Call ahead option doesn't work. Menu is rather ambiguous when it come to The Hookup and the charge for the meats. Portions have been reduced yet the prices are the same. Too much. Rice should be an option. Everybody dont eat rice with every meal. Especially when you have 2 other sides to choose. This makes it overwhelming. If I pick something like grits or potatoes this would clash. I ordered shrimp with crabcake and grits. The rice was only getting in the way. The grits were a joke. Bland and super thick. The seafood mac was bland and mushy. The overall crabcake and shrimp to me was the highlight of the business. Owner was incredible and super nice. Customer service sucked. The dude in the front (Sheldon) was the most ignorant,insubordinate creature you could have ever met. He had the worst energy and was rude if you asked a question about there non detailed menu and the parking lot is a shit show. I guess catch them on a good day. For me it's too late, first impression is everything. Note to owner: Hire new staff and have a sign to where people should park. I LOVED the crab cake meal, it was delicious. The crab cake was full of nothing but crabmeat and it was very tasteful although I'm not really a fan of the bed of rice it's served on, but I get it--it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. Along with the crab cake I had the mac & cheese and cabbage. These were also good. It's the other stuff that warrants this low score. The excessive wait (almost an hour)and the lack of professionalism within the establishment (to go orders and call in orders all in the same line, no signage to indicate otherwise). We ordered one of their lemonade drinks, it was very good; but the cup was sticky. Perhaps like the persons hands or gloves were sticky that prepared it. That's poor quality! It's the small things that will kill this business. Absolutely delicious !!! I've been living in Charlotte for five years now (I'm from Maryland) and have always looked for good Maryland crab cakes. I hadn't been able to find anything worth it or even good. A lot of places use tons of breading on their crab cakes, but not Lulu's! It's been five years since I've been back in Charlotte and especially this part of town. I was pleasantly surprised to look on yelp and see that this was a brand new spot for both chicken and seafood. Go to space is small, it's filled with enough tables to accommodate a small crowd. During the time I was here the door constantly was open with patrons coming in and out. The staff is incredibly friendly, and accommodating. The owner, a Baltimore native that moved here about six years ago, personally touched every table and insured guest satisfaction with the food. The food itself was wonderful, the chicken was crispy with a little spice, the waffles were delicious with a little sugary cream sauce on it, and the seafood mac & cheese is to die for. Well Well Well. We have to do better. I totally understand there is a lot of construction going on, but there is no excuse for dirty floor mats to be hanging across the railing during business hours. The overall cleanliness of the ordering / waiting area was at best 50 out of 100. Now let's get to the service and the food. First the employees need to be more pleasant when taking customers orders. It seemed that they could care less, none of staff greeted anyone who entered or said Thank You when customers picked their food up. They told me it would take 30 minutes for my food to be ready and they would text me. They text me in 30 minutes and when I went to pick my food up they said it wasn't ready, I then waited an additional 30 minutes and had to go let them this is unacceptable. They prepared my food within the next 15 minutes and showed me the plates. They really give a great presentation, but it was not worth the 1hour 15 minute wait. I want to support businesses within the community, but we have to better. read more

Lulu's did not disappoint!! We had to wait in line outside and inside due to Covid, but I don't think we waited more than 20-30 minutes (not bad for a Saturday). This is a Restaurant that I would NOT Recommend. I had Lulu's the previous day and the food was mediocre, however the next day I decided to give it another try. I arrived around 8pm and placed my order, but as time went by my order was not called. HOURS went by I still did not receive my food. It is now 11pm And I still have NOT received my food!! I tried communicating with the staff and each time I got no response. For this to be a "Well Established" Business the customer service is something that should be your MAIN priority. To have your staff not even respond to the questions I have is very rude. I asked for a refund or a reimbursement for the THREE HOURS that I waited but was not giving one. THE FOOD WAS AMAZING‼ It was a Sat nite & we got there close to 9:15ish. There was a nice line in front of us but it moved pretty quick. I ordered the crab cake platter. I don't notice the shrimp was not on my platter till I got home. We didn't bother to check because se waited almost an hr for our food!!! I get they were busy but that doesn't excuse to not give the customer what they paid for. I would of called to make a stink about it but it was already late when I got home & I did not feel like driving all the way back have them fix it. The sides were tasteful too!! FINALLY, a place in Charlotte that taste like home (DMV- PG County to be exact). By far the best MD Crabcake in NC. It didn't have unnecessary fillings. It was actual jump lump crab meat! From the pictures that I had viewed my first impression was that this was a sit down restaurant but was told that this place was more of a take out. That being said, they do have a few tables and chair seating. But there is no wait staff and they do not give refills on any drinks. For some reason it was very cold in the sitting area. I ordered the fish (whiting) and chips because at new places I don't tend to stray from what I know...Lol The food was very tasty!!! Hot fries w/ a little seasoning. The whiting was cut in chunks and was very tasty as well. They have quite of few of non-alcoholic drink options. But 3.95 is a bit much for no refills if you eat-in. Not sure where to start. The place is not for dining in. A few tables but take out is best. Our order took almost an hour to get. Ordered Mac and cheese but told 35 minutes later did not have any. They did substitute a free dessert. My wife did not order shrimp but they gave her shrimp and was charged for it. I went up to counter and asked about order and I think they had lost it because later they came and got our receipt. They did in the end took off the price of one of the entrees. I thought I would experience a taste of Maryland but was highly disappointed. I could tell my food had been cooked in old grease. The chicken and the fries tasted exactly the same, the greens had too much vinegar, the fish was burnt and everything lacked in presentation. Meaning food was all over the containers. The staff had excellent service and one of the guys, i think his name was Duck, was extremely patient with me. There is so many options and I didn't know what to pick. I saw the reviews and had to go. My husband got there right when they opened and I'm glad he did because the line was out the door. The crab cakes were amazing, perfectly seasoned and you got so much crab meat. Yellow rice was good too. The star to me was the Mac and cheese!!! So full of flavor, I did not care for the garlic mashed potatoes, too garlicky for me by that is just me personally; next time I will get double mac. This place is definitely worth a trip! read more
