual. Basic safety. A correction to meet the State's prim-and-proper dress code. Still met with a laissez-faire attitude. When I picked her up, her glasses were still broken. I took the fix into my own hands--parts shop on the way home, a couple of tenners, a little elbow grease, done. Next up, the key fob. The emergency key was missing, the kind of detail that only matters when it matters. I brought it up, like an old lover who still believes a wrong turn should end with a nightcap and an apology. Instead, it turned from good cop to bad cop faster than a red carpet turns into a doormat. Then Murphy made a house call. The battery went low. She wouldn't let me in, like a partner who caught me gambling with the rent money. I used my one free call to get a locksmith to bail me out. Time and money burned on something promised on the first date. Next the check engine light blinked into life like it couldn't wait to hand me a bill and a lecture. Still loyal, I went back to them instead of the brand shop off the two one seven. One tip slipped across the bar after another. Reassurance she was safe to take out on the town without having to constantly look over my shoulder. It was just a false trail that kept circling back to the same code I heard on the scanner from day one. I was being led on a wild goose chase and suspected I was the stuffing. After months of silence and no new leads I picked up the phone to reopen the case, like a jilted ex dialing a number I know I shouldn't. The witnesses had "left." The records were "tied up." I was told the specifics about the prior investigation were withheld for "legal reasons." It read like the old standards had left the building, and she'd taken her charm with her. Trusting my first instinct, I took the old girl to the brand shop, the place that spoke her native tongue. They handed me the facts. No passing the buck. No song and dance. Workmanship you could hang your hat on. I'd finally gotten the full meal deal, but I'd lost my wallet in the process. I figured I'd give Freeman one last chance to make things right. I'd played this scene before, back when deals were clean and handshakes meant something. Back then, I had a number in my head and they hit it like a sharpshooter. This time it was a slow middle school dance on a wet gym floor, and every step felt wrong. The numbers didn't add up, even the Kelly Blue Boys gave me the kind of look you save for a three-card monte table. Sure, I could take a bruising, but I hadn't signed up to get rolled. The relationship ended with a love letter that read like a case file, our entire history laid out in black and white, followed by a reply that never came. Freeman was a name I'd trusted since I was a rookie twenty years back, the door I knocked on when I wanted a fair and honest deal, the place I sent friends, family, and associates. Somewhere along the way, it seemed they traded the Freeman name for the Saul Goodman Sunday Special. In this town, some places sell you a promise the way a magician sells you a trick. You watch the shine. You miss the move. I gave them every chance to play it straight, but instead I got a different story each time, ended up with the bills, and found myself alone in the rain without an umbrella. I'm posting this review for my 88 year old mom. We found the 2023 Lexus UX250H online that Freeman Motors listed at $33,500. We drove up there and took it for a test drive. My mom loved it and wanted to buy it at $33,500. But, then they pointed out after the test drive that they added $1500 to the price for special ceramic coating inside and outside the car. My mom didn't care about that and didn't ask about it before the test drive. The advertised price was $33,500. The young, nice, friendly, new sales agent didn't know quite what to say so went and got somebody higher up to explain it. My mom was uncomfortable with this sneaky price increase (her words) of $1500 for a product that you can't see, feel or notice a difference. We waited a good hour for the finance guy to escort us in to his office. He worked hard to upsell her on an extended warranty after telling her he always gets the extended warranties on his 8+ cars/motorcycles/race cars that he owned. I pointed out to him that my mom is 88 years old and drives to Trader Joes, Costco and the bank - about 2500 miles a year.I said no to the extended warranty. She wrote a check and we drove back to the mid-Willamette Valley. That's when we discovered there was no owners manual. I looked in trunk and anywhere else it could be and nothing. I texted the sales rep and she said the previous owner didn't have one in the Lexus. I asked her to ask the detail department and see if it's on somebody's desk. She said she'd get back to me and let me know what she found out. That was over a week ago and she never responded. My mom loves her "new" Lexus but feels slighted and disappointed in the lack of customer service and after care from Freeman Motors. Update: I ordered for my mom a brand new Owners Manual on eBay. Cost: $60. Freeman Motors should have done this. Still no response from them. read more

I purchased a 2017 XC 90 from them on August 30th and traded in my Audi A4 that I purchased from them prior. The sale transaction was fine and there were no issues. Cut to this month and I receive a letter first stating I owe them $60.37 due to a "cancellation from my trade" (mind you they already sold my old car). Then in the second paragraph they note that I need to send a cashier check for $798.40 and if not done by the 3rd request they will send me to collections. Um how did it go from $60.37 to $798.40?!? I have had no communication from them since August and was not made aware of any shortage until November in this poorly written letter. Let me begin by saying I'm no spring chicken. I have over the course of my 50 years purchased many cars, homes, vacation rentals, etc. This will go down as the WORST financial transaction of my life. I have a larger truck and was looking for something smaller to drive around. I went to Freeman Motors after finding a little BMW on their website. It was very reasonably priced. It wasn't tens of thousands of dollars, but it was still a nice-looking car. I contacted the salesperson and set up a test drive. Everything went well, but the vehicle needed a couple things repaired. I was assured by sales it would only be a few days, which I understood. I purchased the BMW on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Understanding the service department is closed on the weekends, I knew it take a couple days. I texted the salesperson on Tuesday afternoon, and she essentially made it seem like I was miss remembering that it would take a few days. But that was not the case, but I said okay and gave my apologies. It'll be a few more days she said. A week goes by and then she says they found a different issue. We had to order the part. Then another week goes by, and the vehicle is not working and needs another part and need to get it fixed again. This went on for four weeks. Finally, I get a call from the service department and was told the car is ready and working great. This is March 25, 2025. We go to get the car, and I ask the service advisor is there anything you can do for me because at this point it's been 25 days, and the clock started day one in terms of the insurance cost and the car payment. He went to the manager. He comes back and gives me some card to get a free detailing. Not happy with that but it's something. He gives me the key and I go out to the car. The car is dirty. No detailing, no vacuuming, less than a quarter tank of gas, they did not even take off the sales stickers. How does that happen? They had the car for nearly a month, and this is how you deliver a car to the customer? At this point, I am done, I just want to go. I drive down the road. My son calls me and says dad you don't have a trip permit. I drive back and get a trip permit. I get the trip permit and within five minutes of leaving the dealership I get onto the freeway and before I even get off the onramp the car starts to smoke and has a check engine light. I drive back to the dealership and when I open the door, the service advisor said oh no he's back. I tell him what happens. He calls his boss. I can hear his boss on the phone saying what did he do to the car. What do you mean what did I do this car? I literally just got the car. So, he says we will get it fixed, was on Thursday, March 27, 2025. I get a text the following Monday, March 31, 2025, the car is ready for pickup. When I get there the service manager tells me they again corrected the issue and to tested and drove the car over 600 miles. Which itself is another issue, wear and tear, but whatever. During the 30 days, not once did I hear from the sales manager and I only heard from the salesperson the first week or so of the transaction. There was no care, no concern, no apologies for the extended delay aside from the service manager. They did not care that I was out hundreds and hundreds of dollars. The transaction was done as far as they were concerned. I tell the service person it's ridiculous. I have essentially paid one month of car payment and one month of insurance for zero return. The one and only positive part of the transaction with a service person. He understood my concern, but nothing came of it. This dealership did not care or have any concern for my situation. Again, this was the worst experience of my life. It has been a week since I finally picked up the car, have I heard from them since? Nope. This tells you they really don't care about their customers and their satisfaction. I would be hesitant on moving forward or contacting this dealership for any automobile transactions. We made an appointment to see and test drive a car after communicating with a sales person for a few days. 10:30 in the morning the sales person said the car was ready to go, all repairs done and it would be waiting . After driving 4 hours to see the car, arriving after 5pm the staff couldn't find the car. Turns out it was on the lift getting a new wheel bearing. Because mechanics were gone they couldn't even bring it off the lift to show us. What a waste of our time! We texted the sale manager and heard nothing back. Yet the sales person continued to call the next day. Start to finish, this place does not value its customers. Horrible service. PS we went to 2 different dealers in Portland calling ahead and both times the car was washed and waiting up front when we got there. Now that's how you sell cars. read more

My wife and I had been looking for a 911 for some time and was almost ready to give when I came across a 2005 911 at freeman motors around 2am. It checked all the boxes for us so I sent a email to Renee and she Responded around 8 am. What really Impressed me the most was she sent video of the 911 which was perfect since I was out of state.The video included a thorough detail of the inside and outside of the 911 along with it sitting at idle. Renee also got us approved through a local Credit union with a great interest rate! Honestly it was the smoothest car purchase we have ever done! The only issue that came up was the shipping.The company they use keep delaying the pickup date of the 911. Other than that it was great! I Hope i can buy a used Cayman from the in the future! These people rock! I bought several cars from them in a short period of time, due totally to the way in which I was treated. Never have I had a great experience dealing with auto sales people, not even one I could rate as average of "Good"....up until now. In a nutshell, I was treated with complete respect, was afforded ample time to inspect and drive each of the vehicles I bought....4 in 4 weeks......that, in and of itself connotes trust and I'm not a trusting person. Prices were fair if not good and with an exceptional service department run by "Dennis the Wizard", I couldn't be happier. I internet researched each of my new "toys" extensively, with the exception of my dream car. NEVER did I think I down an Audi RS7, YAHOO! (Now own two radar detectors......) After walking in and explaining that I was there to check out a specific vehicle that I saw online, he helped me check it out. Andrew was very knowledgeable about the vehicle I was after and made sure all my questions were answered. I would also say that communication was spot on from these guys too. I don't have much experience with the dealership, but my "rave" is for Renee, my "sales agent". I worked with her for about 2 months on a car without ever going to the dealership. I relied on her to advise me about the condition of the car, what was "great" about it and what it needed. She was always prompt with the "facts" and so I felt I knew as much about the car as if I'd gone there to check it out myself. The "deal" was further complicated by my "trade" which was a "classic car" and worth far more than the "market value". However, they had no way to know how it compared to any other "average" version and Renee was able to represent it to Freeman's buyer/appraiser and get the car closer to it's "collector" value. She did all this from 300 miles away and yet, we have never met, face to face. That is all pretty amazing to me. I do not think this could have happened without her. As well as being so competent and gifted, she is gracious, engaging and exudes the virtues of a highly evolved Human Being. Oh yea, I'm very pleased with the car, too. read more

I would like to start by saying I have been in the car business previously for a number of years. I am a car snob. I also expect top-notch customer service due to my years in Retail Sales. In short I am proudly high maintenance when it comes to these things... Jason, Renee and the entire Staff whom I had the opportunity to work with exceeded my expectations. Renee went above and beyond from the initial phone conversation providing me with every bit of information I was interested in, as well as sending me photos of specific areas of interest. I was pleased to have such an open, forthcoming, and full disclosure conversation before even stepping on the lot. It was reassuring and a breath of fresh air considering the usual car buying process. Jason was my salesman and I cannot say enough about the experience working with him. The presentation of the vehicle I was interested in was handled with integrity and efficiency. The negotiation was professional and courteous. The post-sale communication and processing of paperwork etc. was handled flawlessly by Jason and the amazing young lady in the Finance Department (please forgive me for not being able to recall her name) As I said I am a car snob and I did ask that a small trim piece be replaced on the vehicle...again the crew and team at Freeman Motors exceeded my expectations and got it done stat! Finding and acquiring the trim piece was difficult so I truly appreciate the prioritization and effort that was shown. Freeman Motors (Salem) is simply Top-Notch. I went into Freeman Motor Salem looking to test drive (possibly purchase) a Mercedes CLA 45 AMG that was posted on craigslist; the posting was very well put together. The car looked very nice and clean. I show up to test drive the car after getting the keys from the sales associate Marcus. He mentioned before getting in the car that they were gonna replace the windshield wipers and brakes. Neither of those things were in the posting. I start the car and go to adjust the driver seat to find out it dosnt even work, he explains how they will fix that too. So while test driving the car I was seated way to far back and could barley reach the gas/brake pedals. After we returned I looked around the car and seen a ton of rock chips that didn't appear in the posting and a horrible tint job on the back window. I asked Marcus several questions regarding the cars history nun of which he knew anything about. After reviewing the carfax report I told Marcus the price I was willing to pay given the cars sketchy history (over 6 owners and numerous service records). His customer service skills were of the least importance to him when talking with me. When mentioning the cars defects (listed throughout this post) and price I was willing to pay he immediately to hostile and rude. He continued by raising his tone of voice when saying he wouldn't even consider lowering the price. I asked him to paint the cars fender to fix the rock chips and that I would return to view the quality and possibly purchase the vehicle. He told me that he "wasn't fixing anything on the vehicle until I entered a written agreement to purchase the vehicle". Overall my experience at Freeman Motor Salem was terrible, I wouldn't advice anybody looking to purchase a car to ever go through them. Extremely poor customer service from there sales team and misleading information regarding the vehicles at Freeman Motor Salem. I'm under the assumption there is multiple things wrong with all the vehicles there (all the cars there had dents and rock chips) and that Freeman Motor Salem is only fixing the problems that the customer can see. These guys take advantage of there customers by selling brand named cars (in terrible condition). Only to have serveral other problems occur later after you purchase a vehicle. read more

I have been here twice and both times they weren't ready. The cars that where advertised for weeks were still being worked on, needed a thorough cleaning, and were way way overpriced. Very cool and upscale dealership.   I talked with Marshall about their service department and based on his responses, it is my intention that if/when any of our vehicles need service / repair to give Freeman Motors Service dept a crack so I can evaluate their service. My suspicion is their service department is probably just as quality-oriented. Anyway, Freeman Motors of Salem seems pretty first rate in sales and service. Oh, yeah. We made an appointment time with Renee to look at a specific vehicle. She knew we were driving in from Portland to see it and test drive it. We got there at said appointment time for her to call us by a different persons name and to tell us the car had already been sold. She told us we could have left a deposit or called ahead but did not tell us leaving a deposit to hold the car was even an option, nor did she tell us to call her before our appointment time. We will take our money elsewhere to a different company who treats us with more respect. Do not recommend. read more

Honestly, I cannot say enough great things about this place! We will certainly be back to buy future cars- it was the best car shopping experience we have ever had. We dealt with a lot of the staff over the course of our buying experience, but Renee was our touchpoint. From the beginning, she was communicative and helpful and even had a car driven down from the Portland showroom for us to look at. Once we arrived, everyone was friendly and relaxed. It never felt like they were trying to push us in any direction, only that they wanted to help us meet our needs. Renee even watched our four (!!) children while we test drove several vehicles. They worked to get us the best trade in price for our vehicle, and went above and beyond in every aspect. They talked us through our choices and even gave us recommendations on things to do in the area. Everyone was genuinely kind and interested in us as people, not just a sale. The showroom and waiting area are very well designed and comfortable, with a giant game room in the loft area, which would be fantastic for older children. This dealership is so unique and genuine. If you are looking for a car buying experience outside of the typical cold, hospital room floor, generic experience this is your place! Even after the purchase, Renee has been working diligently to get us some paperwork we need. Again, this was the best car purchasing experience we have ever had. My salesperson, Todd, was great and everyone was mostly friendly during the deal. The vehicle I purchased was newer to them, so they hadn't completed all of their inspections (why list it then?). So, I brought it back after purchase to have the wheels re-finished, inspection completed, and lube job completed (all part of the contracted deal). Fast forward four months and I bring the car back for a lube job and brake pads and they hit me with nearly $3k in deferred maintenance items, all of which should have been caught and covered during the pre-sale inspection. I buy A LOT of cars and I enjoy their inventory, but this is a first and last experience for me. Never again will I spend money with Freeman. read more

I have bought two cars from two different dealerships that were fantastic (btw go to bmw of salem they're amazing) I didn't realize how well they had taken care of me until I went to this place. I saw the car i had been looking for online hit up the dealerships and made an appointment to see the car the following weekend, life happenes so i called and rescheduled after that i couldn't get ahold of the salesman i called three times so i decided to go through a different salesman because this one was treating me like he didn't care. Made an appointment with Marcus to see the car when I get there the dealerships had nice cars everywhere but they were trashy nice cars Austin Martins with dents audis with sub par interior. The inside of the dealership wasn't well taken care of water fountains didn't work bunch of lights probably for taking pictures put in a corner it felt more like a steel fabrication shop than a car dealership. Nobody was dressed nice, the mechanic looked like the kind of guy that goes around and cuts off exhaust after work. Marcus had an attitude that did not make me feel welcomed but more like i was the lucky one to be buying a car form them itest drove the car he didn't know anything about it at all. I found out the mirrors didn't work like they were supposed to Marcus said they would fix that, i wasn't sure about the car it kind of seemed like a piece of junk so i said if you fix the mirror and some other things i found wrong i would come back and look at it seriously he said he would only fix the stuff if we agreeded on a deal, well that did it for me right there because if he's not fixing the flaws before he sells the car he's only fixing the things the customer finds i would be willing to bet there were other things wrong with it. All these people care about is making as much money as possible without any care for their customers. First, I was met with a salesperson that had commission breath and once he had made a deal, he was nowhere to be found. He didn't even bother putting gas in the car. Then they had promised to repair some of the issues with the car at the time of sale, but then when I brought it back in, the manager came up with every excuse in the book to not to repair it. And when I finally sold my car after a year, I cancelled the extended warranty I had purchased from them and was entitled to a refund from the unused mileage, but Teri (finance manger) sent in the wrong cancellation form and didn't realized until a month later, then she said my refund has to go to the lien holder, even though I have paid the car off and she has proof. It's been 3 months and I still haven't seen my refund. I would not do business with them ever again and would not recommend anyone to them. read more

I really think this guys have good prices and I think that's what got me interested. Now, before I go into details I am just going to say what's unfair. I have a practically a 2 year old vehicle in like brand new condition and they offered me 10000 dollars less then what I payed! Another thing, if you tell me let's talk numbers first and if we agree then we will run your credit. Why didn't you stick with that but instead ran my credit first. Did I ever say I will take 10grand less for my vehicle. I want you to know people are not stupid when it comes to dealerships. I know you make most of your money on financing and that the dealership picks the rate and on top of it you wanted to make money on my car! That is not fair. Because of you I have educated my self how to deal with dealerships. As of today I will never look for another car out of state and I will never seat in your office or talk to a sales man about finances. I will never talk payments but what the final purchase price is.
