I love the Canadians. An import from our northern neighbors, Lululemon offers "yoga-inspired" athletic gear. The clothes are really cute; I've never shopped for gym clothes like I do for normal clothes until today. Fortunately, there was a sale going on, so I managed to get a couple of tops and a pair of pants for a pretty good deal. But $100 for a pair of spinning shorts and a pair of running shorts? Sigh, you'll be seeing me working out everyday at NYSC so I don't feel guilty about plopping down so much money for clothes that will soon be laced with sweat. At least I'll look stylish at the gym, right? That being said, the stuff here IS very pricey. I saw a yoga mat for $54. Now, I don't know what warranted it to be that much (I immediately stopped reading the label after I saw the price), but here's a price breakdown of the other stuff they sell: shorts ranging from mid $40s-low $50s pants ranging from $70s-low $100s tops around low $50s jackets around the low $100s Customer service-wise, the salespeople were very kind and friendly. I haven't been to the other NYC locations, so I'm not sure if this store is bigger or smaller than the others. There were a pair of purple shorts I wanted, but they didn't have them in my size, so that was a bummer. Other than that, they seemed to be pretty well-stocked for sizes for their regular-priced clothes. Another perk: they offer free yoga classes every Sunday at 9 a.m.! Now, if only they opened a Roots store here... my love for all things Canadian would be complete. read more

I'm reviewing this location because it's the one I most frequent but all of the locations in New York have served me well. One of my friends told me lululemon is a cult based on some weird press he sent me. If they're a cult then sign me up. I typically workout in an old t-shirt, Nike running shorts and a 10 dollar sports bra-- not exactly glamorous. Lululemon is probably the first store to get me giddy about buying workout clothes. Don't get me wrong, I love to exercise, I just don't love to spend money on workout gear. It's problematic to me that I'm spending 98 dollars on something I'm going to sweat in. Sure their clothes are expensive but the quality is awesome. I wore a pair of their yoga pants for 6 months all over Europe and not only did they hold up beautifully, they survived brutal Italian washing machines. I can't say the same for the rest of my wardrobe. I also have one of their cocoon looking jackets that I absolutely love-- it's a little weird looking and often confuses people. Most recently I went back and bought another shorter pair of pants to wear strictly in yoga class, along with a really cute tank top. I can't say I'm able to shop here that often on account of the prices, but any store that gets me excited to workout and can back up their prices with quality is okay by me. read more

I stop by the SoHo location at least once a week on the way to/from YogaWorks. The store is always in impeccable shape with everything perfectly folded and the staff is helpful. In addition to Yoga, I run and have found that lululemon's apparel is very well made. I used to hate on the brand, I admit, but I'm a convert. I've purchased several pairs of pants and weightless shorts for my s/o and he loves them. While gear is a little pricey, it's definitely worth the investment. read more

First of all, Lulu is my most favorite thing in the world. I do yoga pretty regularly and find that the pants and tops they sell are just so great to stretch and twist around in. They are also fantastic for napping in, walking around my house, grocery shopping, and pretty much any other life activity that requires clothing. I was here on a Saturday afternoon and although it was pretty crowded the staff was super helpful. At one point I was a little overwhelmed by the number of people and sort of quietly said "I need some help (insert sad face)" and out of nowhere a store associate came over and asked if there was anything she could assist me with. I don't know, she literally must have been hiding in a clothing rack or something. The staff near the fitting rooms were also super helpful in getting different sizes for my friend and I as we tried on all of their super adorbs yoga gear. The clothing is expensive (a whole outfit consisting of pants, top, and jacket will run you like $300 easily) but it is SO worth it. I'm currently wearing my newest Lulu purchases and I am never taking them off. read more

THis place has the best, I repeat, the best workout gear. Yes it is a little pricey, but it lasts forever. The shape is great on the tops, the fabric is top-notch, I love their color combos too. You can buy matching sets without being too matchy-matchy. Huge plus!! The website is cool too, great discripitions and photos of all the product so you know exactly what your getting. Plus shipping is FREE! They also provide great customer service. And all their yoga mates look great and priced MUCH better then lots of other top yoga shops. I wish I knew sooner and bought my yoga mat here instead. I want all my future gifts from here !! I cannot think of one negative to post. read more

I'm only giving this 4 stars because of price. It's so insanely expensive that you have a right to gasp before you hand over your credit card. That being said their clothes are very high quality. I currently own 5 pieces of clothing (2 tops, 2 crops and an amazing hoodie). If I could afford to live in lululemon clothing I would (my trainer does and I know why). It's breathable, extremely comfortable & stylish. My 1st pair of Insight crops were so comfy and made my legs and butt look so incredible that I could only wait 4 days before getting another pair. We'll see how long I last this coming week - I really have to restrain myself from going here everyday. Also to all those people who think this is "yoga" only gear please think again. I rarely do yoga, I'm mostly a weightlifting and cardio person and these clothes hold up great to my super sweaty workout sessions. The 2 tops I have are super supportive without being constricting or too revealing. I also love how they feel around the shoulder and neck. I've also shopped multiple stores and the staff has always been really helpful and super nice. Soho, west side, east side - I've never had a negative experience. It's true I have a love affair with lululemon, but it's easy to see why. The quality is beyond superior to any other gear I have (how I wish they made shoes). Unfortunately I have to mix it up with my less amazing workout gear, until I build up a better collection, but I love dreaming of the day when I can sleep, eat and pump iron in nothing but lululemon. read more

Very cool chain. I love the fact that they offer shorts and pants in so many cuts and options. I have several pairs of the ultra short yoga shorts, and they are SO awesome for hot yoga (the less fabric bunching up when you're twisting and balancing the better!) The fabric is so great and washes and dries very nicely. My only reservation is the price, it's a lot.. especially when you need to stock up. I practice nearly 4 days a week and don't really want to buy 6 pairs of yoga shorts for $50 each. So keep an eye out for the sales, they have them frequently. I also think alot of the tops are cut really strangely. I'm petite and many of the styles are very "blouse-y" at the bottom. I'm also a purist and love all black/grey/ neutrals and much of the store is pastels and brights. Which is fun if you're in to that sort of thing. this is your typical lululemon store, chock-full of colourful, stretchy, comfortable athletic clothing for the runner, dancer, yogi, swimmer, or cyclist. the interior is a good size and the staff are friendly. while visiting nyc, i dropped by to participate in their group run club. note that they offer a complimentary running group every wed @ 6.45pm (severe weather cancels). since the website advertised 3-5 miles, i was a bit disappointed that the total mileage for the workout was only 2.7 miles, and this didn't include the 1 mile walk to the hudson river greenway/shared path. however, the leader did mix up the run to include some speedwork and bootcamp style strength training, so it felt like a total body workout. overall, a good workout, but i wish there was more running and more distance covered in this session. the run group leader is very nice, as are the members, so i would definitely return when i'm in town as this is a nice group to run/workout with. read more

Lululemon does an incredible job of not hiring employees, but rather brand loyalists and running/yoga enthusiasts. This is clear in each interaction I have with someone working for lululemon. Best customer service experience I might have ever had before! After having been given wrong advice at the East Hampton store regarding the appropriate mat to purchase for my Vinaysa-heavy practice, I brought my extremely slippery mat into the SoHo location. Not only did they exchange it for a new mat that is appropriate for me, they were beyond thorough in explaining all of the differences in their mat offerings. Any company that stands by their products and customer service is an A in my book. While they are expensive, everything I've ever purchased from Lululemon is of the best quality and fit, and despite the constant washings and beatings my tops, bras, and leggings receive, they are in the same condition as the day I purchased them. read more

Lululemon! Where do I even begin??? Back before I believed in yoga (yes, I literally did not believe in it- thought it was rubbish and whatnot) I came to Lululemon for their amazing bras and tops. After practicing bikram yoga for over half a year and consequently branching out into other styles of yoga, I have learned to love Lulu even more- if that is even possible. Their workout wear is so functional- but why Lulu if it's just about function? Well that's the thing- it is so much more than function- it's the way the fabric feels, the community focus of the store, the complimentary yoga classes, the amazing staff- and of course, the devastatingly hot butt you suddenly have when you put on a pair of grooves, wunder unders, any bottoms really! Lululemon is often criticized for being expensive- but considering how many times you'll wear this stuff and how long it'll last you- plus that added boost of energy you'll get during or after, even before a workout because of how good you look- it's worth the cost, and maybe even a bit more. read more

In complete disagreement with others, the staff at this store are the worst Lulu employees I have ever encountered. I have been to numerous shops in multiple locations & states, both with & without my girlfriend. They completely ignored us (are ignoring actually, as I'm sitting in the store now) the entire time. We got a greeting & 1 one fabric explanation for 5 seconds. (1 girl was "passable" as what I would call a typical Lululemon employee) In EVERY other store I've/ we've been in the experience has been excellent through & through. The store was super busy but every one was still helpful and attentive. I spoke to Libby about getting a new pair of high times pants and told her my current ones were coming apart at the seams. She asked to have a look and told me not to buy a new one. Then she said they would gladly replace the pair I was wearing even though it had been a couple of months since the purchase; no questions asked! Great experiences with their online .com orders and the Summit, NJ shop. Addicted to their Align styles for not only yoga, but for a hint of color under tunics and dresses. Some colors a bit drab, but they work...Adobe color just came and really a beautiful color. I have seen many reviews (complaints) that the fabric pills, but I hand wash or delicate machine wash inside out and absolutely no pilling and I always wear them all day long. I purchase one size larger - definitely snug enough - no roll down - and love how the fabric feels!!! Pricey, yes - but for comfort well worth it! My only complaint is their chat feature online...so slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Lululemon, once you start it's hard to quit. Super comfortable clothes, cute and functional. The accessories are great, I have a host of colors of the headbands to wear around the house or to the gym. I came to this location to do a return. My husband was gifted a bathing suit for his birthday that didn't fit and was not his style. When I presented the men's swim trunks, the sales associate asked me "what didn't you like about them?"I explained they were not for me and my husband didn't like them and they didn't fit. She said she could only process the return if I picked something else out in the store. I explained that this was a birthday gift and I wanted a gift card so he could pick out what he wants. She told me that they don't do gift cards anymore because they "lose track" which doesn't even make sense! How can you force someone to buy something on the spot when they do a return? I explained that I wasn't going to do that and if she wasn't able to process my return I would try another Lululemon. At that point she said, ok I'll do it this once but next time you can't. As she processed the return, I asked her how they would lose track if I returned an item for a gift card and her response was "I just made that up. I don't know why you can't get a gift card. They tell us to say we can't do gift cards." I love Lululemon but that whole exchange was extremely shady and made me never want to go back to that location. read more

I haven't had this issue at any of the other locations (Flatiron, uws). This store is one of the smaller stores but the selection seems ok. I went into lululemon to pick up a birthday present for my girlfriend. She wears their stuff a lot and had requested a few workout outfits. I didn't really know exactly what I was looking for, but I felt taken care of from the moment I walked in the store. The staff was incredibly nice and helped me pick out a few options. The thing that stuck me the most is that I felt like they were actually listening to me and providing thoughtful recommendations, not just pushing product. I can now see why my girlfriend likes this brand so much. I had heard good things about them, but they are the real deal. read more

This location is for the tourists. I felt the ladies that work on site were rude. I had one asian staff woman pass by and belch?!?! Another woman was unhelpful in determinig the color of a pant. The men working were much friendlier and helped with finding specific colors and sizes. Here are some tips for the staff: Some products purchased are for other people in our lives. Ask "did you find everything okay" Not "Did it fit?" Know your products lady. Its not just blue, theres cadet blue, heathered blue, etc.. Offer help only if you can really offer help. I suggest to visit the other Lululemon locations in the city where the staff is truly friendly and knowledgeable with no fake smiles. I never write reviews and honestly I think this may be my first but I am SO frustrated and disappointed by my recent experience with lululemon. It firsts begins with my mom ordering the 'un' mat for me for christmas - when seeing how it hadn't come by christmas eve my mom called and inquired about her order. She then found out that wouldn't arrive until the following weekend after I already would have left! The customer service with her was awfullllllll! They were very rude and never once apologized about the inconvenience. We then waited for the mat to arrive and once it did it was then shipped off to me. I finally received it this past wednesday and and find that I have until the 12th to make a return! I don't know about you, but I have a full time job and making a run out to manhattan in the middle of the night in the weather just didn't make sense. So I went out today (the 11th) and took it in its box with receipt. I was then told by customer service that I would only get store credit or I can print out a label myself, pay another $5, and bring it to FedEx myself. They again were very rude throughout this and not ONCE apologized!!!!!!!! I then went back into the store and was able to have the label printed right then. I finally thought - "OKAY MAYBE THEY ARE NICE AND POLITE HERE!" It took them a half hour to print this thing out. I still am not sure what that was about. So she gives me label and I leave. I then finally get into FedEx and was told the label they had printed was TOO BIG!!! I love their products but their customer service is AWEFULLLLLLLLLLL. read more
