Tried this place several times over the past year, but gave up. Owner is VERY rude, staff is inattentive and unhelpful. Food is abnormally dry, uninteresting and sometimes moldy. ( I'm not kidding, I've twice found mold on my food.) I'm not sure I understand why this woman opened a bakery - she seems to hate people and she's not even a decent baker. I'm sure they make great money because of the tourists. I sometimes wish there could be a sign out front to warn tourists: TOURIST TRAP! GO TO A & J KING INSTEAD! Secretly hoping this goes out of business and someone kinder and with more experience will take the spot. read more

Good coffee and a great assortment of pastries to choose from. We sat in and got iced coffee and blueberry muffins which were very good-not too sweet. Scones were good and brought cookies back for our kids and they loved them. Will be back again when we're in Salem. read more

Sadly, first try but won't be back. Pros: Good tea and my husband said that his coffee was delicious. Good customer service. Cons: the biscuits are so crumbly that they are close to impossible to eat, even with a fork. Additionally, they are so salty that I found mine inedible. My husband soldiered on with his. I took mine back and got a plain croissant which was ok but had an undercurrent of burned, even though it didn't look burned. We decided that we can get better breakfast sandwiches at Starbucks which has the option of Impossible sausage as well. As I said, we won't be back which is too bad as we would rather patronize local establishments. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would!! I was walking out of the restaurant and a gentleman was parked in Lulu's parking spot for five seconds picking up his food order and Gia that was so in a rush to get into her parking spot. Cursed me out called me all types of names and spit on a gentleman! So disrespectful! She kept saying she worked at Lulu's bakery making sure that it was known so she could get her parking spot I've never met somebody so disrespectful in my life to actually spit on a human being it's disgusting I do not recommend going there terrible staff!!!!!! There are so many places in Salem to get coffee, sandwiches, & pastry why waste your money on this place? Coffee is subpar. Sandwiches are overpriced and absolutely nothing special. And the baked goods are stale and really lacking in flavor. I've tried it a few times and every time the customer service is terrible and inattentive, they get my order wrong, and when they do screw up they don't even give the courtesy of an apology. I sat around waiting for 15+ minutes for my sandwich. A tuna salad sandwich. Something that should take 5 min tops to prep. Particularly considering there were basically no other customers in the place. After 15min I asked the woman behind the counter if it would be done soon, she said they would call my name when it was. Meanwhile I hear the folks working in the kitchen laughing, carrying on, cackling having a grand time. There are clearly about 5-8 employees in this place and I'm the only customer...but I'm still waiting on a tuna salad sandwich. So I go to look in the kitchen and see what they're up to other than making my sandwich. And at the order window there's very clearly a wrapped sandwich sitting there awaiting pick up. I'm literally the only person in the place so I ask the woman behind the counter if that's my sandwich. Without even looking at it she replies no it's not. I ask her why a tuna sandwich is taking so long. She then goes and looks at the previously mentioned sandwich that's just been sitting there and says "well it turns out it is your sandwich" No apology, no concern at all. Nothing bothers me more than when people in the service industry refuse to offer the basic courtesy and respect of an apology when they are in the wrong. It's literally one of the only free things a business can do to help ensure a return customer. And if you can't even be bothered with that then I'll not return to your establishment. This all also comes after she totally messed up my coffee order and the cupcake I purchased ended up tasting old and stale. I wanted to give this place a chance, and I have. I'm just thoroughly unimpressed and if this business continues in this direction I'd be very surprised if they last much longer in this town. read more

All I can say is: "Holy Cats!" I am so glad that Lulu's is here! They make the most delicious baked goods (the cupcakes are absolutely amazing!) and the breakfast sandwiches are fantastic. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the layout of the store is creative and open. There's even outside tables to use during the good weather. I hope this place is around forever! read more

Beautiful bakery located in the heart of Salem. Lovely pastieries, cookies, biscuits, cupcakes , desserts all handmade in house. They also offer breakfast and lunch to eat inside or outside or to go if you're on the run. We had a ham and swiss egg sandwich on a huge fluffy angel biscuit and a Turkey and Avocado sandwich with chipolte mayo both were delicious! So many things to choose from it was hard to decide what to get becuse it all sounded so good. We left with an enourmous Peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and a raspberry square becuse we were too full for dessert but couldn't pass those up! We'll be back soon :-) PS: if you're a chocolate lover don't miss the Fixx bars and snacks made in house as well. These make great presents if they make it home ! read more

I am adding to my previous review as I saw a few posts with one star. 11 months later I am still a happy customer of Lulus! Most of these one star reviewers are complaining about waiting in line, well that's what happens in Salem when you have a good product. Often they are shorthanded because of the employment situation and you have to wait. C'est la vie! I love their chili, as it isn't spicy. I love the desserts especially the almond croissant and the ham and cheese croissant. The chai latte, both hot and cold is delicious. I have also had their sandwich/soup specials which were very good. I especially like the white bean and garlic soup. I love how they have their customer card that they punch with each purchase of a drink so that you get a free drink once you fill the card. I have always found the counter staff to be extremely polite and accommodating to me and others. It is obvious that the business is friendly to all groups of people young and old. For anyone with an issue I suggest you speak with the owners as one of them is on hand either in the kitchen or on the floor and they will gladly speak with you and make your order right. read more

A cup of tap water is $1.50 which is ridiculous for something that is essentially free.

This is my new go to coffee shop, they are new and as such are still fine tuning their service but great selection of food and drink, also love the patio dining weather permitting, the woman at the register upon noticing my arthritis pain waived her hand over mine causing it to abate, free of charge! Wanted to love this new business. Been here twice...1st time takeout pastries. Mini fruit tart was yummy, chocolate croissant had very little chocolate, macarons way better elsewhere. Stopped in today for an egg breakfast sandwich...their Breakfast Sammy on a biscuit w/ bacon & cheese add ons. It was impossible to pick up because the biscuit totally crumbled when picked up. Used fork instead. Had I known, a croissant would have been far better choice or maybe a moister biscuit. V cute inside...cappuccino tasty. read more

Food and drink selection and taste are great. The corn bread is my favorite. The story of how this place was named is neat, the owner is nice, as are the staff. The price, location, and indoor seating with plenty of places to sit nearby outdoors or the sliding window-doors, make it a great place for breakfast or lunch.
