The atmosphere is bright, welcoming, and relaxing, with soaring vaulted ceilings, a gorgeous stone fireplace, plenty of natural light, and air conditioning that makes it the perfect place to escape the Tennessee heat. They even have a covered porch with fans and café lighting if you'd rather enjoy your coffee outside. The beachy Hawaiian vibe is unlike anything else around. It's peaceful, inviting, and a wonderful place to study, catch up with friends, work remotely, or simply unwind with a great cup of coffee. The coffee is outstanding. Mahalo roasts their own beans, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Every cup is smooth, rich, and full of flavor. My favorite is the decaf, which has delicious notes of cocoa and toasted marshmallow, but I've enjoyed several of their regular coffees too. They also offer great milk options, including Califia Farms almond and oat milk, along with traditional milk, cream, and other alternatives. The drive-thru is quick and convenient, making it easy to grab a coffee on the go, but I highly recommend spending a little time inside because the space is so inviting. Their merchandise is also adorable! The shirts, hats, mugs, and bags of freshly roasted coffee make it hard to leave without taking something home. If you're anywhere near Knoxville and looking for an incredible local coffee shop, Mahalo Coffee is absolutely worth the stop. Absolutely horrible, long wait, while we were acknowledged it still took 5 minutes to place an order, only ones at the register. The wait after ordering was not bad at all, which seemed nice, no big deal. Now I see why, they half ass made the drinks. One was 1/3 foam and bitters as can be like hotel coffee sitting on a hotbplate for hours, the second drink was seperated see picture. When I inquired should it look like this the girl said ,yea that's happens must be the syrup I guess. The taste was the same as above, bitter rancid cold brew with on odd sweet (like cheap honey ). I've had other locations of Mahola Coffee and they were delicious. But when I came here it was very disappointing. I ordered a vanilla latte with coconut flavor added. It didn't taste like they added any flavor at all it just taste like burnt coffee that was poured over ice. I took about maybe a full sip and dumped it out. My ABSOLUTE favorite coffee shop in the Knoxville area for 6 years now. Coffee is superior and roasted locally by Mahallo. No bitter tastes or artificial tastes. The vibes are my favorite though! It's bright, airy, and surfer vibes in summer but cozy in the winter. Sad they took away the original Flourhead Cinnamon rolls but they have descent house made cinnamon rolls and other pastries. read more

One of the best lattes I've ever remember tasting! I've visited a ton of coffee shops in many major cities (Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Indianapolis) and around the country and the latte I had here was one of the best I've tasted. I usually get a cortado because unlike the latte the amount of milk in a cortado doesn't hide the taste of the espresso. So it was a wonderful surprise when I could taste the espresso in the latte. And the wonderful taste of the espresso made my taste buds shout for joy! It was sooooo good! And the milk was perfect. It had a sweet taste and nice smooth microfoam. The equipment. Mahalo went all out in their equipment. They have a Loring coffee roaster in the back roasting some awesome specialty coffee and a commercial Synesso flagship MVP Hydra espresso machine up front. I imagine their grinders are top of the line as well. The coffee menu is a simple Thirdwave coffee menu (latter, flat white which is an Australian creation, cortado, cappuccino etc) with a pour over or drip coffee option. The vibe of shop is relaxing and cool. It can accommodate singles, couples, and small groups. I love the stone fire place. I really wish Mahalo was in my home town. I've driven past Mahalo a thousand times, and even remember the labored process of renovations that were done to this building to transform it into a warm and welcoming neighborhood coffee shop....but it took the power going out in our neighborhood on a Saturday morning to finally get me in the door. They have a drive-thru, but since I'd never been before I chose to park and go inside. They are well staffed with friendly faces, and my to-order was put together quickly. Their cappuccino was strong and flavorful, and their Americano coffee was approved by the hubs. I also surprised him with a cinnamon roll - his coffee shop go-to. This was not your typical sugar encrusted, sickeningly sweet pastry - the cream cheese icing has a delicate sweetness and a mild tang, and the pastry itself was tender and also not overly sweet. I don't know if they make their pastries in house, but it was very different than the norm! Nice! I plan to go back again in 2023, and not just when the power goes out this time. read more

Great place for a latte, chai tea/coffee,and to meet with a small group or individual. A few sweet treats and oatmeal too. We love their cinnamon rolls and banana bread and often eat their oatmeal. Quiet and nice to work on my computer for an hour or two and meet with other business professionals, family, and friends. Outdoor tables are small but if you have a dog, you can sit outside with it. Judging by all these glowing reviews, I guess we must have gone to the wrong place!!? Coffee was overpriced, tepid and bland, only a few cookies and scones for sale (no butter, cream or jam available for scones), no napkins given or even available as far as I could see. Only sweeteners on display were brown sugar and packets of Trulia (no pink, yellow or blue packets). Milk/sugar station had unwiped coffee spills on it even though it's at the sales counter and staff were walking past it. Place was like a barn inside, and other than the electric fireplace, was completely devoid of character. No comfy couches, no overstuffed armchairs, no books, just cold hard surfaces. Staff were a mixed bunch. I really see no reason to return here other than that there's nothing else out there. Still not a compelling enough reason to return. read more
