a cup of coffee on a blue table

I stopped here on a bike ride and had a great iced espresso. Customer service was great and I liked the small tables outside.

    Ham, onion, cheddar, pepper frittata.

Local, easy & tasty. Friendly staff, good variety of options for food, and pleased to have all the alt. Milk options for coffee as well. As I walked in, they were bringing out a large batch of freshly baked blueberry muffins too.

Excellent soups and sandwiches! They do make a lot of what they serve from scratch. Good wholesome food, atmosphere, and people. I had a turkey club sandwich that was very flavorful and healthy. The clam chowder was a little thin( I do like a thicker chowder normally), but the taste was so good that I didn't mind one bit! The owner suggested a walk around rocky neck after lunch which was a very good walk indeed. If you are ever in Gloucester for lunch or breakfast(excellent baked goods as well), definitely stop by. You would be hard pressed to find this kind of quality on the main drag!

While staying in Gloucester I went to the Last Stop for breakfast. I read about the beach food and wanted to see for myself. I have to say this is a fabulous morning glory muffin! Super moist, full of carrots and raisins that you can see( pictures below) and for under 5 bucks with the huge coffee( also pictures) price is unbeatable! I will have to go back because I had such a hard time deciding between this or one of the fruit muffins or peach/blueberry cobbler or one of the various giant slices of quick breads. Or maybe the fist sized homemade whoopie pie.......

Great little sandwich shop on the road. Hand made sandwiches that are big and filling. A decent size list of different things to choose from. Turkey clubs to turkey roast and very limited in seafood only while it last. They also have a ton of different things to buy, drinks, chips, and small nic nacks to choose from.

This was a spur of the moment find on our way to Hammond Castle (also well worth a visit). We were…read morehangry and looking for breakfast-ish options and Source Bakery more than hit the spot. Their menu is centered around the almighty biscuit - biscuits/scones are one of my favorite ways to inhale carbs but they can run on the too bread-y side of the spectrum. These were fantastic: delicate crumb, beautiful golden color, and sturdy enough to hold in all the sandwich fillings. I went with the classic breakfast egg sandwich (scrambled egg, cheese, and arugula) and added sausage. This was one of those rare situations where the bread vehicle outshined the fillings. The egg, while nice and fluffy (and tasted like real egg instead of the diluted mix I've had elsewhere), could have used some more seasoning and was begging for a healthy dollop of ketchup or hot sauce. The only thing that came through strongly was the salt crystals on the top of the biscuit. Tried a bite of my husband's chicken salad on a cheddar/onion biscuit and had the same reaction - the biscuit overpowered everything else. Not that I'm complaining. The bakery is on a side street off the busier, more touristy Rogers Street. I had this idea too late but next time I'm in Gloucester, I'd take a biscuit sandwich to the beach area along Western Ave. The cafe itself is very, very cute, with little nooks and crannies everywhere for seating and even a comfy looking couch. Bathroom was clean. We found a parking lot one street over in the other direction.

We love coming to this bakery when we are in town. It really is phenomenal and deserves all five…read morestars. I highly recommend their buttermilk biscuit. We had the sausage, goat, cheese, and arugula biscuit sandwich. It was amazing. We also had the miso breakfast sandwich, which was also excellent though it is just served on regular bread, which isn't anything remarkable. We also got a monkey bread which we had gotten before, and it was delicious. They also recommended a sweet hand pie, and we got the apple one. It was also excellent - not too sweet, not heavy, just flaky goodness. This is an absolute five star experience worth every bite of saturated fat, salt, and sugar!!
