I was craving seafood and ended up finding LuLu's Maryland Style Chicken -- and this spot did NOT disappoint. I ordered the catfish platter with collards and mac & cheese, served over rice and smothered in their Cajun sauce. Let me tell you... that sauce was. Everything came together perfectly. I also added a side of 6 shrimp, because why not? And they were just as good. Honestly, I have nothing negative to say about this place. The food was flavorful, filling, and worth it. They do have indoor seating, but it's a smaller space. A lot of people seem to grab it to-go and enjoy it at home with family -- which makes sense. Either way, dine-in or takeout, it works. If I'm back in Charlotte, I'm definitely pulling up again to try more items off their menu.

Had to find a really good comfort food spot since moving here and I am so glad I found Lulu's! I had ordered the fish and shrimp plate with fries and mac and cheese that is to DIE FOR! Everything was seasoned and fried just right. I also ordered a green apple lemonade that has the exact amount of sweetness you'd want when eating southern food. The staff was friendly and felt like a family reunion. I really enjoy the art on the walls and the chalk left out for you to sign your name on it too!

Generally, a restaurant is only as good as one's last meal, and that experience can make or break one's perception of a place. This was my third visit in 6 years and the first two made me return but not sure with this visit. To be clear, this restaurant serves "Maryland Style" cuisine, so don't expect Southern soul food. Their signature crab cakes are the star attraction--hands down one of the best I've ever had. Pricey, yes, but worth their weight in gold. My first two visits pre-pandemic were phenomenal, easily earning 5 stars each. The food was so satisfying I could barely make it out the door. On this most recent visit, however, left much to be desired and tested that "last meal" theory. The chicken wingettes were overfried and unseasoned, and the honey/Old Bay sauce tasted more like simple syrup with barely a hint of Old Bay. I ordered two fish platters--one fried, one grilled--and the portions were inconsistent: one had two pieces, the other three. Like, where's my missing fish? The grilled preparation was well-seasoned, which was a small saving grace, but the fried meal lacked seasoning and not even a lemon wedge to add some acid to cut through the fatty fried food. The collard greens were a major letdown, dominated by a sharp, heavy vinegar taste that overwhelmed any other flavor. They were nothing like the soulful Southern greens slow-cooked with a ham hock or smoked turkey leg for that rich, smoky depth. This Maryland-style preparation i wasn't ready for. The mac and cheese followed suit, lacking that creamy, cheesy, comforting soul but I did enjoyed it. The yellow rice was utterly forgettable, and the yams were respectable. Despite this recent miss, the crab cakes and my earlier 5-star visits keep this place in high regard. That last meal stung, but I'm not ready to write them off. Next time I'll stick to the crab cakes.

I had such high hopes for this place. I came into Charlotte from DC for a cheer competition. When in the south I always try to get some soul food. This was one of the first places that popped up and it was close to the convention center. I decided to give them a shot. I arrived and the parking lot was packed however it's extremely tiny. One guy was parked on the sidewalk. I thought to myself, this place must be a hit. WRONG! My wife placed the order which they surprisingly wrong. We ordered the Stuffed salmon platter, shrimp platter and fish platter. Shrimp and Fish were suppose to have zero rice but they both had rice anyway. Oh well. No biggie there. We also ordered cornbread. The food eventually was ready to go and I took my pictures in the establishment. Looked delicious. Nice presentation. I Couldn't wait to get back to our hotel to dig in. I personally ate the shrimp and fish platter. The shrimp was some of the most unseasoned shrimp I ever had. The yams were just plain sweet potatoes with zero cinnamon or sugar added. No no no. The Mac and cheese was good however. If the shrimp wasn't $20 I probably would have thrown it all away. The fish platter was similar. Super bland unseasoned fish however the Lulu's special sauce made a world of difference. I couldn't believe they didn't have tarter sauce. The greens were decent and once again the yams were not yamming at all. My wife ate the salmon. It had a few pieces of crab meat and she also liked the mash potato's. The cornbread while made that day is room temperature and not hot at all. They don't have a microwave or anyway to warm it up. The service was cool. That helped them get a star as the woman that prepared my food said she knew I'd be back. She couldn't have been more WRONG as the food here is NOT IT. If I ever come back this is a big NO for me. Nana's also in Charlotte is waaaaaayyyy better. I went there TWICE.

I've been coming here since this place opened when the owners used to work there on the daily to oversee things. I haven't seen them in a long time and it shows. I'm about to stop coming to this establishment. I spent $30 for some burnt up salmon and the cook had to know she burnt my fish and they gave it to me anyways. So disappointed

Was visiting for the weekend. Ended up trying the chicken wings, catfish, shrimp and Mac n cheese. All of the food was fresh, made to order and very good. Staff was friendly - no complaints and the prices were good with nice portions. Works recommend this place to anyone thinking about going

Not bad! Everything was seasoned well, hot and tasty. Service was as quick as possible, especially with so few people behind the counter. Except for the tight parking I don't have any complaints. Wouldn't say it's the BEST soul food in Charlotte but it will do in a pinch.

RANDOMLY found this place when my mom and I were in the mood for a place we've never been and to eat something we don't eat often. It's "hole in the wall" and tucked away but don't let the location steer you away. The food is so GOOD and the people working there are so nice. While we waiting on our food (we got it to-go because there are just a few stools in there) they kept checking on us. The crab cakes are literally ALL crab--definitely worth the price

A friend recommended lulus and WOW! everything was fresh and delicious the girl who took our order was super sweet! the food came out fast I'll definitely be back!

This review matters more than my first! The true indication of a good restaurant is if they are consistent as the first time you fell in love. 2 years later, and second visit last night 5/4/2023, they slayed my palette 6 ways from Sunday! We were back in town visiting family, and you know I had to come thru! Signage is bigger this time,it's nice to see progress with this gem. Now, let's get down to the food deets. Crab Fries-Still as delicious as the first time, we added 6 grilled shrimp that were perfectly cooked and tore up shop. 12 PC Wings-Honey Old Bay sauce and a perfectly hard fried wing that was juicy in the center. This sauce officially needs to be bottled and sold! Catfish-Fried and Grilled both delicious, especially when dipped in their special sauce. I could have used some fresh lemons for the grilled, but it was still flaky, flavorful, and fresh. Sides Seafood Mac-This is probably the only thing I wouldn't order again. It's not the flavor profile.. that is spot on, it just needs more seafood to be called a Seafood Mac and Cheese. Collard Greens-Slap your mamma worthy, Thanksgiving table worthy!! Yams-Texture was on point, sweetness was just right and I'm not mad that it touched my Mac and cheese on my plate. That bite was another level! Now, for the first time we got dessert, the sweet girl at the register suggested it when I asked if we missed anything, lol. Sweet potato cheesecake-Hot Danggggggg. I can't believe how freaking amazing this was! Delicious perfectly made sweet potato pie filling baked on top of a creamy cheesecake that was so creamy with the right amount of tart meets sweet. Yallll this dessert is what southern dreams are made of. Carrot cake-I am a huge carrot cake fan in general so this was a no-brainer for me. I was not READYYY!! Moist cake that was perfectly spiced, but what I loved the most is that you got bites of raisins and carrots that were so small yet made a huge impact in your mouth. Topped with buttercream frosting, definitely top 3 best I have had. Lulu's, you have my heart and loyalty when we are in town. All that goodness ran us $103.00 this go round, which is a fraction of what it's worth!!! See you next time!

OMG, I flew in today to pick up a kitten and fly him back to Iowa. I rented a car to kill 6 hours. I did a google search and found this spot. If you are more picky about your location than food keep moving. If you are like me and only care about food this place will blow you away. I think they should be a full service seafood joint charging 30% more. They killed it. I snagged a box of crab fries and they were so good. If you love good quality food don't miss out on this little gem.

Legit legit legit food. I was craving seafood and this was one of the places that popped up on my search. I originally wanted a crab cake, because I love crab cakes but when I saw you could order jumbo lump crab at market price, I had to get it. The food here is made fresh to order. So be prepared to wait a little bit (I waited 20 minutes). The city is also doing some road construction here, so you may have to park on the street and walk to the restaurant. At this time, there is no dine-in available, so I ate in my car. I ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab & Shrimp platter with Greens and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. I also ordered the Honey Old Bay Wingettes because my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Then I ordered the Baltimore "Half and Half", not realizing what it was. I wanted half sweet tea/half unsweet tea, but it ended up being half sweet tea/half lemonade. Here are my thoughts. First, the drink was TOO sweet. It was unbearably sweet and tasted a little weird (I think it was the tea), so I threw it away. I even tried to dilute it with water, but that didn't help. The wingettes are buffalo wings, cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy, not soggy at all. Inside was a fully, not-overcooked, tender & juicy chicken meat. I know some northerners who swear by putting Old Bay on *EVERYTHING*. Now, I always associated Old Bay with seafood and seafood boils, so it didn't dawn on me you can use it like seasoned salt. It was unique but I did like the combination of Old Bay and honey. It wasn't overly sweet at all. Now for my platter. Gosh darn this was DELICIOUS. The lump crab was chock FULL of crab meat. I was expecting filler to be tossed in, but you're paying market price so it's only fitting I get a huge scoop of seasoned crab meat. If you love crab meat, you must try this. I ordered the shrimp grilled (which they forgot) but it was cooked where there were crispy edges on it. The greens were also good, slightly sweet but I prefer greens with a sourer profile. I wish they gave you pepper vinegar to go. Finally, the garlic mashed potatoes were buttery, smooth, and very garlicky. There's no such thing as too much garlic unless you're a vampire. Overall, I liked LuLu's but it can get VERY expensive. The meal I described cost me on the upper end of $50. I think that's very steep for what I got, but it was good, nevertheless.

1st visit went exactly how I expected, especially if you've ever eaten at a small business restaurant previously. There was a line when I entered but gave me time look over the menu. PARKING IS NOT AN ISSUE - common (driver) sense: look around for parking, oh look there's a big lot across the road = Parking review solved. The line wait was about 10/15min. But since I was learning about the place and listening to what others ordered, the wait was short. Also if you interact with other humans, you wouldn't know it either. Finally: THE FOOD Ordered crab cake platter (incl 2 sides, i ordered seafood Mac and garlic mash) and a side of fried shrimp. Drink: strawberry lemonade Crab was huge and filling, but not a lot of filler. Mainly just crab and seasonings. Great flavor and will enjoy on any day, the shrimp were a good size and flavor was great, the platter also comes on a bed of yellow rice, just the right amount. Seafood Mac: it delicious, but personally not my fav Garlic mash: classic red potatoes, greatness. Recommend Strawberry lemonade: TuH!! Do I need to say more, get one or 2... overall I would give the meal a 4/5 stars. No major complaints just a preference when it comes to the seafood Mac. I will return I will promote I will make sure that we all visit. In closing: if there's a line be prepared to wait like any other food establishment, all the food I ate was delicious, gotta remember most bad reviews are from folks whom started off hangry and couldn't feed the beast soon enough. read more

In search of something good for lunch, I somehow came across this new seafood spot on the westside of the city. Looking at a few of the pictures on Instagram, I decided to call in my order to try a few of their items. They're located in a small location off of Tuckaseegee and the parking lot is small as well so you may have to park across the street in the empty lot. My order included the grilled shrimp and lump crab platter over grits instead of the rice that normally comes with the platter and my side was the seafood mac n cheese(which has an upcharge). The seafood mac includes crab, shrimp and lobster and is so amazing, I just couldn't stop eating it. Oh and the grits are creamy and dreamy, not that instant crap. I went back and forth over ordering the crab cake once I got there but glad I did as this crab cake is as they state on the menu 'Maryland style' which means to me the size of a baseball and and worth every penny, seasoned perfectly and the lumps of crab were gigantic! Oh and I almost forgot that I ordered the red velvet waffle with cream cheese drizzle also......please don't judge......this place is crazy amazing and I loved everything that I ordered and I was only able to finish half as the portion size is enough for 2 almost 3 meals. I can't wait to return as they have so much more for me to try. read more

Today was 2nd visit, my first visit was on a Wednesday, the jumbo lump crab over fried shrimp was insanely delicious. The collard greens amazing definitely not out of a can. The sort wait was well worth it! Couldn't wait to get back.... today, Sunday June 28 about 130p; what a disappointment....I ordered the same items except this time double order greens and some cabbage. Got home quickly and all the food is mildly warm or just plain cold.. I look at my $20+ meal and I'm so disappointed!! Not sure how to heat up the fried shrimp w obvious lesser amount of jumbo crab on it...Cabbage doesn't appear to have been warmed up at all. Not as eager to return, inconsistency will undermine your reputation and loyal customer base. read more

This was my bf and I'd first time here on 8/24/20. I got the shrimp and grits plus the wings and he got the lake trout plate and crab cake. It was around 8pm. It wasn't very busy and the wait time to receive our food was relatively short. I read other post about masks. The cashier when we went was wearing one properly. I don't recall if other staff was or wasn't though ‍ Now on to the food. The shrimp and good were good!! I recommend getting it. The wigs were crispy and well seasoned. I have mixed feelings about the honey though. It tasted fine. Definitely no complaints, but I think I would have enjoyed it more without the honey. There was a ton in the bowl. You can see it in the picture. The price of the crab cake caught me by surprise. It was $20!!!! Yes, it was good, but I am unable to determine if it was worth $20 because I hadn't had a crab cake before. I didn't try the lake trout plate but my bf said it was good. They didn't have waffles available to order. Before ordering, I was deciding between that and the shrimp and grits. Next time, I definitely plan to try it because it looks good from other pictures. To drink, I got sweet tea and bf was lemonade. They were both soooo good! The perfect sweetness, Just like I like it. I can't want to come back! read more

I enjoyed trying out this place. I love that it gives you the options of two sides instead of just one, so that you get a fuller meal. I had the crab cake dinner which was excellent. The yellow rice and mashed potatoes were tasty too. I also got the collard greens which were a little too sweet for my tastes so I would definitely try another side option. I can see myself going back, maybe at a less crowded time. I have many other dishes I'd like to try! read more

Not that Great pictures makes the food look good rice tasted like microwaved rice wayyyyy too much parsley the food was overwhelming with it and the strawberry lemonade has a thick consistency and A LOT of sugar the drink will give you diabetes after one sip customer service is good crab cake isn't so good Mac and cheese is 7.5/10 I would give another star but the food just wasn't it for me read more

I decided to stop by Lulus after seeing all of the positive reviews. When I pulled in I almost pulled right back out. Parking is horrible both space wise and quality. But someone was pulling out so I decided to stay though I had to park right at the door. Walking in i was greeted with a smile which made me feel comfortable. I browsed the menu and went to place my order, but I had questions. The big one was, how much is this crab cake that is priced by market value. $16.95!!!!!! Hard pass for me, I dont care how big that thing is, that price is just crazy. So I went with 4 wings, a side of cabbage, a side of mac&cheese, corn bread & strawberry lemonade. Came to a whopping $24.34. I thought this had better be amazing as I'd just got a plate with 2 pieces of chicken, 2 pieces of fish, shrimp, 2 sides and roll for 14.95 a few days earlier. I come home and open everything and it looks amazing, I got excited. The mac&cheese was cheesy and not made with that processed cheese, the cabbage looked like it had some good soulful seasoning, chicken was super crispy and the cornbread was huge. So on to the eating! The cornbread was very cold, i wondered why the container had so much moisture in it. It had probably been refrigerated/frozen and sat out. So that was disappointing. The cabbage also didn't receive high scores from me. All I tasted was vinegar, I almost thought I was eating greens. The mac&cheese was decent. The chicken was way too fatty and had a weird taste in my opinion. I'm not sure if it was the seasoning or they needed to change the grease. Unfortunately I picked over this meal and ended up not even eating half. I pretty much only ate the mac&cheese. I doubt I'll return and hate I'm the first with low remarks but I'm glad so many people love it regardless. read more

You know I really hate to do this because I make an effort to support Black businesses and I loved LuLu's that Maryland style Crabcake is delicious but customer service trumps all of that. There is not enough supply chain issues in the world for why your phone line is always busy because you keep it off the hook, or why you do not respond to complaints people try to dm you so they won't have to make public posts to embarrass you. I ordered the Crabcake & shrimp platter with Mac and cheese and green beans. My shrimp were missing, they ran out of regular mac n cheese so they substituted it with old dry seafood Mac n cheese and the green beans were old too. Granted my husband should have double checked the food before he left but since the lady repeated the order correctly and asked him if the substitution was ok that the rest was right. And here is now another story about when you ASSume. So now I have nothing that I ordered, I can't contact you by phone Bc it's busy, no response on IG, you aren't near my house and you're closed the next day. When my husband goes back the next day you are open you won't honor anything and at bare minimum refund the difference in the meals because the shrimp were never given even after being provided with pics and receipts to which were sent to your IG the same day. The level of disregard is why the business has so many hurdles when trying to grow. After several failed orders because you didn't have any food, I kept trying and was so happy when you had food again only for you to get it wrong and not care. Get it together. read more

LULU'S!!! I have to say anyone living in Charlotte HAS to try this place! To be such a small restaurant they pack a lot of flavor and efficiently serve a ton of customers! During my last visit I had their crab fries, lemonade, corn bread, and sweet potato cheesecake. Their crab fries are widely talked about and I can see why! The fries are crispy and hot, they pile on a ton of crab and top it off with a flavorful sauce. It's so filling it's enough to be a meal on its own! Next let's talk about their cornbread, it reminds me of my grandmas, don't think I need to say much more. I had their lemonade to wash it all down and it's so sweet but tastes great! I was so full by the time I ate the fries and cornbread that I saved the cheesecake for the next day. When I came back for the cheesecake I couldn't believe I waited to eat it. Hands down the best cheesecake I've EVER HAD! I was ready to drive back for another piece before I could finish the piece I was eating. Their desserts are brought in by Carlotta from Lottas Cookies and her hands are certainly blessed. If you haven't had Lulu's, you need to go now! read more

Finally got to try this place and what I found out is the hype is real surrounding their crab cakes! The best I've had. Each bite was pure crab meat, not "filler" like many crab cakes I've had before. I didn't care much for the cabbage, but loved the bed of yellow rice that came with the crab cake. It's good but overrated! Staff don't wear mask Why??? Coronavirus is back on the rise, so I would like to see this business take it seriously!! Tried the Collard greens and I was on the fence because, I felt that they were not cooked with love! Seems as if they put the entire leaf in the pot and cook it without cutting it up or removing the stems! Mac n cheese is nice & cheesy! Definitely can tell old bay seasoning is used as a recipe. Came here on a Monday evening during the start of the coronavirus induced shut downs. They were taking orders outside and delivering to peoples cars. The wait time was pretty reasonable and the staff was keeping everybody in order. Food was great!! I'm from Maryland so that crab cakes definitely live up to their name. FINALLY real Maryland Crabcakes in Charlotte. Ohhhh happy day! I love this place. The owner is such a nice guy. I watched how he talked to customers. There were customers coming in asking him to help promote their businesses in his resturant & he was so supportive to those people. He was definitely very hands on making sure things were running correctly. I will tell you this it is a very long wait time. The food is freshly made to order. Will the wait be worth it? It definitely was for me. I got the crabcake & shrimp platter & omg the shrimp were sooooo good too! They have this special orange colored sauce which is a MUST! Great for dipping fries & taste great on the crabcakes too. I can't wAit to try more items on the menu. If you have the time to wait this place I would highly recommend. read more

They never never never answer the phone. I drive in from Raleigh visiting the area, I try to call an order because the ONE time I did go I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes outside for my food. But none the less I've attempted to give it a try again and the last two times, before the door even gets shut behind me and before they even say hello, I'm given a very long list of items they don't have. They literally don't have crab and almost no sides lol (As to why I call but they never answer of course) they don't keep IG updated to know what they DO have for the day which just results in a waste of time. I really wanted to support everybody sends me their since this is based off my hometown but dangggg this isn't how they conduct business back home. read more

Seems like forever since I've been out to eat, Lulu's crab fries are delicious ! We went on Saturday of course it was packed. The customer service was great, everyone was so lovely and funny. I really wanted to support but maaaan.... This was bad. Absolutely awful. I really wanted to enjoy this experience since I've been waiting for years to try their food however the customer service was horrendous. My husband & I arrived and they only had outside tables available. I was cool with that. I was not cool with a swarm of flies that were outdoors in their patio section. The waitress said that they would move us inside if a table became available. After 20 minutes of waiting the waitress came over and took our order. She seemed nice but definitely overwhelmed. Once our food was ordered I expected for us to receive our appetizers at some point. We never got it. After another 30 minutes of waiting I went to the bar and asked how much longer it would be. I was told by the manager that it was coming out shortly. I went back outside to my table I waited some more. During that time we were checked on once for drinks and that was it. I felt very disconnected from everything that was going on inside. then it started terrain. That's when my husband and I decided to call it a BUST and leave. I still wanted my food so while he waited in the car I went back inside, requested that they box it up, and waited ANOTHER 30 minutes. After waiting I flagged down the waitress and asked her what was taking so long. We had been waiting for 1.5hrs at this point. After another 10 minutes she brought out my now "takeout food" and that's when I became pissed. The portion was hella small for a $32 plate of food!!! The sides were kid size portions and my crabcake sat on a meager bed of rice. vision tire time I had been watching other people eat in saw a major difference in the portions that they played compared to what they boxed up for me. The waitress saw how upset that I was and offered to add more rice In the box. I canceled the order and left. I waited 2 1/2 years to support this business and this was my experience. Definitely would not return and if anyone asks my opinion I am going to be very honest. I myself am a Black owned small business owner and I go out my way to support others but this was not it. To the owners: Please don't bother replying with a generic "we were busy and had an off night" response.... It's insulting. Customer service is one oh one and a service based business. While sitting there for over an hour and a half no one seemed bothered or cared enough to handle this matter in person so don't even worry about it. -10 stars out of 10 stars. read more

I finally made my way to Lulu's and was happily pleased. Placed a takeout order and food was ready when I arrived. The food was really good but the seafood mac lacked some seafood. The overall flavor was amazing though. I would next time order grilled shrimp so I don't have to de-shell prior to eating. Portions was great!! I was stuffed afterwards. Also the fried chicken was really good. This review is based off of eating the food 30 mins later so I can only imagine if it was eaten right after pick up. OMG, MD style seafood served late night, count me in! This place makes seafood fresh to order with a pack of flavor. Charlotte lacks on the late night food options and the go to spots are usually diners, please step aside because LuLu's is here to stay. I heard about this eating establishment from different sources. I saw an article on Charlotte Agenda website, I'd heard from co-workers to try it. I finally made it one day a few weeks ago. I ordered a crab cake platter and a catfish pLatter. Everything was delicious but the crab cake stood out. It was very good. Full of crab meat and not a lot of filler and breading. I will definitely return again. The crab cakes reminded me of my husband's grandmothers crab cakes in Baltimore. My daughter also really enjoyed the food. She loved the Mac and cheese, and greens. Wow man how did I not find this place sooner! I got the crab fries and these were perfect! I'm from charleston so I'm always gonna think we have the best crabs but the way they cooked (sauté) the crab gives Maryland creditably. They kept it simple just fries big lumps of crab meat throughout and special sauce! They did not skimp one the crab meat either! Last thing I'll mention which may not mean much to some but drink selection included teas and different lemonade types. I didn't receive my drink until my food was ready which is good so I do t drink it all before my actual food comes. Also it's not filled with ice so you actually get a full cup of liquid! I know this may not seem noteworthy to some but my strawberry lemonade was full and cold! read more

Yes yes and yes! I grew up eating crab cakes around the Chesapeake Bay Area so refused to eat the mushy heavy filler crab cakes found in most Charlotte restaurants. LuLus crab cake was TWO meals for me it was so huge. And zero filler with huge lumps of crabmeat. I mean amazing. I got the platter and the rice that came with it was a surprise as I normally don't get excited about rice. So delicious. The Mac and cheese was on point. Worth the wait in line. What can I say...best crab cakes in town! As far as I'm concerned, these are the only crab cakes in town! The collard greens and Mac and cheese are also legit, and I'm admittedly picky. Give them a try on your cheat week. Then, go for a nice hike on one of the Greenways. You deserve it and you won't be disappointed. read more

Ive been in Charlotte for about 5 months and this is the 1st time I was for lack of better words; dissatisfied The crab cakes on the outside had the illusion the whole cake was hot, soon as u broke the cake down, it was fridgerator cold. the cabbage had a weird taste like they accidentally put the wrong seasoning in. She made me a SECOND plate And the crab cake was PIPING hot on the outside then cold yet again on the inside.. that sweet sweet (cool aid) was way too expensive .. just too pricey for average food... I cant do juice that been poured in a cup to sit... I should've asked for ice to see how they was gone get ice in an already full cup of SUPER sweet cool aid.. Great place for comfort food in Charlotte! I ordered the crab fries, and they were so good; the extra sauce they give to put on top complemented the dish so well. I'm usually skeptical when it comes to fries with a lot of toppings because the fries get soggy, but these were still crispy. I also ordered the banana pudding and it was definitely one of the better ones I've had. Definitely stop by if you're ever in Charlotte! read more

I would give 0 stars if Yelp would allow it. This restaurant provided me with the worst dining experience I have had in Charlotte, and I'm embarrassed that I recommended it for our party of 5. The poor customer experience we had was so wide reaching. To start, we had been there for 30+ minutes and were getting ready to order when we were finally informed they don't have any crab (which is what they are supposedly known for), the waitress frequently forgot to bring our drinks, there wasn't any toilet paper for my friends daughter to use so they gave her napkins instead, the salmon I ordered tasted/looked as if it were tilapia so I didn't eat any of it, and they put 20% gratuity on our bill because we were a table of 6 (although there were 5 adults and 4.5 year old with us that didn't even get their own entre). As a black member of the community it pains me to leave this review for a black owned restaurant but this establishment is an awful representation of the culture. I would NEVER suggest anyone try this place. read more

Several excellent local restaurants, too. So I had high hopes today for Pollo Campero. PC was clean when I arrived at 12:30. Quite busy with about a third of the tables in use and the remaining were clear of dirty dishes. Surprising because they don't have a trash can that I could see - the staff bus and clean tables, clearing them swiftly. I ordered a three piece at the counter and it didn't take long until a running found my tent card and I was able to start. The chicken was thoroughly cooked, still moist. Not much for flavor in the skin today, it needed some hot sauce to bring out the taste. The cole slaw was creamy and crisp. Still good but also a little bland. The small dinner roll wrapped in plastic was fresh and fluffy. Overall, it's a nice little fast food spot. After a while we were seated in an area that provided a view of every screen so we could finish watching some games. After a short wait our server took our orders for apps and drinks. A short while later she took our orders. Our food arrived after a little wait. Not much to say. It's typical fair for this chain restaurant. The only reason I'm giving four stars was our server. Shawanda was great! She was responsible for a lot of tables and she seemed to perform her duties flawlessly, efficiently, and always smiled. She looked like she was working with purpose and gave the impression she enjoyed it. She deserves employee recognition.

I also had a very good old fashioned and capped off the night with a glass of miner family winery 'emily' (2021) cab. The restaurant is gorgeous and has very casual/elegant dining vibes. Very prompt and friendly staff made the night even more special. I was treated to complimentary "fried milk" for my birthday hand delivered by one of the chefs. Not to be outdone, the warm banana cake was the final dish of our 7 courses and was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The white coffee ice cream that accompanies it is just... chef's kiss. I tried Lulu's for the first time today, and honestly, I was disappointed. I ordered the fried chicken plate with yams and seafood mac and cheese, which came to $27.59. With that price, I had high expectations. The fried chicken was just okay--it needed more seasoning and could've been cooked a bit longer. The yellow rice looked appealing but was bland and lacked flavor. As for the seafood mac and cheese, it only had shrimp (no other seafood) and was extremely oily and pasty. While the seasoning was decent, the overall dish wasn't enjoyable. The yams, however, were the highlight for me--perfectly cooked with just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, the food feels overpriced, and the quality doesn't justify the cost. I hope they make some improvements in the future. read more

Imma just say the smell of the place was better than how the food tasted...I got the crab cake ball with grilled shrimp and rice, garlic mashed potatoes and greens...with a salmon on the side and the berry juice. $45...I went with my sister who is as I type is writing her review...friendly while ordering. I got my food first. The greens tasted like sauerkraut, the garlic mashed potatoes was SUPER THICK and was not garlic at all...the rice was hard, the salmon was dry. We drove from Greensboro, NC and we will be driving again. That crab meat was thick, fresh and a nice portion considering the price. If we were to order that at a high end restaurant it would cost double. Good pricing, glad to see spots in the community employing and feeding the community! Crab, grilled cajon salmon, mac n cheese and yams all tasty real mashed potatoes was a nice touch I haven't had that in ages. Well done. Ohh and my son loved the cornbread he said it was honey sweet. For the price. The food was ok. I had the crab fries. Crab plate with Mac and cheese, and cabbage. Cabbage and tasted like water. Mac n cheese was ok. The 1 Crab cake was small but ok. Not 50 dollars worth. The service was horrible. I ordered over the phone and when I went in the young man at the front asked me my name for my order four times.
