Chicken and fries and collard greens

Excellent first time dining experience here. Lovely friendly staff and service. A true treasure and a great dinner find. Came here for a farewell dinner to my time in Charlotte and what a way to end my dining story here. The gin and soda drink was amazing. My chicken wasn't plain. It was flavorful and not boring. The collards I gave them a try just too salty for me. And the fries just yum.

I came here at 9:05pm on a Saturday night with my friend. The first observation was that the interior is small. Our Waitress was Lee. We ordered "berry blast" and "giving me the blues" at 9:08pm. We ordered food at 9:12pm. We got salmon bites for appetizer. My friend got 2 bakes turkey wings with rice and seafood Mac. I got the 3 friend wings. Berry blast was delicious! I think our waitress made our drinks. 9:24pm is when salmon bites arrived. Food came at 9:39pm. We also got corn bread. The Food was DELICIOUS and fresh! Music was great! My friend was visiting from out of state and I was visiting from another part of NC. We were in the area for pride events. We both desire to return! We didn't have a single complaint regarding the food. Highly recommend! Also, I believe someone told me that they were moving locations to a bigger spot, which would be great!

Met a few friends for Saturday brunch. The line was long when I walked through the door. So I was very excited with anticipation of dining here thinking it must be great. The dining room was okay. Some tables were way too close together and the staff had to bump you or you had to move your chair for others to get out of their seating. I ordered the grits and salmon. The grits and salmon lacked flavor. I had to track down a salt and pepper shaker to make them worthy of eating. The strawberry lemon drop cocktail was amazing a nice balance of fruit and sweetness. The server admitted lunch and dinner was better. If I try again, it will be for dinner. Service was okay. Had to really flag them down if you needed anything else .

Warning: you will wait one hour on your food. I had to talk my husband off the ledge of complaining about the wait. What made it worse, the couple seated next to us, that arrived later than the 2 of us, got waited on BEFORE US. It took 20 min. for someone to even come over to take our order. Not cool. Very unorganized. However, it was a Friday night at 8:30pm. Our waitress was really nice... even though slow. We received complimentary corn bread, but we had to remind her to serve it after waiting a really long time. If you can deal with the hunger, the food is good. The flounder was breaded and fried absolutely perfectly. Green beans, mixed veggies, and broccoli were very good. Corn bread was from a box and drizzled with honey... ok for free. The lobster and shrimp mac and cheese was good but greasy. Personally, I wouldn't get it again, but my hubby liked it. A few folks came to check on us after we received our food asking if all was ok. I assume one was a manager, one seemed to be the kitchen manager. The floor and lighting are swanky. There were folks with children. However, most tables were adults. There are 2 bars, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both were full. The restaurant was really busy.

We were super excited to try this, but the experience was not good at all. Our server was serving like he had a chip on his shoulder and never checked on us. The shrimp and grits were sooooo mid omg. The seafood omelette was not an omelette it was like a crepe with seafood on top. Oh and they brought our mimosa orange juice in a regular glass, causing us to spill it on the table. Lol. Crazy. Everybody talks about the dinner being good here I would not recommend for brunch. I hate to leave this review but I was so disappointed :(

Decided to give Sol'Delish a second chance because I always hear such great things about the food, and though my initial experience with them was TERRIBLE, I believe in second chances!! I'm delighted that I made the decision to stop in for lunch and give them a try, because the food was worth it. We went to their new location on the boardwalk, and it's much larger than their old location, we opted to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day, and the outdoor seating was such a vibe! I ordered the fried flounder with Mac n cheese, mixed greens, and yams! The fish was seasoned and fried to perfection! Chef's kiss!! You get two sizable fish filets with your order, the sides are kind of small but my meal was very filling! The meal comes with two sides and they upcharge on certain sides. The Mac n cheese was good, the greens were very vinegar forward, and the yams tasted like they had been refrigerated and reheated in the microwave. But again, the star of the show was definitely the fish, it was hot and freshly fried, great crunch to it and seasoned with love!!

I typically give places at least two attempts before writing a review especially when they are in my neighborhood. It took two hours to even eat here. One hour wait before sitting and another hour to order and get food. At one point glass scattered and shards flew onto our table. The food came out hot but way after people who were seated after us got their food. We didn't even get drinks until the food came out. The server did apologize and try to explain and the manager did comp us a percentage on the meal. Sadly I knew it was going to be like this when I walked in. It would be great if they had a staff meeting on how they can help each other stay organized and turn over tables quickly.

I arrived with the intention of dining and departed without a satisfactory meal. My initial plan was to order the vegetable rice and salmon; however, due to an onion allergy and the information that all seasoned items contained onions, I opted for yams and macaroni and cheese. The yams were heavily coated in molasses and sugar, and the macaroni and cheese had an unappealing garlic flavor. Additionally, the Arnold Palmer I ordered tasted predominantly of lemonade. When the waitress inquired if I desired a to-go box, I expressed my dissatisfaction with the meal, to which she responded that I might not appreciate good food. I found this comment amusing. Despite the restaurant being busy, other patrons in our vicinity were also expressing complaints. We experienced a delay in receiving silverware and beverages, requiring a significant wait before these items were provided. Very unhappy with service and food.

Visiting the Charlotte area and looked on TikTok and this place popped up. It looked soo good so I had to come try. We were quoted and our wait and we went 10 mins up the street and on the way back for a text our table was ready. That was a pleasant surprise. I got the fried chicken and my sister got the turkey wings. We both said our food was really good! I would recommend this place.

Everything that I tasted was great and my 81-year-old uncle enjoyed his fried chicken wings, collard greens and macaroni and cheese as well. I would definitely recommend this place as an authentic soul food restaurant. Just remember, they have two locations within a three minute radius of one another. The location closest to the Boardwalk is dine in only and the other Location NEAR Insomnia cookies is to-go food only. As a southern cook myself, I would definitely, definitely recommend this restaurant!. The service at this location was also fast and the lady at the counter was very pleasant. Also, The dine in location has a beautiful ambience for those looking to eat inside.

Seen this place on TikTok and couldn't wait to see if it was great. We went to the take out spot first not realizing there are two locations. One is for take out and the other is for seated customers. The inside is cute and I love the art on the wall! The bar stools are very close to each other seem a little cramped. The menu is simple and there is something on there for everyone. We had the fried wings, baked turkey legs, greens, yams and Mac and cheese. The cornbread is jiffy, the yams were canned and the Mac and cheese was watery. Not sure if we will return.

Came here on a Saturday around 3 they were packed for lunch so I had to come back for dinner time about 4:30pm this was my first time here and I loved these aesthetics also black owned. Once I was seated I was greeted immediately and sat customer service was so great and the food so bomb. I got the Mac and cheese, fried salmon and everything greens(collard and kale) first time having fried salmon and I do not regret this being my first time trying it here! I will definitely be coming back for brunch and dinner. Maybe it's just me but I did think $5 for a strawberry lemonade was a bit crazy other than that it was amazing experience.

You'll never be disappointed! This is my first time at the new location and the expansion is much appreciated! It being packed at 1pm on Wednesday is a sign that the food is always on point. Service was amazing! This is the place I want to take everybody when they visit!

My friend found this spot and I have to say, I'm not going to say the "S" word - because it didn't apply. It was all Hospitality. The first interaction was like we had stepped into someone's home and were told to make ourselves at home. And the rest was the same. The gentleman walked us through the menu. Pretty much the entire line up of options. Not a condescending or impatient tone - warm and welcoming. Same with the next person. Even convinced my friend to get a dessert. Not that I need my arm twisted. The dining area was well kept. Clean. The condiments were well stocked and organized. I saw two different team members taking care of business there even asking if I needed anything. Bathrooms were immaculate. Don't see that very often - at least I don't in public places. The food was what we were looking for. Comfort food. With taste, not muted - just good flavor and consistency. A far cry from the bland, dry foods we had experienced the days prior. It was one of the first meals I really enjoyed on this trip to NC. Not saying that others were bad - they just didn't align with my taste preferences/expectations. Something about how Fried Chicken and Pork Chops are prepared in the South (or NOT California). Tender. Juicy. Mac & Cheese - not watery or overcooked. And I don't think I've ever had bad collared greens in my life. It's one of the handful of green vegetables I love having. Almost forgot parking. It's in kinda a plaza/strip mall setting. Free space and lots when we went (lunch). Not having to look for or pay for parking is always a plus for me. So, it's a chain. But I'd definitely go back. I almost ordered more but was saving the stomach space for dinner.

We told her it was our first time here, and she helped us understand how the menu worked, so we placed our order. I ordered the fried whiting, mac & cheese, and green beans. After placing our order, we received a ticket with a number on it and slid over to the left to an older lady (cashier) who seemed to be frustrated or possibly tired. Her attitude wasn't welcoming, but she wasn't mean. She confirmed our order, and then we paid for our food and were told it would take about 25 minutes. We waited in the car until our food was ready. I already knew this probably wasn't going to end well. Come to find out, Kitchen & Cocktails has a very limited beverage menu. Everything we tried to order, they didn't have. Beer? Nope. Non-alcoholic margarita or mocktail? Nope. Their daiquiris are pre-mixed, so apparently customization is not a thing here. Basically, if you wanted something non-alcoholic or even just simple, good luck. Strong pre-made cocktails seemed to be the entire personality of the bar. Now let's talk food. The menu photos are BEAUTIFUL. Very inviting. Study them carefully because those pictures are apparently actual size and actual serving quantities. I ordered the red beans and rice with fried chicken. What arrived was one fried chicken wing. ONE. Not wings. Wing. Singular. The beans were spicy but decent enough. Then I tasted the rice. The rice wasn't cooked. At all. It felt like wet grains poured straight onto the plate. Completely ruined the meal. So now I have to explain why the rice is still sitting there untouched and rolling around the plate. And I'm pissed because I have these hard granular stuck in my teeth. Fresh rice eventually came out, and yes, that batch was cooked, but by then the moment was gone. Other people at the table ordered catfish, which was actually a beautiful large portion, BUT all the sides are à la carte and ridiculously overpriced. Mac and cheese and other sides starting around $12-$20? Come on now. There were also grilled pork chops at the table. Thin doesn't even describe them. We're talking paper-thin, quick-flash-on-the-grill pork chops that came back flavorless. The peach cobbler was okay. I mean... sugar is sugar. What really seals the deal is the automatic 20% gratuity added to every check, regardless of service quality. So whether your server disappears for 12 minutes or not, they're getting paid. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting: * good service * a cold beer * decent mocktails * reasonably priced sides * flavorful Southern food * or enough food to actually get full If I order chicken wings, I expect at least two. There's that.
